It is such an honor to have Mr. Lucas amongst us. In the morning, he came to the Kulee to let me sit in his presence, and now he again came here to bless us with the dust of his feet. Even though he is the leader of a large Indian community, he is very humble and down to earth. He is a son of the Earth. I love how the Native Indian community is so close to Mother Earth, Father Sky; that they love Mother Earth and Father Sky so closely. They have great honor and respect for Mother Earth, and treat Mother Earth so respectfully and tenderly. They keep praying to Father Sky that please bless us with beautiful weather, with rain, and sun so that Mother Earth can give us beautiful nutritious food. He was telling us that according to them the year has 13 months. They consider the complete 28 day cycle of the moon as one month. We can feel how close they live to nature.
Few years ago, he was kind enough to invite us to his place. All of the sangat went there and he did the rituals and prayers to nature to protect us and bless us all. So, we all love him and pray for him to the Almighty. May God give Him long, healthy, happy, productive, and service-full life to his brothers and sisters. Gracias, gracias, Mr. Lucas.
Now please come either to the heart area or in between the eyebrows.
too thaakur tum peh ardaas.
jee-o pind sabh tayree raas.
Thaak means to stop. My Lord, only You can make my mind still and peaceful. On its own, it’s always wandering, feeling starved, suffering. This body and my consciousness are Your blessings to me, and they are your property. The other day we pondered over this prayer which we sing everyday at the end of the Khajana Darshan, in which He says:
tum tay ho-ay so aagi-aakaaree.
He says that, when a child comes into this world, he of course is created by the Divine but using his mother and father. So, he does not come into the world directly from God, but from God through his parents.
tum maat pitaa ham baarik tayray.
tumree kirpaa meh sookh ghanayray.
Because the child’s parents were used to bring him into this world, and his parents are time bound here on this Earth, so is going to be the child. The same way we are here, this body is here on this planet for a certain time. So we are mortals like our parents.
But He says, to whom you become merciful and give birth to them directly of you, they become immortal, because they are born out of the immortal Divine.
tum tay ho-ay so aagi-aakaaree.
He says those who are born directly of You, the Divine, only they accept Your command; they obey You lovingly. Because they obey You, only they can serve You and Your creation. Others who serve, that service is done out of our minds ego.
So we must understand this deeply please. You are so beautiful people that many of you have asked me; even this sangat from Cochabamba she said, how to be of God, and how to be for God?
Means how to be born of God, and how to serve Him? It’s one question actually, because before He gives birth out of Himself to someone, that person becomes so full of love and devotion for Him and egoless. Then he or she; it’s not he or she, it’s just the Divine light is born out of Him.
Even today, a son of mine from Peru asked the same question: what is my purpose on this planet?
So in that prayer, Maharaj ji says:
tumree gat mit tum hee jaanee.
naanak daas sadaa kurbaanee. ||8||4||
He says I’m a sacrifice to You, who becomes so merciful to those who long to be born directly of You. So, I’m forever a sacrifice unto You.
What do we sacrifice? Our false ego, our false self, the egoistic, the ego-centered consciousness.
Maharaj Ji tells us that there is a process, how to go through the re-birth to be born of the Divine. It’s the most beautiful process that he will lead us to. The same question was asked to Guru Nanak Dev Ji during His first appearance by the most accomplished Siddhas or Jogees of the time: how to become immortal?
Through meditation and through bathing in the dust of the holy congregation, we become more and more humble, and less and less egoistic. Ego-centered consciousness has no chance to be reborn of the Divine. So, we can recognize the preciousness of the dust of the holy feet of the holy congregation.
Dhaarnaa:
Oh my mother from where these days have arrived, where I am so generously being blessed with the dust from the holy congregation. They are coming from all directions to bless me with the dust.
kih-rhay daysoN, kis bahaanay, kih-rhay raaheeN aa-ay
From where these days have arrived, which are so merciful, enriching me with the dust of the feet of the holy congregation, making me egoless, making me really rich; making me really rich by becoming egoless.
ay Dhoorhee oHnaaN charnaaN dee jo, Dhur toN hee varsaa-ay
This dust is of the feet of those who are blessed from the very court of the Divine.
di-oN jinHaaN day hisay aa-ee, oh kiHrhee maaN day jaa-ay
And the days in whose fate that dust is written; these days, how blessed, how beautiful, how bountiful, how merciful; I wonder who would be the mother of these days; who has given birth to these so beautiful days?
bharay nain haa-ay kiNjh saaMbhaday, dul dul paiNday maa-ay
Ever since the sangat arrived, everyday it rains. Every day comes with its eyes full of water, tears. Those tears are not of sadness, but tears of gratefulness to God, and of joy, that God has blessed them with such rich property. They cannot keep those tears of joy and gratefulness, so they have to shed the water in the form of rain.
Dhaarnaa (end)
Sit straight please.
The question from my son from Peru, and daughter from Cochabamba, what is the purpose of life?
Two things are most essential to accomplish in human life. One is to meet, to feel the very power who created us, who is creating everything. And the second thing is to experience or to live by remaining in a God state. If we do not accomplish this, life is going to be just a punishment full of worries, anxiety, stress, and nothing beautiful we would experience.
We are the children of the Divine. We are supposed to be like our Father having the same state of consciousness, called the God state.
The meditation that we are doing, which Guru Granth Sahib Ji is leading us, makes us experience both - the Divine as well as the Divine state.
chit simran kara-o nain avilokano sarvan baanee sujas poor raakha-o.
With my closed eyes, I look within, keep His word, His name in my consciousness, and my ears fully filled with His utterances so my ears have no room for any worldly sound.
So let us meditate. Down below, say Wahe, and at the heart say Guru.
With love, gratefulness for the opportunity and fully awakened to the fact that I am to experience my Beloved. I am to have the direct experience of Divine through meditation.
Okay, ready!
Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru ……..
Come to the heart area please and feel with very focused subtle consciousness. Feel the presence of some power underneath the cage at the heart area.
The sangat from South America, please become more focused, more humble to feel Him. I’m saying to you especially because the rest of the sangat do this all the time, so they know it. While listening to me, please keep feeling the presence of power there. He says:
ham sar deen da-i-aal na tum sar ab patee-aar ki-aa keejai.
While feeling Him, this thought that oh my Beloved, I am utterly humble, poor, I have nothing. You created this body, you gave this consciousness to me, it is all yours. I have nothing, I’m just poor. There is nobody in the universe who is as merciful as You, and there is nobody in the universe who is as poor, humble as me, who has nothing to be proud of.
He’s telling us that humble consciousness which is subtle and so egoless, feels Him. He can only be experienced through becoming totally humble, and grateful.
Please ask the Spanish speaking sangat, if they feel something? If you do, then say loudly, Waheguru.
I am so grateful to God. See God is so close to us!
The Guru makes us feel God directly. Directly! He makes us go to God right now, and directly to Him; not after years of meditation, and doing this and that. No, just call Him and He’s there! Feel Him. Please do this meditation many times a day in order to feel Him more and more; stronger, and feeling His love..
Maharaj ji says:
gaavee-ai sunee-ai man rakhee-ai bhaa-o
He says when you call God, call Him singingly. Don’t call him dryly; your calling should be out of love, and love creates poetry, so your calling should be the sound of a poet. When you call Him, your whole being should be full of love, full of humility, and when you feel Him, there would be no trace of tension, or stress, or any worries, or any thought; you would feel so blissful!
The dhaarnaa which we sang the day before yesterday, that the Guru blesses us is nothing short than God Himself. He blesses us with the highest gift in the universe, God. At this stage, because we are not humble enough yet, we cannot fathom the depth or the value of this gift. But as we start becoming more and more empty of our ego, we would start becoming speechless, and remain full of tears with gratitude from Him.
navaaN hee paraaHunaa ik, aa-i-aa saaday shahir nee, navaaN hee paraaHunaa
Oh my mother, a new guest has arrived in our city. Have you heard that?
jay gaa-ee-ay oHday geet, beh sundaa oh kol nee
**Don’t say jay too long. Sing “jay gaa-ee-ay” together, quickly.
When I call him lovingly, or sing his songs, or sing his love songs which is, of which Guru Granth Sahib Ji is comprised of. When I sing Him, His love songs, which He has sent to me, He sits so closely to me and listens to me singing His songs, He becomes very happy.
dukhaaN vatay sukhaaN naal, bhardaa oh jhol nee
So when we feel Him, He takes all our pains from us, and blesses us with bliss.
aisee oHdee takanee ch, maa-ay ko-ee mihar nee
Such is the grace in His mere glance of mercy that He makes me blissful when I am so stressed, and anxious and worried. Such is the magic in His merciful glance.
Dhaarnaa (end)
I’m so grateful; no words actually for Him to bless us with such a place where there is no distinction between any community, any religion, any creed, any country, any color, any gender. We are all just taken as children of the same God, with equal status in His eyes, in His presence.
Now, let’s sing in Spanish that He takes all my pains and worries in exchange for bliss.
dukhaaN vatay sukhaaN naal, bhardaa oh jhol nee…… navaaN hee paraaHunaa
