Let us please become focused at the ears or the heart area and by staying there please hear.

mil rahiai prabh sadh janaa mil har keertan suniai raam

mil rahiai – Maharaj Ji says one should dwell within them – who ?

prabh sadh jana – the ones who are the sadhus of the Divine, the ones whose support is the Divine, and not a person.

Maharaj Ji says that we should dwell with the loving devotees of God, and by dwelling with them, hear the Divine’s Keertan (singing God’s glory). Kirat or kirti means to reflect on someone’s virtues and praise their glory; Keertan does not just mean singing with instruments. Gauna (singing) means to talk about something with love. Anytime we talk with love, it becomes gauna (singing) – these are the secrets of our inside world about which we have no idea. We are so mysterious that we can never know the mystery of His creation. Whatever He has created, we can never know its mystery.

keertan suniai raam – we should dwell with the loving devotee of God and in their company we should hear His glories. His glory is so vast and infinite that no one can ever know it – what a glory!

Love and gratitude are the fundamental qualities of our true self, our soul. These two qualities are the fundamental qualities of God too. Because our soul dwells with God constantly, hence its nature is the same as God’s – love and gratitude. That is why Maharaj Ji says:

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ॥

so prabh door nahi, prabh tooN hai

The Divine is not far from you, the Divine is you.

It is another thing that we do not know our true self; slowly we are getting to know it.

To do ishq and to feel the sense of gratitude. God does ishq – that makes sense, but God feels indebted, God feels grateful – to whom ? This doesn’t make sense! When we serve His creation selflessly and without ego, He feels indebted to us, He feels grateful towards us. Out of that gratefulness, He blesses more.  If we feel that I am serving His creation, He doesn’t care. He says okay you are doing it, that’s fine, do what you want.

By continuing to do seva selflessly, at some point He blesses us with a realization that I am not doing it – everything is just happening! This is the nature of our true self. This is so strange! The thought that I am doing it does not even occur, rather, the consciousness becomes anchored in the feeling that He is using a lowly creature, an insect like me, for doing seva! This doesn’t happen with any cleverness that I will say this to God and receive His blessings – No! You cannot trick Him! We may try but it won’t work. And one doesn’t do this to receive His blessings either. It is just that He becomes so merciful upon you and puts these thoughts in your consciousness – do this, do that, and you can clearly see that these are not my thoughts, and He is using an insect like me for doing seva. This is His blessing!

kirpa kare jis parbrahm hovai sadhu sang

If God becomes merciful, He blesses us with the holy congregation.

jyoN jyoN oh vadhaa-ee-ai tyoN tyoN har syoN rang

And the more we do Sangat, the more we are colored in Divine virtues, and our nature becomes more God like, and whose nature is like the Divine – our true self.

Everything is very clear!

Just this morning, a phone call came from BC and that person said he is not well. Many years ago, he started coming to Sangat, God was very merciful upon Him, and then he thought from now on I am going to do bhakti (meditation) on my own. Now what happened ? He says, nothing remains, he is empty. Why ? Because His laws are permanent.

jyoN jyoN oh vadhaa-ee-ai tyoN tyoN har syoN rang

The more we do sangat, the more we are colored in His virtues.

parbrahm jab hoye dayaal

sadhu jan kee karai ravaal

If God is merciful, He makes us the dust of feet of the Sangat – the realization that I am a lowly insect. I used to think very highly about myself and now He showed me I am just an insect, I am nothing! This only happens if He is merciful. And to whom does He become merciful ? To the ones He feels grateful towards. There are so many people in the world – does He make all of them the dust of everyone’s feet ? No! When He feels grateful to someone, that is when He blesses them with the realization that they are the dust of everyone’s feet.

The Tenth Master asked for the heads of the five beloved ones, and thanked them, by promising that I will agree to whatever you say. Love and gratitude are the two fundamental qualities of God as well as our soul.

dayaal prabhu daamodar madho

dayaal means merciful. Who does He become merciful upon ? One has to become worthy of His mercy.

daamodar madho – He is the Lord of the universe.

unt naa paee-ai guni-ai raam -  His glories, His virtues are so vast, so infinite that they cannot be counted.

Our insides will now start becoming increasingly compassionate and kind. Now even if you are tough to someone, it will happen momentarily. It is not a toughness that stays within you; it comes briefly, you say something, it may be harsh, but it happens momentarily for someone’s benefit, and then it goes away. In the world, when we are angry or harsh towards someone, it lingers within us. Nothing lingers within our true self.

Our current consciousness is affected by three things – spoken and written words, music, and pictures. Spoken words affect more than written words but it is the pictures that influence our consciousness the most. Let’s look at Gurbani – in every Shabad, Gurbani paints a picture before us. For example:

mil rahiai prabh sadh jana  – which picture is it ? That we are sitting in the Holy congregation.

mil har keertan suniai raam – hear His glories while sitting in the Sangat.

sukh sagar gobind simran, bhagat gaavai gun tere raam

Maharaj Ji says remember the Divine, feel Him, it is as if you are sitting in an ocean of peace – it presents a picture of an ocean of peace.

Pictures affect our consciousness the most. Gurbani constantly shows us pictures – pictures of the Holy congregation, picture of us hearing, listening with deep intent while in the Holy congregation, sitting in the ocean of peace.

These things affect us all – adults and children. Please be very careful when talking to children, be very aware that every word is going to affect his or her tender heart - lest I speak a word that hurts this little innocent heart. Words, music, and pictures affect our consciousness. Let’s be very careful while speaking to adults and even more so when speaking to children.

Pictures, music, and words affect our consciousness instantly. With positive words, right away our consciousness is shifted positively, upwards. This is why Gurbani uplifts us. His utterances, Gurbani, sprang out of His ishq for His creation, so it carries love in it, it carries compassion, it carries pictures with it, it carries music with it. It affects our consciousness instantly. Anhad Shabad is music, and Maharaj Ji says that as long as you are hearing the Anhad Shabad, you are in my womb, you are being transformed, your consciousness is being shifted positively. See the importance of Anhad Shabad. All the music in the external world was brought by people who tried to replicate the sounds they heard within themselves. None of this was created in the outside world. Anything man creates in the outside world is by copying some aspect of nature – all the cars are shaped like four legged animals, the crane used in construction is an adaptation of an elephant’s trunk. All music has come from within. Please understand the beauty, the splendor, the preciousness of the Anhad Shabad. Because Anhad Shabad is music, it speeds up the transformation of our consciousness. We cannot remain in His womb without listening to it; in fact, listening to Anhad Shabad is remaining in His womb. It is playing all around us and we are within it – like being in the womb. The celestial music is the music of ishq.

maye nee maye, nee sanoo ishq nay hath chu-haa-yaa

That breath of mine, which was touched by the fragrance of His breath, when it moved inside, it touched my heart, and my heart became warm and hot with ishq.

Please feel very intently, the vibrating insides and also hear the celestial music (Anhad Shabad). The more we feel our inside moving, the more it heats up our consciousness. Ishq is warmth; when we do simran, our insides feel warm. This heat is going to transform our consciousness. That is why it is difficult to do simran when it is too cold, the consciousness does not become focused because the inside does not become warm; it is too cold outside.

There is a letter.

Baba Ji, what are the signs that we are in Maharaj Ji’s womb ? How far have I reached ? Am I in His womb ? Let us first read the letter before we respond to these questions. The writer says that I continuously hear the celestial music and whenever I look within, I feel intoxication, I feel the anti-clockwise movement of the presence of God and when I lie down that becomes even more intense.

The question was: Am I in His womb ?

In this stage, we remain in the womb of the Divine as long as we keep hearing the Anhad Shabad. Once we are completely prepared in the womb and ready, the Anhad Shabad is going to stop; a stage will come when it becomes totally silent or sunn. When that stage comes, that will be our rebirth.

Now our consciousness is also going to be affected by written words. It is important to cultivate a habit of reading noble books. You will see that the Anhad Shabad will intensify if you are intently reading books about the Divine, about walking this path, and we will become more profoundly settled in His womb during that time. Everyday please read 1-2 pages, preferably before bedtime, digest what is read, and we will remain in Maharaj Ji’s womb all night.

maye nee meri, sukh nee mangendiye

O’ my mother, you always beg God for my welfare, I want to tell you something.

jind kuDee aj puchhan baih gayee

faD ke mera hath nee, meri sukh nee mangendiye

O’ my mother, today my soul caught hold of me, and was asking me something. I will tell you what she was asking.

kinni ku teh sachi-aa-ree hon dee

She was asking me how thirsty you are to realize your true self…

te kinni ku dooree te kukh nee, meri sukh nee mangendiye

and how far is the womb of the True Guru from you
