Maharaj Ji says that just come to me, I’m right here, sitting within you. In my company, you would become free of all the tensions, stress, worries, anxiety, fear, jealousy, resentment, complaints, and you would recognize who you are; you are so beautiful!
Let us please sit straight; please keep the spine straight. At the lowest point in our body, we are going to say Wahe, and then come up at the hirdaa and utter Guru; at both places we should feel something awakening.
Wahe…..Guru……Wahe….Guru…..Wahe…Guru…….
Now, let us please just utter Guru at the hirdaa (heart area), and feel that the entire spine, below the hirdaa, as well as above the hirdaa, will shiver with His presence.
Please feel the spine while keeping the sacred word, Waheguru, in our consciousness. We should feel the presence of the Divine along the spine and feel the spine heated (agan tap taa-o).
munda santokh saram pat jholee Dhi-aan kee karahi bibhoot.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj Ji explains in Japji Sahib how the Divine created the universe, how He’s running it, and how to recognize who we are, how to meet Him, how to lose our false identity and merge back into Him. He answers all of these questions in awe inspiring language, and in just a few words.
Yogis have many classes, and there is a class who claim that they are the highest order of Yogis. They put earrings symbolizing that my ears are pierced with the divine Celestial Music’s melody and do not hear anything else.
munda santokh - Maharaj Ji says that contentment should be the earrings. If we feel content, peaceful, then the Celestial Music will become audible to that still full consciousness.
saram pat jholee - You beg for clothes and food, this does not look good for His people. You should earn an honest living, that way your honor would be saved.
Dhi-aan kee karahi bibhoot - You are wearing ashes all over your naked body, and you are saying that I’m reminding myself that body is dust; it’s going back into dust or ashes tomorrow. But if you become focused on the body because of God’s presence within it, you would feel it alive because of the presence of life within it. You would feel alive! Then you would not look at it as a frame of dust; it would become the sacred temple of the Divine. So look at it not as a bag of dust, but as a sacred temple of Divine.
khinthaa kaal ku-aaree kaa-i-aa jugat dandaa parteet.
Maharaj Ji says that you are wearing a patched quilt reminding yourself that the body is sewn together by the various joints. You don’t marry believing that by remaining virgin you are going to remain unattached. He says:
khinthaa kaal - He says that instead of seeing the body as something destructible, look at yourself as something indestructible; that you are indestructible. He says the whole game is of consciousness, so just look at things the right way. Instead of looking at the body as destructible, look at yourself as indestructible and immortal.
ku-aaree kaa-i-aa - Instead of not marrying, make sure that your consciousness remains pure and does not become married to the world - worldly things, worldly people, worldly comfort, worldly places, worldly people. Do not become attached; keep your consciousness virgin. Keep your consciousness pure by staying with the holy one.
dandaa parteet - You keep a staff in your hand to remind yourself that you are going to keep lust, anger, greed, attachment away from you. This is what that class of yogis do. Maharaj Ji says you keep a staff in your hand reminding yourself that you are going to keep all these five robbers (anger, greed, lust, ego, attachment) away from you. He says, come close to me, I will tell you something - they will not leave you alone! Fall in ishq with the Divine, that is the way! That is the only way you will remain untouched by the mind.
aa-ee panthee sagal jamaatee man jeetai jag jeet.
You are saying that your class of yogis is the highest class of yogis. I say that if you love all human kind, if you love them all, then I would consider you as someone high; not just by claiming this way. Love all human kind, love all his children, see the divine in them, then you would become extraordinary; not by claiming that your class of yogis is extraordinary.
He says you want the whole world to accept you as the highest class of yogis. Destroy your ego by uniting yourself with the Divine, become egoless. Then you would realize your true self and the Divine, and that is the real victory.

Then Maharaj Ji says I bow to the Divine, I bow down to Him, I bow down to Him, I bow down to my Beloved. What does it mean? What does it really mean when we bow down? You say we respect Him. Why do we respect Him?
Please understand this. When we bow down to Him, we are showing our gratitude to Him. So, to bow down to Him is to express our feelings of gratitude that oh my Beloved, because of You I have this human body; because of You I have the human consciousness; because of Your mercy, I have legs, I can walk, hands, eyes; because of You, I have a house; everything I have is because of You. I’m so grateful to You! This is a key to reaching our true self. This feeling of gratefulness takes us to our true self, and should be deeply embedded in our consciousness. Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude, gratitude! We will talk someday, what happens to our consciousness the moment when we feel gratitude.

aad aneel anaad anaahat jug jug ayko vays.
aad - I bow down to the one from whom this play originated.
aneel - Even though he created the world, he is dwelling in the world but he is unattached.
anaad - He is beyond beginning and ending.
anaahat - There is no way he can be destroyed.
jug jug ayko vays - He remains the same - fresh, alive, everlasting, never-changing.

This me, I, mine, this consciousness which is a false belief that I exist independent of everything else, and it has created its own little world. We must not live with this I anymore. We must promise ourselves tonight and keep the promise that I’m not going to live with this I.
Dhaarnaa:
ais maiN naal saadaa…..lagdaa nahee dil hun……nee maa-ay sanoo……kaaHlee jihee pavay
Oh, my mother, I feel so uncomfortable with this consciousness, I-full consciousness of mine, I feel so uncomfortable with it.
shikvay shikaitaaN eiHdaa……kam athay pahir daa nee…..shukraanaa kaday naa karay
This “I me” consciousness is always complaining, feeling resentful of other people, even of other situations that I’m not being treated fairly, why this is happening to me, why that person did that to me. All the time, this consciousness of mine is complaining and feeling resentful. It never ever feels grateful to the Divine who has blessed us with so much. I don’t want to stay with it. I can’t bear it anymore.
Dhaarnaa (end)
While answering all the questions of the Siddhas, Maharaj Ji discloses the secret of realizing immortality, merging with God; how we are reborn out of the Divine, and then how we grow up and transform; and then we become the Heer and He becomes Raanjhaa and both get married (vee-aah).
Heer Raanjhaa are known for their legendary romance.
vee-aahu ho-aa mayray babulaa gurmukhay har paa-i-aa.
Siddhas are asking Maharaj Ji that everybody is rooted in their own worlds, how come you have uprooted yourself from your own world? How come?
kis kaaran garihu taji-o udaasee.
What made you restless to uproot yourself from your worldly life?
kis kaaran ih bhaykh nivaasee.
Everybody’s consciousness is rooted in their own worlds, their thoughts, their desires, their yearning. How come your thoughts are all about the Divine? How come?
Siddhas are asking because Maharaj Ji’s bodily age is only about 29 years; they are saying it’s such a tender age.
Everyday we will discuss that question and answer between the Siddhas and Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It’s so informing and so interesting; all the secrets are revealed.
We are seeing that this creation is His garden in which He dwells. So there’s His creation, He Himself is in that, and then I am in it too.
Dhaarnaa:
nee baag maa-ay sajanaa daa….. jeeHday vich dunee, maiN, tay oh aap
This is His garden, the whole universe, in which is his creation, he himself, and then there is me. I cannot say yet that I’m included in his creation because I don’t feel, I feel I’m separate.
nee saahaaN daa roop Dhaar kay…….yaar zindagee day banay bhaa-ee-vaal
This breathing, it is Him! The breath is Him; He has taken the form of breath, He’s breathing into me, breathing out of me. This is Him, my Beloved, and by doing so He has become the partner of my life. I’m not separate from Him, I can see it.
Please sing with consciousness of gratitude.
