Yesterday’s question was that all those who merge with God, do all of them become the same; do they become identical, equal? Maharaj Ji answers this question in Japji Sahib.

mannai maarag thaak na paa-ay

Those who have been in a loving relationship with the Divine, their path to mergence shall never become blocked. They keep walking continuously on this path. Otherwise, our minds trip us again and again, in every lifetime. And those few ones; we are going to be the few ones with His grace.

mannai pat si-o pargat jaa-ay

He says, a day comes when they are no more, not even a trace of them, not even a footstep of them, and God blossoms where that person used to be. You are no more, and the Divine takes over. The Divine blossoms where you used to be; the Divine flowers! The seed is no more; a flower has blossomed where the seed used to be. The seed is gone, and while departing the seed gives us a flower.

chaaray agan nivaar mar gurmukh har jal paa-ay.

antar kamal pargaasi-aa amrit bhari-aa aghaa-ay

A flower blossoms at that place; it has all become Divine nectar, a mysterious flower. A mysterious flower has blossomed out of the seed. The flower’s name could be Lotus, Rose, Marigold, Lilly, or Allah, Waheguru, Ram, God. The flower blossoms, and you are no more. Now the question was, are they all equal? Up to this point, whosoever merges in God, they all are equal, they are no more. Actually, the question that are they equal does not arise. They are no more!

Now what has arisen there is God. God is in birds, God is in animals, God is in humans, God is in trees - are all these God equal? Is there one God or many Gods? See I got you! The question itself is wrong. This question does not arise that are all these Gods equal? Is Allah equal to Waheguru, or is Allah greater than Ram? No, please understand here, Maharaj Ji is going to say something so wonderful. Now the mysterious flowers, they are all unique. Everything God creates is unique. He never repeats. We call Him creator; what does creator mean? Who creates, who does not repeat himself; when Maharaj Ji wrote Oankar, He left the creating power of God moving, creating new things.

So, every flower is unique; it’s all God. It’s not a question of same or equal, it’s one God. Now every flower is going to be uniquely different. Let’s see the next line.

mannai mag na chalai panth

Every time someone merges in God, someone is no more, and God is there, then how God operates out of that body is going to be unique; never before God has acted like that in anybody before and never again will He act like that until the existence is there. Never!

I was saying that Guru Nanak Dev Ji appeared ten times in different bodies. In His first appearance, He is a unique individual, with unique ishq, unique compassion, unique humility; never before a prophet has said that the dust of the feet of God’s devotees is my wealth. Never before a prophet has bowed down to His disciples, never before, and never again it will happen, never again. In his second appearance, He was all ishq; He showed surrender, He showed the relationship between Sikh and Guru. In his third appearance, it was all service. For twelve years, every day Baba Amar Das Ji walked 10-12 kilometers to fill a pitcher of water, and carried it all the way back for the Guru’s ablutions. In His fourth appearance, He showed indescribable tenderness and love. In the fifth appearance, He created Harmandir Sahib and Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Nobody had ever created Harmandir Sahib or created Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and never again it shall happen again, and so on. So, every time God operates through someone, that is unique behavior. That flower will have a unique color, unique beauty, and unique fragrance. Some may not have any fragrance; we will come to that. How is it possible that a flower has no fragrance? Yes, why not!

Tomorrow, we will continue from here.

Dhaarnaa:

do ghut mad day pi-aa vay babalaa, do ghut mad day pi-aa

Oh, my beloved Father, please give me a couple sips of ishq, the Celestial Music. I want to drink ishq.

kaa-i-aa bastar see vay mayray, tay iHnoo aapaa samajhadee aaN

This body was robes of my true self, and I have been taking it as me, as my true self. I have been taking this body as me.

aapay naal majaak maiN keetaa, oHday saraap dee maaree aaN

I made a joke to my true self; I said this body is my true self, and then my true self cursed me and separated me from my Beloved.

do ghut mad pi-aa kay sanoo, saraap khalaas karaa

Kindly give me a couple of sips of ishq so that I can become free of that curse. I had made a joke with my soul.

Please keep listening to the Celestial Music, Anhad Naad.

This letter is from Canada. Ji, I read these letters because no matter how small, usually there are big things to learn from these letters. Yesterday’s letter reminded us that whenever we do Paath (read and recite prayers), we should feel what we are reading.

In this letter, the writer says: As I sit or stand, He is constantly working on me. As I speak, write, sing, or do anything, He keeps working on me, unstoppingly. Can I ever repay? When I turn my back on Him, and go into the world, He is still standing there with his arms wide open and saying I’m still here for you. I don’t listen and I get in trouble in the world. He comes and gently picks me up while I’m crying, and takes me out of the world; the world, the hot burning world! He says to me like nothing has happened; He says I love you, I’m always here for you, just utter my name and I’ll be there. It seems like He is my servant; God, my servant? I just call His name out and He appears for me; He loves me that much. Can I ever fathom His love? Can I ever appreciate His love?

Now, to the Siddhas.

kah baishu kah rahee-ai baalay kah aavhu kah jaaho

The Siddhas are asking, oh young man, where is your seat? Where do you remain stationed? And when you come back out of meditation into this world, then what do you do?

naanak bolai sun bairaagee ki-aa tumaaraa raaho

Oh, young man, you, who is completely detached from the world, what is your path?

ghat ghat bais nirantar rahee-ai chaaleh satgur bhaa-ay

The question was that where do you remain seated? And when you come out, what do you do? Answer: I remain seated at that place, in that space, where the Creator sits in me; the Creator who is sitting in everyone. I remain seated where God is seated in me.

And what do you do when you come out? What do I do when I come out: I do what pleases Him. So simple! I do what pleases Him, that’s all. Nothing complicated, nothing big, just simple. My seat is where my Beloved’s seat is. I do what pleases my Beloved. The answer continues in the next line.

sehjay aa-ay hukam siDhaa-ay naanak sadaa rajaa-ay

The question is, how do you come out and where do you go outside? The answer: I come out in total stillness. I remain calm, still, silent, peaceful, that’s how I come out; I remain in that state. And you ask, where do I go outside? Wherever my Beloved sends me. It’s all about Him, it’s all about my Beloved. I remain under His command, and go wherever He commands me to.

aasan baisan thir naaraa-in aisee gurmat paa-ay

Maharaj Ji says that God is eternal, and I stay with Him. By doing so, I do not go into the cycle of birth and death. He is telling us how to get out of this cycle. Because God is eternal, because God is not in that cycle, so by remaining with Him, we are taken out of that cycle of birth and death.

How did you reach that stage? I just obeyed my Beloved; so simple! Through this conversation with the Siddhas, He is telling us what to do. How did you reach that state? By just obeying my Beloved, that’s how.

Siddhas are asking how did you come to know who you are? I remained with my Beloved and He made me recognize myself. Beloved, Beloved, Beloved, it’s all Beloved! This is Ishq!

gurmukh boojhai aap pachhaanai sachay sach samaa-ay.

I remained with my Beloved and He revealed me to me; He revealed myself to me. Then He just made me dissolve in Him, He just made me melt in Him as a block of ice melts in the ocean.

Ji, Maharaj ji has been so merciful to me, to us that sangat from all over the globe, he has sent to me with the most precious wealth on this Earth, the dust of the feet of his lovers. With utter humility and love, I am so grateful to you.

The glory of the early hours of the morning.

Dhaarnaa:

vaylay amrit mathay see tooN lagi-aa

mahik jihaa din langhi-aa

That the first thing in the morning, the first one who I saw this morning was you, oh my Beloved, and the whole day I felt like a fragrance.

dard-ay-dil har ko-ee la-ee firdaa,

You made me realize that everybody is carrying some pain within them so I should be very sympathetic to them, very compassionate to them, I should deal with them tenderly. I feel this is the blessing of seeing you the first thing in the morning.

vaavaaN nay saanoo aj dasi-aa

The wind blowing by me has been telling me that be very careful when you are in the presence of someone. Be very careful, everyone is carrying some pain in them.
