Yesterday we saw that when we leave the holy congregation our consciousness changes and gets scattered. What was the reason ? The reason is that here in sangat, the divine is our father and mother. We are sitting in the lap of our mother, there are no worries, we have trusting consciousness. What a beautiful relationship nature has created! Men are guided more by the mind, but a daughter’s relationship with the mother is special - such is the trust. That is the kind of lap of trust we are sitting in. When we leave the sangat, we lose that lap of trust; now we are in a different lap. The outside world is going to keep us in our false self, and here He transforms us into our true self. It’s about trust. We trust our mother, every word, every teaching of our mother.
Please let’s become focused either at our heart or our forehead, with utter humility in our consciousness.
tayrai bharosai pi-aaray mai laad ladaa-i-aa.
I did what You asked me to do. I trusted every word You said. You said do ishq with God. I have deep faith and trust in You. Relying on Your utterances, I indulged in loving the divine, very fondly, very tenderly, with my total being.
Because I am a child, and a child is a child. A child does not have much wisdom. I indulged myself but I don’t know if that was pleasing to You. I must have taken many missteps. Kindly forgive me. I am your child and You are my mother and father.
tayrai bharosai pi-aaray mai laad ladaa-i-aa.
I used to hold Your hands with love when You would touch me, but my hands are not as tender; they must hurt You. Even though my intention was to love You, I may have hurt You.
bhooleh chookeh baarik tooN har pitaa maa-i-aa.
God is vibrating throughout His creation and all those vibrations are within us. Notice how the sound of Saaa stays in the throat or goes up a little bit. Similarly, focusing at the pubic bone or the root point, when we say Waaah, this sound lifts our consciousness up from the lower planes to the higher planes. Let’s say Waaaaah and extend the breath as long as possible.
waaaaah, waaaah, waaaah……
Please feel the insides. We should feel the moving energy of the divine presence.
One of the merciful forms of the Guru is that He is a painter.
tayrai bharosai pi-aaray mai laad ladaa-i-aa.
Here He paints a picture of how a mother loves, fondles her baby and how the baby loves the mother - smiles, kicks, and expresses his love!
Another merciful face of the Guru is that He reveals to us the inner treasures.
naam niDhaan akhut gur day-ay daroo-o.
mahaa rog bikraal tinai bidaroo-o.
paa-i-aa naam niDhaan bahut khajaani-aa.
The divine presence that we feel within, Maharaj Ji calls this the Guru’s presence. Until we get used to feeling this presence which does not have a physical body, Maharaj Ji says feel the Guru, and God is operating through the Guru, so this is the divine Himself. We are babies right now and used to seeing the physical bodies so that is how He explains to us. Later, as our consciousness transforms and grows, He tells us:
gur parmaysar ayko jaan.
That God and Guru are one. Now He says you have grown up and you can see that there can be an alive presence without a physical body, a presence that moves, dances, speaks, walks! When our inside starts filling up with the divine presence then many treasures are revealed - treasure of humility, love, compassion, and many more!
paa-i-aa naam niDhaan bahut khajaani-aa.
Maharaj Ji says when you feel yourself filled with God, you have felt an inexhaustible treasure within.
I have received many letters talking about how life has been transformed. In one letter, the writer says:
I see it is such a joyous time that we are all able to get together for Khajana Darshan again. This week I have really felt the excitement of waking up early for Simran and Sangat, and then in the evening after finishing work to come to Darbar Sahib for Khajana Darshan. Each day I have felt fresh, new, alive, more than I have ever felt before and it is wonderful to see how happy the sangat is.
Another son of mine says:
I am very thankful that Maharaj Ji brought me to Sangat. I cannot even imagine how life can be lived without Sangat. It feels as if there is no reason to live without sangat. Since the day Sangat arrived in Surrey, I feel like staying in Darbar Sahib all the time and serving the sangat. What a beautiful life Maharaj Ji has given! I can never thank Him enough for this. Baba Ji, since last summer Maharaj Ji has taken seva from older graders to help their younger brothers. Earlier we used to hesitate talking to our younger brothers about Maharaj Ji but now everything has changed. All of us do Simran together, reflect upon Khajana Darshan together, and laugh and play together as well. Even our brothers who are 12-13 year old now talk to us about Maharaj Ji and ask questions about how to go deeper on this path. Maharaj Ji has been so merciful. We are forever indebted to Him.
Please see how in this day and age, and in these western countries, Maharaj Ji has turned our children into angels. Even in Fresno, a new sangat wrote a long letter with tears in her eyes saying that she is amazed at how the youth in the sangat are so different from their peers and never want to leave Darbar Sahib.
We should keep our eyes on the destination. Our destination is to find immense peace and love within us, and realize our true self.
Please note that the mind does not say some things even when it knows the truth. But not saying the truth is deceiving ourselves. We must feel deep within that I am not happy with this false I.
Dhaarnaa:

The reality of life:

One thing that should always remain in our consciousness is the kindness of the Guru, the favors He has bestowed upon us. He brought us to the sangat, told us the truth about life, imparted understanding through His utterances. We should remain ever so grateful to the Guru who has saved us, and not only us, He has saved our generations too. Maharaj Ji says:
bhoolay sikh guroo samjhaa-ay.
ujharh jaaday maarag paa-ay.
Those who had forgotten the purpose of their lives, the Guru instructs them and makes them understand.
It is our nature that if someone does a favor to us, we feel a weight until that favor is returned. Recently, a sangat mentioned that they owed hundred dollars to this person who passed away. Who should I give these hundred dollars to ? See how we feel that weight. What about the Guru who has been so merciful to us, watches over us around the clock, imparts true understanding, and is always waiting for us to get lodged in His womb ?
ujharh jaaday maarag paa-ay.
Those who were wasting their lives, the Guru sets them on the right path. They were destroying themselves. He is not talking about someone else, it is about us!
tis gur sayv sadaa din raatee dukh bhanjan sang sakhaataa hay. ||13||
Fall in love with the Guru, day and night. He destroys your false I and shatters your illusions. Such an unimaginable presence, He stays with us day and night as a true, intimate, most well-wishing friend. He bestows these blessings in the sangat.
We can see that life without the holy congregation is a sheer wastage of such an opportunity, of such a wealth.
Continuing the dhaarnaa from yesterday.
Dhaarnaa:
vay mainoo tayray baajhoN jioonaa gunaah lagi-aa
pahilay haasay noo main tayray charnee charhaavaaNgee
doosray noo muskaan tayree main dikhaavaaNgee
When I see you I know there is going to be a wide smile and laughter on my face. Then I would show my laughter, the smile on your face, and that would bring another laughter to me!
kiday nirmal honay oh pal sajnaa vay
bulee-aaN tay haasaa nainee hanjhoo saji-aa
How pure those moments would be, that there would be laughter on my lips and tears in my eyes.
