Please come to the forehead, in between the eyebrows, fully focused.

Very humble, begging consciousness, begging him to appear, to reveal himself.

samrath guroo sir hath Dhar-ya-o.

Maharaj Ji says pray to your Guru to make the Divine reveal Himself, and the Guru will place His holy hand at your forehead and the Divine shall appear there.

samrath - all powerful.

All powerful Guru places His hand on your forehead, and the Divine appears.

Please feel Him with utmost fine subtle consciousness.

gurparsaad…..gurparsaad……gurparsaad

This is gurparsaad, the Guru’s grace.

jap tap kaa banDh bayrhulaa jit langheh vahaylaa.

Maharaj Ji says become so totally focused at Him that you should start feeling heat within. That Divine heat transforms the consciousness, purifies our consciousness like the fire purifies impure gold. Gold is purified in the fire; consciousness is transformed the same way.

tap means heat.

jat paahaaraa Dheeraj suni-aar.

ahran mat vayd hathee-aar.

bha-o khalaa agan tap taa-o.

Maharaj Ji says if you are totally focused, your insides would feel like on fire.

agan tap taa-o - like fire.

Feel the insides please. We should feel warmth, heat.

jap tap kaa banDh bayrhulaa jit langheh vahaylaa.

Maharaj Ji says, build a raft of meditation and self-discipline to cross the ocean of egoistic consciousness, and land on the other side with pure consciousness where our true self is. He says this is how you will cross the ocean of egoistic consciousness easily.

naa sarvar naa oochhlai aisaa panth suhaylaa.

He says if you have that raft of meditation and self discipline, then the five robbers - lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, will not be able to form a swollen ocean; that ocean will remain very shallow. That is the ocean to be crossed in which these five robbers dwell, and that is the mind, the injured consciousness; the consciousness which believes it is self existent, it is independent of His creation. He says if you have that raft, then the ocean of five robbers will remain very shallow. No big tides could arise in the ocean to swallow you; you would be able to cross the ocean easily, and the path would be so easy (suhaylaa).

A daughter of mine from Missouri wrote a letter in which she bares her heart. Deep within, she is so innocent but has been weakened by the mind. She writes:

Dear pi-aaray Baba ji, I’m a sacrifice to that time, I’m a sacrifice to those moments when I got to sit in the garden of your precious flower like daughters. Each one of your daughters is more beautiful than the other. They are blooming internally and seeing them makes the love within me bloom too. No matter how tightly shriveled I had made myself by hurting myself in this world, I’m a sacrifice to that time that I got to sit among your daughters and call myself one of them too.

ik doo ik charhandee-aa ka-un jaanai mayraa naa-o jee-o.

One is more beautiful than the other.

It pierces my heart and brings tears to my eyes when you say we are daughters of a very high home; home of the Divine. Sometimes I feel very inspired and uplifted, hearing and remembering that we are the daughters of a very high house, destiny. But sometimes I feel so ashamed to say this because I make mistakes over and over again. I break my promises to Him, to Guru Sahib. I do not keep myself as disciplined as I should on this path of ishq. I’m trying Baba Ji, but I slip so easily. Are there any non-slip shoes on this path? Before I used to not even know that I was sleeping. Now there is an awareness in me that understands how often I slip while asleep. The terrifying thing about myself is that sometimes I knowingly let my mind lead me to a place that I know is very slippery. I go there to get hurt.

We will talk about this sometime, why an injured consciousness wants to become more injured, and why a consciousness on the path of purification wants to become more pure.

I go there to get hurt, and when I fall, I cannot blame anyone else because I knowingly went there. I knew I would get hurt. Last night, the advice and guidance you gave to your daughters soothed my soul so much. As I was sitting there, I was wishing I had a father to give me such guidance and protection earlier in life; I would have avoided so many mistakes, I would have avoided so much hurt I put myself through.

Today there was a wedding, and the wedding party was sitting in the langar hall. Before meeting the sangat, I came to bow myself to Guru Sahib. I saw there in the deewaan hall that all my daughters were sitting there listening to Gurbani which was being uttered, sung. I felt so proud of them that it melted my heart; that they’re so wise, so awakened, they knew that the atmosphere was not conducive to their growth. After bowing down to Maharaj Ji, internally I bowed down to those daughters of mine. So awakened, so aware!

Letter from Missouri continued:

Baba Ji, your young daughters here are so blessed and lucky, and so highly elevated. I’m a sacrifice to all of them for upholding themselves to such high dignity. They are so elevated in their love for the Divine, they are so sincere in their yearning for their Beloved. Yet, they stay so humble. They long to make you proud of them.

Ji, I’m already so very proud of them as well as my sons.

I’m forever a sacrifice to these beautiful souls who cherish their father’s love. May I get colored in their love too?

Yes, baytaa (dear child). Self-discipline that Maharaj Ji talks about is needed; self-discipline.

The way Maharaj Ji tells us how to start the day, and how to remain inclined towards the Divine throughout the day while working, how to start the day with Gurbaanee, simran, and pondering over His utterances. Then how to finish the day off with singing sodar, aartee, sohilaa - those are non-slippery shoes. What Maharaj Ji showed you that you could slip, that is a big blessing. He is not going to let you slip now. Please stay connected with sangat and Maharaj Ji.

I was telling this story that there was a person named Stephen Covey. He used to teach others how to become self-disciplined. There were these rich parents who had a grown-up son, a totally useless person who would not do anything. He had no self-discipline. So, they hired Stephen Covey to talk to their son. Covey asked the young man at what time will you wake up tomorrow morning? Covey said, now promise yourself that you will keep this promise for one week, and I will see you after a week. Mr. Covey saw him after a week and asked him, did you keep your word? He said, yes. Then Covey said, now commit to yourself what you are going to do next. This is how that young man changed so much that he ended up writing books about making commitments and gave lectures on it. Self-discipline is making a promise to yourself. He said that when we keep our word, it gives a tremendous peace of mind, and a deep sense of stability. When we take amrit, when we are blessed to take amrit, we are asked to make a promise with God, and that makes it so easy to remain disciplined.

Tomorrow Maharaj Ji is going to bless with amrit the souls who are most blessed. This is the highest gift in the universe that God blesses someone with.

Focus, focus, focus please.

tayraa ayko naam manjeeth-rhaa rataa mayraa cholaa sad rang dholaa.

Maharaj Ji says that God’s name, if blessed by the Guru, that word Waheguru, dyes that being with ishq and that color is permanent. That consciousness is permanently dyed with God’s ishq! How beautiful! That is the blessing to the blessed souls who are going to be showered upon.

rataa mayraa cholaa sad rang dholaa.

You dye me with your ishq and that color is forever. Once we become ishq, there is no possibility of coming back. So, you have to be careful; you would never be able to come down again; and who would want to!

dholaa - my Beloved.

Then my Beloved dyes you with Himself, with ishq permanently.

saajan chalay pi-aari-aa ki-o maylaa ho-ee.

Oh, my dear friend, you, who is walking the journey of life, do you know how to meet Him? Or do you know whom the Divine meets?

jay gun hoveh ganth-rhee-ai maylaygaa so-ee.

Maharaj Ji answers Himself. He says whosoever consciousness has Godly virtues, He meets them; He meets only them. Godly virtues are ishq, humility, and gratitude. He says if you have these virtues in you, then He shall meet you. And how to have those virtues? Through the word blessed by the Guru.

tayraa ayko naam manjeeth-rhaa

Those virtues are inculcated in us by keeping the word blessed by the Guru in our consciousness, Waheguru. This word, Waheguru, because it creates vibrations in our entire body, from the lowest point in our body to the highest point. Because of this truth, it vibrates our entire body, it awakens our entire body. Then He starts coloring the awakened consciousness with ishq. Waheguru shabad (sacred word) is the key to open the door of liberation. Liberation from whom? Liberation from the mind. We destroy ourselves; we must be liberated from this false I.

jay gun hoveh ganth-rhee-ai maylaygaa so-ee.

Imagine the heart of the Guru from where these words were born.

Dhaarnaa:

Oh, my Beloved, I want to have a look at your heart from where such precious utterances come. I want to see your heart, and I don’t know why I need to see it; I feel so strongly to see it today, I don’t know why.

And my heart was so poor, so humble, I don’t know why I want to show this to you too. And I don’t know why I, why there is such a strong urge today that I must see your heart and show you my poor heart.

Dhaarnaa (end)

Maharaj Ji says:

sur nar mun jan amrit khojday so amrit gur tay paa-i-aa.

Maharaj Ji says the angels are longing so intensely for this most precious gift of Amrit. The Amrit that even angels are longing for, that is received from the True Guru.

paa-i-aa amrit gur kirpaa keenee sachaa man vasaa-i-aa.

Maharaj Ji says no one can take Amrit by themselves. It’s the Guru; whomsoever He becomes merciful at, He puts the thought in that person to take Amrit. The Divine puts the thought in us to take Amrit. Can our mind ever long for Amrit? Its world is in the bazaars, not Amrit. It’s His game, His play, whomsoever He chooses to bless with Amrit. He says:

hukmay vartai amrit banee hukmay amrit pee-aavni-aa.

He says it’s up to Him, whomsoever He makes hear Gurbani. It’s up to Him! And it’s up to Him, whomsoever He becomes merciful to and gives Amrit.

Some other time we’ll talk in length about Amrit, where the Divine’s power, the Divine’s virtues, Divine’s ishq is dissolved in the water. Water is the most sensitive transporter of emotion, the most sensitive transporter of spoken word. Water hears Gurbani, absorbs Gurbani, absorbs that ishq. Then that Amrit is put into our eyes to change our vision; that Amrit is put into our mouth to change our insides; that Amrit is put at the top of our head to open the tenth door. That is the key. That makes us ishq. We should also have our children who are seven years or more be blessed with Amrit. That’s a miracle!

Many times we utter the word Waheguru in our sleep; not physical sleep, but sleepy consciousness. For instance, when some people yawn, they usually say Waheguru. That’s not the sign of ishq for Him. When we start having ishq for Him, then while we are fully awake, without conscious effort His name would come to our lips; without our conscious effort because we have ishq with Him.

Dhaarnaa:

kayhaa bhaagaaN vaala din aa-i-aa….. kayhaa bhaagaaN vaala din aa-i-aa

jubaan tay aapay hee…..aj sajanaa daa naa aa-i-aa

Blessed is the day when, without any effort, the Beloved’s name decorates our lips; His name decorates our lips.
