ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

॥ ਜਪੁ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥  ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥

Let us please feel the Divine at the hirdaa.

Last evening I received a call from Malaysia. The caller was saying that he listens to Khajana Darshan at least twice every day, by sitting down quietly with eyes closed. I become as focused as possible, so that I may hear something. That is an amazing statement! This is the statement of somebody who has woken up a bit and recognizes the reality about getting out of the mind, that how difficult it is! We remain in a deep illusion that I hear everything. No, the mind cannot hear it; the mind does not have the capacity to hear anything about this path. Mind can only listen to something which is concerned with its world.

It’s going to either happen now to us or it will never happen. The more time lapses, the more we will become used to remaining in the mind, and believing that I’m not in the mind.

While sitting with the sangat, I have come to know that some of us are expecting or waiting for the day when we will realize our true self; waiting for how beautiful that would be when I would be just pure Divine love, which would have no trace of selfishness. We are expecting the day, waiting for the day. If we are waiting and expecting, then that day shall never arrive; cannot arrive in our life. Shall not arrive, guaranteed! Why? Because the mind is worldly, and what does the mind do? It wants to get married, wants, waiting, expecting. It happens, marriage happens. Now I want to have a house; now it is waiting for the day to have a house, expecting to have a house. Now I want to have a better job, waiting, expecting. You understand? Is there any trace of spirituality in this? No, this is total mind! We are expecting or waiting, and we are missing the most beautiful moments of our lives because the mind will not let us even know, will not let us have any doubt that it is here with us. No, the mind says, I’m not here; you are in the sangat, how can I be here!

ਆਜੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਟਾਕਿਮ ਕੂੰਜੜੀਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਮਚਿੰਦੜੀਆ

aaj milaavaa saykh fareed taakim koonjarhee-aa manhu machind-rhee-aa.

Maharaj Ji says that today, right now; right now in this very moment, which has been placed before you; in this very moment you can realize who you are! But you are waiting, you are expecting, and waiting. Has anybody ever lived a worldly life where he stopped waiting or expecting something? No! Have the billionaires stopped making money? No!

We must not live with falsehood now. Enough lives have been wasted; the lives of nothing but misery, and expecting and waiting for the day when there would be all satisfaction. That day would never arrive in the world. So, it is right now! Instead of waiting, what should be there? Longing!

ਜੇ ਤਉ ਪਿਰੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਿਕ ਹਿਆਉ ਠਾਹੇ ਕਹੀ ਦਾ

jay ta-o piree-aa dee sik hi-aa-o na thaahay kahee daa.

Maharaj Ji says if you have the longing to meet Him, to be your true self, then remember one thing - do not hurt anyone. And what do we do when we are in the world? At every step, we cause pain to others, hurt others. He is not saying, be careful when you are in the world that you don’t hurt anyone; rather He says remain within where there is no question of hurting others. If someone asks: I have snakes of lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego - what should I do? He doesn’t say keep an eye on it lest the snake bite you; He says throw away the snake!

So this is the moment; this very moment; this very day! When, instead of waiting, it becomes a deep longing; like one of the sangat said that I cannot make do without Him; if we become like that, then our life will become a heaven.

ਦਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੈ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਆ

dar darsan kaa pareetam hovai mukat baikunthay karai ki-aa.

Maharaj Ji says that those who are longing to behold Me, are not wishing for any heavens.

Longing will arise within us such an intense desire to go within, to leap within, to dive within, to just run within - like a falling star. That’s what longing will do. We should be watching ourselves - Where am I? What was I thinking? What was I expecting? Why was I thinking that? That would only help us to realize that we remain outside, we remain in the world of the mind. Once we learn how to live while living in the world of the truth, you would never be able to leave that way of living because that’s so beautiful.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ

naam binaa nahee jeevi-aa jaa-ay.

ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇ

vadai bhaag gurmukh har paa-ay.

Maharaj Ji says that if we are not feeling the Divine’s presence within, we are not living. We are daydreaming, we are in sleep, while in this so-called wakeful state even during the day. He says, maybe you are sitting, maybe you are standing, maybe you are taking a bath, maybe you are eating, but it’s all happening in sleep. He says, we become alive only when we feel the life within, and Divine is the life, is the source.

Our true self is ishq. He says:

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਭਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਵਾਰਸੀ

jin ka-o bhaaNdai bhaa-o tinaa savaarasee.

Maharaj Ji says that those who have love in them, God makes them realize their true selves.

bhaaNda - means vessel; here it means hirdaa (heart area).

bhaa-o - means ishq

When Maharaj Ji brings our consciousness to the heart, He awakens love within us. When we feel Him at the hirdaa, He is filling us with love. He says those who have love in their vessel, He makes them their true selves. Again and again we bring our consciousness to the hirdaa, that means love is essential. We only know worldly love. This is different; this is ishq; ishq can only happen within. Bubble can only have ishq for the ocean. It cannot have ishq for any other bubble. If the waves on the surface of the ocean bring two bubbles together, they burst because the bubble cannot have love or ishq for another bubble; it can only have ishq with its source. That’s the nature of the ishq.

Please grasp this.

Maharaj Ji says those in whom the ishq has taken birth, only they will become ishq, and we are the ishq. It’s not to wait for, it’s not to expect, it’s right here; all we have to do is experience it! It’s right here, right here, in this moment, in this body!

Ishq is needed.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ

naam binaa nahee jeevi-aa jaa-ay.

We must invoke ishq within us so that we can become alive; so we can live. We have to invoke ishq in our heart area so that we can wake up; we can become alive; we can start living. Then we have to keep living so that we can become ishq, because we are the ishq.

Maharaj Ji tells us the signs of becoming the true self. Our true self is in sahaj (peaceful, still); there is no running around for our true self. If you have to do something quickly, your body may run around but inside you will remain in sahaj. Our true self is not just limited to the walls of this body; our true self is spread in the entire universe and its center is within us. You may be running around but your center cannot move. If our inside becomes disturbed, is not in sahaj, that means we are not with our true self.  Maharaj Ji says:

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ

sehjay hee bhagat oopjai sahj pi-aar bairaag.

We must understand that if we keep talking about futile things, we are going to keep bringing our consciousness to the blind well again and again. As we awaken, a sign would be that our insides will become silent; we won’t feel a need to talk; we will only say something when it is absolutely essential. Otherwise, you won’t be able to speak. This is the nature of our true self. The mind’s nature is to keep talking aimlessly. We are not going to wait for the true self, just keep looking at yourself and see how much transformation is happening within me. Is my inside becoming peaceful?

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ

sehjay hee bhagat oopjai sahj pi-aar bairaag.

bhagat means to call the Divine with love, to feel Him within, with love. Maharaj Ji says as you become peaceful within, love for Him will awaken within you. It’s a Catch 22 - on one hand He says that as you feel Him with love, your inside will become more peaceful, in sahaj, and as you have more sahaj, more love for Him will awaken within you. How beautiful! He says you are the true self, which is pure ishq and remains in sahaj; it is born out of sahaj. So, it is important that we remain awake and develop a habit of remaining in sahaj, and that can only happen if we become accustomed to feeling the Divine within.  

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ

sehjay hee bhagat oopjai sahj pi-aar bairaag.

He says love for the Divine will spring from sahaj, and the love for the Divine is ishq, that is your true self. Our mind does not feel the Divine presence, it is our true self that feels the Divine within. It’s right here, so why wait? The more we remain with the Divine, we keep becoming our true self, and to remain with Him is ishq. Only ishq can remain with the Divine because He is ishq Himself.

ਤਉ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਤਉ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਮੂ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਕਿਤੀਆਹ

ta-o bhaavan ta-o jayhee-aa moo jayhee-aa kitee-aah.

Maharaj Ji says that those whom you love, they also have love in them. Those whom you have ishq with, they also have ishq for you in them; that’s why You have ishq for them. They are like You; You have ishq with them because they are like You. They also have ishq in them. Our true self is also ishq. When we feel the Divine within, it’s our true self who feels Him, not the mind. Mind is never permitted to go within. So, it’s our true self who feels Him. It’s right there. What are we waiting for?

Where was I?

I was wondering, what I was talking about, I had forgotten. We started talking about something and then somebody yawned, and we all laughed, and everybody forgot what we were talking about. I was saying that our true self does not remember anything. It doesn’t need to!

See how God made that person yawn so we could understand this. Especially here in the sangat, nothing else is possible; the Divine is operating all the time. If we feel that this is my mind, even behind that there would be a message of the Divine.

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ

sehjay hee bhagat oopjai sahj pi-aar bairaag.

Maharaj Ji tells us about the stages on the way. Raag means attachment, bairaag means to break away from something we were attached to. Maharaj Ji says that as we come out of our so-called worlds, and come in the world of the Divine, and realize that I am this consciousness who is feeling Him, and loving Him. He says that state is so pacifying, so calming, so stilling, so beautiful that tears start coming to you. Tears start coming to you with the inner realization that I could never ever imagine this life. I was afraid of losing what I had in the world; I haven’t lost anything, I have gained so much. My consciousness has transformed; the consciousness which was worthless has now become so precious, full of diamonds and gems. Not everyone can see the beauty, the preciousness of Gurbaanee. Now, we may be able to see a glimpse but that too at a distance, from far away. Even though there are Darbar Sahib’s everywhere, not everyone can see it; only the rare ones He makes understand, can see it.

We don’t know much about our true self, ishq. Some of our are now starting to realize that it is very precious. It has no animosity, no complaints, no enmity with anyone and because of that I have become so peaceful. It is not possible to talk about God.

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਹਿ

jin ayhi likhay tis sir naahi.

Maharaj Ji says rest everything can be said in words but God cannot be described in words. Our true self is the same; the bubble is made of the same water as the ocean. God is also consciousness but that consciousness is different. Ishq cannot be seen outside or cannot be done outside. It’s a very precious gem which belongs to the inner world, and it has no equal; it’s unique!

Please stay at the hirdaa (heart area) and feel Him. How blessed we are!

Dhaarnaa:

ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਾ ਵੇ ਸੱਜਣਾ, ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਏ

aapnaa aapaa vay sajnaa, muhabat laasaanee ay

Our true self is ishq, which has no parallel, no equal; it is unique! All other so-called loves are based upon self-interests, no matter what type. Even a mother son’s love; mother loves her son, that love is based on her selfishness. Ishq has no trace of selfishness; it can only be experienced, and that is us - you, me, everybody! We, the true selves, is ishq which is unique, unparalleled.
