ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
Let’s become focused either at the ears or at the hirdaa, and listen to the Celestial Music. It’s raining outside, settled rain, peaceful rain. Maharaj Ji says that the Celestial Music is the rain of God’s mercy.
ਧੁਰਹੁ ਖਸਮਿ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸਚੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਠਾਇ ॥
Dhurahu khasam bhayji-aa sachai hukam pathaa-ay
The Lord commanded right from His court that let the rain of God’s mercy, the Celestial Music, keep falling constantly, continuously.
ਇੰਦੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਗੂੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਛਹਬਰ ਲਾਇ ॥
ind varsai da-i-aa kar goorhHee chhahbar laa-ay
It’s the order of the truth, order of the Lord. Let the rain of Divine mercy fall continuously, nonstop, but make sure no space remains dry. Maharaj Ji says that this Celestial Music is filling the whole universe, is raining throughout the whole universe, and not the smallest possible part of space can remain dry.
Wherever we go, the rain of His mercy is falling there.
ਬਾਬੀਹੇ ਤਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਂ ਤਤੁ ਬੂੰਦ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
baabeehay tan man sukh ho-ay jaaN tat boond muhi paa-ay
Maharaj Ji says, oh, my dear friend, you are such a rainbird who will only feel peaceful, content, if you drink the rain of mercy of the Divine. He says, that’s the only way you can become peaceful. Otherwise you can keep running from door to door outside; all you will get is frustration, hurt, discouragement, negativity.
Many of us can feel the divine light emanating out of us. If our eyes remain shut automatically, so tightly that there is no desire to open them, then we can see the divine light spreading out of us. In yesterday’s letter the writer said so. To remain within the divine light and to keep hearing the Celestial Music , this becomes the womb of the True Guru in which he kills our egoistic I and gives birth to the new I, which is all divine light.
We must please understand the importance, the glory, the mercy of Celestial Music. He says you would only become peaceful, your thirst would be quenched only if you keep drinking this rain of His mercy.
ਅਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਉਪਜੈ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
an Dhan bahutaa upjai Dhartee sobhaa paa-ay.
He says that when it rains outside, the grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, all the food is grown. When this rain happens within you, when your insides get rained with His mercy then your true wealth grows within you. What is the true wealth? The divine virtues; they grow within you and your insides become glorious, precious; everybody appreciates your insides which gave birth to the divine virtues.
This is the dhaarnaa we have been singing that oh, my true Father, please bless me with the wine of Celestial Music.
Dhaarnaa:
ਦੋ ਘੁੱਟ ਮੱਦ ਦੇ ਪਿਆ ਵੇ ਬਾਬਲਾ, ਦੋ ਘੁੱਟ ਮੱਦ ਦੇ ਪਿਆ
do ghut mad day pi-aa vay babalaa, do ghut mad day pi-aa
ਕੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਨ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ, ਜੋ ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕੇ ਬਚਾ
kukh tayree bin raah nahee ko-ee, jo rahee-aaN noo sakay bachaa
There is no other way that these travelers of life can be saved other than becoming lodged in your womb, and being reborn. There is no other way to be saved but rebirth and realizing that I am the divine’s light; I am not this body, I am not this mind, I am not these emotions, I am not this world that I have created, my own world.
ਕੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਨ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ, ਜੋ ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕੇ ਬਚਾ
kukh tayree bin raah nahee ko-ee, jo rahee-aaN noo sakay bachaa
ਬਾਬਲਾ, ਦੋ ਘੁੱਟ ਮੱਦ ਦੇ ਪਿਆ
babalaa, do ghut mad day pi-aa
Today, a sangat was telling me with sadness in their insides, that my brother says that you don’t belong here, and my mother also says that I don’t approve of this. Other people look at me strangely as well. I said you are sad about it, it’s to be happy! He said, they don’t approve of me; how can I be happy? I said it’s not a matter of approval; they are not rejecting you, they are saying you don’t seem to belong to this world now. This world, who are walking straight to the graveyard are saying you don’t seem to belong here; you seem to belong to some other world. Is this to celebrate or become sad? Celebrate! When they look at you strangely, they are not rejecting you or accepting you. The mind only thinks of rejection or acceptance, it cannot think of anything else. It goes to either that extreme or this extreme. They are neither rejecting you nor accepting you; in fact they are jealous of you, and you don’t become jealous of beggars, do you? You become jealous of those who are higher than you. If they look at you strangely, it’s a real blessing from them. We must be very clear about it. They are going to look at us strangely because we are strangers to them. We are becoming the citizens of the land of truth, right? How can they say that you are ours? They are saying get out of here. We are out of that world! So, please we should celebrate it. Don’t become discouraged. God speaks through others, and then asks us what do you understand about this. We are going to become free of worldviews, world opinions, world ways, not only the world ways but also the religious ways. No more path of any religion. This is the ultimate freedom. This is what Guru Nanak Dev Ji calls muktee.
Freedom from whom? Freedom from the mind, freedom from society, freedom from all ways of living, freedom of all rituals, freedom of all religions. Then you are a free bird. Now the question arises, how you are free when you are walking this path of love, you are not supposed to eat meat, you are not supposed to kill His children for food. Now when you are free of all those things, can you eat meat now?
You won’t eat meat because now your actions are going to spring out of the unexplained mysterious land of the truth. I repeat again, then all your actions will spring out of the mysterious land of truth. Then would you even think of eating meat?
Because your actions will come from God, and God is in chicken too, would God want you to kill the chicken? You would see God everywhere; you won’t see chicken, you would see God. As I explained yesterday, you would see everything solid but you would see that everything solid is a veil on reality. It’s not chicken; this is just the garb this bird is wearing.
mannai Dharam saytee san-banDh
Maharaj Ji says that you will not be there; it would be the Divine operating that flower. And would the Divine eat His own creation which He had created out of ishq? He loves them, He has ishq with them.
One thing we understand now, that our true self and God remain together. They are beyond the territory of the mind. Is this clear? Now, you would be amazed at this: not only is the truth and our true self beyond the mind, they are even beyond our heart. This is mind boggling! They are even beyond our heart; they are much much deeper than our hirdaa or heart.
What is heart? What does the heart do? Heart is ishq. And what does ishq do? Create. God is creating His creation out of ishq, out of His heart. Because He is creating His creation out of His heart, His creation is carrying God’s heart. That’s why they’re alive.
All the arts - poetry, music, dance, paintings, sculptors etc., they all belong to the heart.
What is in the mind? It’s the world which we have created for ourselves. What does the mind do? It keeps us in its world.
And what is in the heart? Ishq. And what does ishq do? Create. What does the heart do? It ishqs - somewhere it is ishquing poetry, it’s creating poetry, somewhere it’s creating paintings, somewhere it’s creating music, somewhere it’s creating dance movements, somewhere it’s creating sculptures. They all come out of ishq. The painting, the dance, the music are not their worlds as the mind has it’s world; heart does not have it’s world. The heart is ishq, it’s an aroma, a fragrance; it creates fragrance - poetry, song, music, dance, paintings, sculptures, all those.
We should understand what poetry is. Ishq creates poetry. Mind can form a poem, but that’s not poetry. Please ponder over this.
Maharaj Ji calls Himself, a poet. One can form a poem, but that does not make them a poet. Poetry comes from ishq. A poem can be formed out of the mind; anybody can, all you need is rhythm; twinkle twinkle little star, that’s not poetry. These things must be very clear. Please remain focused.
What is Gurbani? Poetry.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਉ ਗਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੀਤ
naanak bha-ojal paar parai ja-o gaavai parabh kay geet
Maharaj Ji says that those who sing the poems of the Lord, they go beyond the mind. Those who sing His poem; He’s a poet. Please understand. Gurbani is poetry, which has come from where? From the heart of God. Gurbani has come from the heart of God. And then Gurbani is written in ragas; they are to be sung. Gurbani is to be sung with different instruments. And where do the instruments, where does the music come from? Heart, ishq. And then He says:
naach ray man gur kai aagai.
He says dance before the Guru. And where does the dance come from? Out of where? Heart.
At the heart is not our being, at the heart is not God, it’s the heart of God. Our heart is not the heart of God, but the universe has its own heart. The whole universe has a collective heart which is beating continuously.
Please understand this. Ishq creates. Are all the children in the world being born out of ishq or the mind? Out of the mind, out of emotions, not out of ishq. And because we are born out of the mind, what are we supposed to be? The mind. So we are the mind. Heart is somewhere else.
This thought just came to me, that many times when two people are getting married and they say, we feel we are soulmates. I said that’s all the world of the mind; they cannot even be heartmates, let alone be soulmates, which is much beyond the heart.
The story is very, very deep!
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਠਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਨਾ
jan naanak ih khayl kathan hai kinhooN gurmukh jaanaa
We must please become very peaceful now by staying with the Divine, by remaining hearing the Celestial Music, which we can do all the time even while working.
There is a letter from Toronto. The writer says:
Baba Ji, this Barsi was a very different experience, the one I will never forget. I’m so grateful to God that He has brought me to the anniversary celebrations. The faces of the sangat were so peaceful and so focused, that I felt like I should hide somewhere and keep looking at their faces. Everyone was so focused on walking their sacred pilgrimage towards their true self. Baba Ji, after seeing the transformation on the faces of the sangat, and hearing the Khajana Darshan, I’m convinced that He is not going to let me fall, that He is not going to let me remain in the world and live a life of frustration. God has handcuffed me and He is not going to let me go back into the world of the mind. Now my only prayer is that may I never forget Him, that may I be blessed with the true congregation all the time.

ਮੂੰਹ ਹੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ
mooNh hee ban-daa nahee ajay tainoo dikhaa-oun noo
ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਣੇ ਆਉਣ ਨੂੰ
dil tay kardaa bahot hee mayraa milnay aa-oun noo
Oh my true self, my soul, I’m longing so profusely to come and meet you but my face is not yet the face of someone who can appreciate your beauty. So I have to work on myself more.
