Please come at the forehead, in between the eyebrows; all of us, every ounce of our consciousness.

kit mukh gur salaahee-ai karan kaaran samrath

I don’t know how beautiful, how blessed are those faces, those tongues, who sing the glories of the Guru who is all powerful. The Guru either directly does something for us, or creates reasons for that thing to happen.

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ (karan kaaran samrath) - The one who is all powerful, capable of doing anything, and also creates reasons.

We all are here because of some reasons, and Maharaj Ji says that the Guru or the God creates these reasons for you. This is very deep!

When He is merciful, He brings us to the holy congregation, makes us meditate, tells us to make notes, how to hear, how to sing, how to focus. He creates reasons. Why make notes? Yesterday it was said in the Khajana Darshan that notes would prove to be one of the most beneficial tools to walk the path.

kit mukh gur salaahee-ai karan kaaran samrath

I don’t know how beautiful those faces are. My face is not that beautiful.

say mathay nihchal rahay jin gur Dhaari-aa hath

Upon whose foreheads the Guru places His blessed hand, only their consciousness comes at the forehead, becomes focused there, and they remain unmoveable from there; they remain still.

gur amrit naam pee-aali-aa janam maran kaa path

The Guru gives the disciples the Divine nectar to take them out of the cycle of birth and death. He puts them on the path of liberation, emancipation, freedom.

In 1699, three and a quarter centuries ago, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, in his 10th appearance, dissolved the power of God in the water and gave that water called Amrit, to the Sikhs. This was unimaginable, unheard of, that how can you dissolve the power of God. That miracle happened on this date, three hundred and twenty-four years ago on April 13, 1699. The power of God, the love, ishq, freedom, compassion, song, was dissolved in the water.

satgur kee banee sat saroop hai gurbaanee banee-ai

Maharaj Ji says, you are Gurbani, you are His utterances, you are the Ishq. You are the song of ishq. Through your creation He is singing you the song of ishq. You are not something small; you are the song of ishq. It cannot be imagined. It can only be experienced. He dissolved five compilations of hymns, five different baanees. The first is Japji Sahib - that’s about the truth that there is one supreme power, all is His creation, how He created it, how He is running it, how to meet Him, and merge with Him. Then the second baanee, Jaap Sahib - singing the glories of the Divine, endless glories! He mentioned about 800 glories of God, and he said these are not all your glories; this is what you have given to me to state. The third baanee, Savaiye, is creating the pain of separation from the Divine. The fourth, Chaupai Sahib, is a prayer to Him that please keep me in your Lotus Feet. The fifth, Anand Sahib, is the song of union with God. These five baanees are dissolved in that holy water and given to those who are blessed from His court.

Maharaj ji says that all the humanity; he did not recognize any religion; he said whom you call Buddhists, Jainis, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, they all are sitting at his doorstep. They all are his children.

Anand Sahib is the song of union with Him. We become free; free of the mind, just free like God.

Dhaarnaa:

nee baag maa-ay sajanaa daa, jeeHday vich dunee, maiN, tay oh aap

hokay ishkay day vaykh nee havaalay, ajaad paunaaN dee haa-ay udaan

nee pal-pal mukh chumadee, karay pahiranaaN naal athkaal

He makes us free like the wind. Feel the wind around you, look at the features of the wind; she has the features of freedom - life giving freshness. She kisses your face again and again and plays fondly with your clothes. How beautiful is the wind because it is free.

Those who become free, liberated, they become like this. The wind plays with things, plays with your robes, plays with the branches, the leaves of the trees, and all that. Plays, because she is free. We have never played; if we have played, that was not a play, that was the most stressful situation to win the game. Wind is not playing with everything to win some game. No!

nee baag maa-ay sajanaa daa, jeeHday vich dunee, maiN, tay oh aap

Dhaarnaa (end)

We saw that Richard Buckminster Fuller, after returning from the brink of death, wherever he went he created history. When he worked in a mill, he created new machines. He went to the army and created new vehicles. He went to construction, he created new ways. He unlocked the secret of life; the secret was that we have immense power, and the power is beyond the mind. We are on the path to unlock this power; it can only be unlocked through meditation.

We have been given infinite power, and we are procrastinating; I don’t want Amrit yet. I’m not ready yet, my mind is not ready yet. Your mind is not ready to unlock an unimaginable chest of most beautiful nuggets. Then we must see what we are ready for. We are ready for self destruction; we are ready for suicide; that is the path of the mind.

gurmukh kirpaa karay bhagat keejai bin gur bhagat na ho-ee

He says the Guru becomes merciful to you and gives you the gift of meditation. He gives you the gift of Naam. Guru gives us the key to unlock the inner world where the true wealth lies.

Maharaj Ji says keep these words with you all the time. Never forget that without having a Guru, you can never ever start walking, and keep walking the path of meditation. It’s impossible! He says it cannot happen without the Guru. You have to have a mediator who knows the path to the Divine, who can take us to the Divine; who has traveled that path numerous times; He knows every inch of the path, He can take us there. All you have to do is have faith in Him. He knows that path so intimately. You have to have a Guru. When we are given Amrit, we also are given a Guru.

aapai aap milaa-ay boojhai taa nirmal hovai so-ee

The Guru makes us meet with our true self, and makes us recognize ourselves; we recognize that we are the pure Divine light, we are the song of ishq. We find ourselves pure; pure consciousness, not full of the garbage. Pure consciousness full of the Divine.

Yesterday, the question was, what is the importance of listening to the hymns or the Celestial Music at the time of departing from this world. This has a deep connection to taking Amrit. Maharaj Ji says:

so aisaa har naam japee-ai man mayray jo antee a-osar la-ay chhadaa-ay

Maharaj Ji says that those who are blessed with having a Guru and walking this path, they live their lives so peacefully, love filled, with humility, without ego, so beautiful! But, He says the miracle happens at the very last breath of yours; He says the very last breath of yours decides where you are going to go after you leave this body. This is so interesting, and the truth is unbelievably strange! Your last breath is going to decide where you are going to go when you leave this world. With the last breath you are going to be taken out of your body, and with the last breath your last desire is going to decide your future journey. We’ll talk more about this tomorrow, what role Amrit plays for our future journey beyond this Earth.

Ji, we must have our priorities right.

We must all please sit down, and come up with what is the most important thing for me in this human life.

I was telling briefly the story of the American Steel company. In the 1800s, the Bethlehem steel company was founded. Its first president was Charles Schwab. One day, Mr. Schwab called an expert and asked him for advice on how to increase productivity. The expert handed over a piece of paper to Mr. Schwab, and asked him to write down six most important tasks that he has to do tomorrow. He asked him to write the tasks in the order of importance; first priority, second priority, third, fourth, fifth, sixth. Mr. Schwab wrote down the six tasks to be accomplished tomorrow according to their priority.  Then that man asked Mr. Schwab to put that paper in his pocket, and keep it with him all the time. Tomorrow morning, the first thing you do is the most important task, finish it, then move onto the second, finish it, then move on to the third, finish it. Do this for a few months until you see the results, and then send me a check for whatever you would feel my advice is worth. Few months later, Mr. Schwab sent that man a check for 25 000 American dollars. That’s 200 years ago; today that would be well over a quarter million American dollars for that simple advice. Within 5 years, Bethlehem Steel became the biggest steel company in the world. Later on it bought American Steel, and other steel companies. Its name was changed to American Steel. Even today, American Steel is one of the largest steel producers. That simple thing, knowing your priority was the key to this transformation.

The Guru makes us meet our true self. Tomorrow we will talk more about Amrit and its importance, not only during life but at the end of life too.

Dhaarnaa:

dasi-o vay ambaraaN day jaa-i-oN, keeHnay andareeN alakh jagaa-i-aa

Oh, my friends, who I have heard are born out of the truth, please tell me who it could be. I’m feeling some presence. Is He by any chance, the one about whom people talk about in every gathering. Is it Him?
