ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
Please sit straight, spine, neck, head, all aligned.
While breathing in, please take the breath below the diaphragm, push it into the stomach. Hold there for 3-4 seconds, and then release it slowly. We must exit all of the breath and our tummy should become empty so that the next breath can reach there easily. Please take deep, long breaths. Our tummy should inflate when we take the breath in, and it should contract when the breath is released.
Please come to the heart area now, and remain fully focused there.
nagaj tayray banday deedaar apaar.
Your devotees are so precious because they dwell with You, and Your virtues are being transferred into them. That’s why they are becoming so precious, so virtuous, so beautiful, and to behold them is so wonderful, so peace giving, and beautiful.
Many of the sangat are entering into that space of consciousness.
naam binaa sabh dunee-aa chhaar.
He says if God is not dwelling within you, then you may have all the wealth in the world, you may be the most powerful person in the world, you may be the most beautiful person in the world, you may be the most influential person in the world, but in fact you are ashes, dead! Life is not throbbing in you; your insides are dead, you don’t feel the life there.
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਦਮ ਸਲਾਹ ॥
achraj tayree kudrat tayray kadam salaah.
Whatever You create is mysterious. You created me; I am mysterious, I don’t know anything about myself. Even this body is mysterious. The consciousness is mysterious. Whatever you create is mysterious because You are mysterious. Moreover, the different ways you create are beyond talking; it cannot be talked about.
ganeev tayree sifat sachay paatisaah.
Oh my Beloved, you are the true king. If the worldly kings were really kings, they would have been peaceful and content. Were they really kings? No! They don’t know the kingdom; they don’t know the king. You are the King, and your praise is so priceless that if somebody lovingly calls You, You appear before them. How merciful, how graceful, how ishqful You are to Your creation.
neeDhri-aa Dhar panah khudaa-ay.
You are the support of the orphans. You support anybody who does not have any support from outside. If anyone quits all the outside support, you support them immediately.
gareeb nivaaj din rain Dhi-aa-ay.
You honor the humble ones, and only the humble ones remember You and love You. Egoistic person, You do not feel comfortable around egoistic people so You don’t reveal Yourselves to them. You don’t reveal yourself to the egoistic people because you are egoless.
We should look at the beauty, at the depth, at the splendor, at the mysteriousness of His utterances. Mysteriousness - we just get some gestures.
ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਾਣਿਕ ਜੇ ਇਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣੀ ॥
mat vich ratan javaahar maanik jay ik gur kee sikh sunee.
He says if somebody even gets to hear one instruction of Yours, just one instruction, his or her consciousness becomes priceless.
guraa ik dayhi bujhaa-ee
ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
sabhnaa jee-aa kaa ik daataa so mai visar na jaa-ee.
We think we hear His utterances but we don’t. An hour later if somebody asks us, we won’t remember it. It requires a great capacity to hear the truth. The worldly consciousness, the wandering consciousness, cannot have any idea what He is talking about. He says that if somebody gets to hear even just one instruction of Yours - say that one instruction is that His devotees, those who love Him, they become so beautiful. If somebody hears this one instruction, they would start walking the path because something has entered into them which will most definitely change their way of life. He says that a person can never forget if they hear even one instruction.
Dhaarnaa:
ਸੁਣ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਮੇਰੀਏ, ਮੈਂ ਜੋਗੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਇੱਕ
sun nee maa-ay mayree-ay, maiN jogee mili-aa ik
Oh my mother, listen to me, I have met a Jogee. He is called Satgur Jogee, the True Guru Jogee.
ਹਾਏ ਲੱਖ-ਲੱਖ ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨੀ, ਗੱਲ ਉਹਦੀ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ
haa-ay lakh lakh ratan javayhar nee, gal ohdee ik ik
Each of His utterances is like millions and millions of precious gems and rubies.
ਨੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੀ ਲਈ ਮੁੰਦ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜੋਗੀ ਵਿਸਰੇ ਕਿੱਤ
nee jinHaaN pee la-ee mund darvaajay, oHnaaN jogee visray kit
And those who close their doors - eyes, ears from the worldly sounds, mouths, mind, and then drink His utterances, they can never forget that True Guru Jogee.

baajee-alay anhad baajay.
How can they forget Him? Something Divine has been given to them.
Ji, please stay at the heart area feeling the presence of the Divine. While feeling Him, please lend your ears to me.
When a baby is in the womb of the mother, the baby is attached to the body of the mother through the navel cord and the mother’s blood and oxygen nourishes him. His mother is giving life to him, and he is fully aware that he is attached to somebody. He doesn’t know anybody but he feels that he is attached to some power. He hears his mother’s heartbeat, her sound when she speaks, and feels secure, safe. He feels the protection and remains peaceful. He can never ever think that I can be separated, I can be alone. But when he comes into the world, that is his first experience of being separated, of being alone, and what does the child do? He cries loudly, and is scared. This is his first experience of being separated, first experience of being alone. He’s so scared, he bundles up, his mother cuddles him and he feels some assurance that somebody is with him but it is not the same feeling as he had in the mother’s womb. He remains scared and when he wakes up at night, he starts crying, alone in an unknown territory. That experience of being alone, independent, separated from everything, gives birth to our “I”; it is the cause of all our insecurities, worries, fears, anxiety, because our nature is not to be separated. Until we go back into the womb of the universe, we would remain just like that newly born child.
The Siddhas asked Maharaj Ji.
kit biDh purkhaa janam vataa-i-aa.
A Siddha asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji that how did you reach that state?
satgur kai janmay gavan mitaa-i-aa.
Maharaj Ji said, I am reborn out of the True Guru; True Guru and universe are the same. When we hear the Celestial Music, we feel the Divine light around us, that is the womb of the universe or womb of the Guru. As long as we remain separated, life is going to be nothing but misery and scary, and without a second birth, we remain in the cycle of birth and death. Interestingly, the whole life that child keeps craving for the experience he had in his mother’s womb. He embraces his friends and relatives seeking the same, seeking that experience he had in his mother’s womb. He establishes physical relationships with others, unknowingly seeking that experience of not being separated, but he can never get that from anywhere outside. Hence, one remains in that tense, worried, unfulfilled state of consciousness. Maharaj Ji talks about rebirth; He takes us into the womb of the universe and then recreates us.
We can see now, can we put it off till tomorrow that I am only 20 years old, I will do it tomorrow. No, we cannot!
That letter from a child of mine who sends poems to me, is saying that I do not send you poems, I never write poems, I’m only sending you my state of being.
ਕਦੀ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਹੌਂਸਲੇ ਲਿਖੇ, ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਦਾਇਰੇ ਤਨ ਦੇ
kadee dil day houNslay likhay, tay kaday daa-i-ray tan day
The letters are sent to God. Sometimes I wrote how courageous I am, and other times I wrote how helpless I feel by being imprisoned in this body.
ਕਦੇ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਲਿਖੇ, ਕਦੇ ਜਜ਼ਬਾਤ ਲਿਖੇ
kaday aihsaas likhay, kaday jazbaat likhay
Sometimes I wrote to you my deep understanding of what you talk about. Other times, I let my emotions take over and wrote to you.
ਕਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇ ਹੁਸਨ ਲਿਖੇ
kaday deedaar tayray day husan likhay
Oh, my Beloved Lord, sometimes I wrote how beauteous are the moments when I behold you.
ਸੌਂਹ ਤੇਰੀ, ਕਰੀਂ ਯਕੀਨ ਚੰਨਾ, ਮੈਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿੱਖੀਆਂ
souNh tayree, kareeN yakeen chan-naa, maiN kaday vee nahee kavitaa likhee-aaN
I never formed poems. Poems come to our true self; they come to her, she does not form them. They come to her as Gurbani came to Maharaj Ji in the form of poetry. That is not formed poems.
Let’s do that Jat Pahara Simran. Please let us sit straight and look at the area just underneath the pubic bone. Let us take the breath to that area, and then squeeze the muscles from both sides right to the hip bones.
jat paahaaraa Dheeraj suni-aar.
ahran mat vayd hathee-aar.
bha-o khalaa agan tap taa-o.
ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭਾਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਢਾਲਿ ॥
bhaaNdaa bhaa-o amrit tit dhaal.
When we release the breath from there, then come with it to the heart area and collect that consciousness at the heart area at the home of the ishq.
Contract those muscles with all our might; more power, squeeze more tightly, with all the might hold it there, more tight. Now release it slowly and come to the heart area to collect it there.
All our thirsts, hungers are because we actually are hungry, thirsty of that nature of ours to not feel separated. But one keeps wandering in the wrong direction all of one’s life, looking for something which does not exist in the world.
charh naav sant uDhaar.
He says that the holy congregation is like a boat that ferries you to the land where you will not feel separated, where you will feel united with your source, with life, with God. And until you go back into that experience, you are going to remain crying and complaining. Even though consciously we do not associate the experience in the holy congregation to the nature of the experience we had in our mother’s womb, it is in fact a very dilute state of that experience; here we feel safe, not alone, not separated. The moment we walk out, again we fall back into the dreadful surroundings. How strange is the truth! If it weren’t for the Guru, who would tell us? So, Guru and the holy congregation are the most important on this path. Those who come to know the greatness, the glory, value of the holy congregation they would not miss it at any cost.
charh naav sant uDhaar.
bhai taray saagar paar.
Maharaj Ji says as soon as you leave the holy congregation, you are going to enter into a fearful environment. To protect yourself from the fearful environment, stay in the holy congregation. This is how you would, you can remain fearless.
One thing we should understand please, that because our mind is blind and this blind person leads us, he does not know the truth about realizing our soul which remains constantly connected to God, and is never alone. That’s what we are - souls, not these bodies, not the minds. We want to realize our souls but our mind says we can do it tomorrow; there is no urgency. Tomorrow comes, and then the mind says again, we can do it tomorrow. We have to understand that our future is in the present. If we want to stop this state of being separate, and reach the state where we remain permanently connected with the Divine, with life, then we have to do that today. He says:
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਮਿਲੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਏਹ ॥
sun man mitar pi-aari-aa mil vaylaa hai ayh.
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਸਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਹ ॥
jab lag joban saas hai tab lag ih tan dayh.
He says this very moment which is passing before you, is the moment to realize your true-self; not tomorrow! Otherwise it would never happen. This is the moment! Now, the next moment has arrived, this moment! The next moment has arrived, this moment is the time! This moment!
If we do not take care of today, if we do not work on realizing our true self today, tomorrow we are going to regret, repent, cry. He says see tomorrow in the now; I’m telling you now.
Dhaarnaa:
ਅਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਵੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ
aseeN kahiNday rahay, vaylaa hai ih
He says, I kept telling you this is the time, this is the moment, this is the day, how come you did not see it.
ਤੇ ਡਿੱਠਾ ਹੁਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ?
tay dithaa hun vich kal kioN naa?
Why did you not see your future in the present? Your future does not lie in the future, your future is in today. Today is going to decide what you are going to be tomorrow.
ਜੀ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਜਵਾਬ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ
jee sajanaa savaal keetay, saanoo aa-i-aa javaab ko-ee naa
My Beloved asked me this and I had no answer. My Beloved asked me, how come you didn’t see tomorrow in today?
My Beloved asked me this, how come you did not see the future in the now? And I had no answer
