ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
A child of mine sent a letter after leaving from Barsee.
Dear Dad, Since I came back from Barsee, there is a great urgency being felt at the hirdaa; I feel like running.
Please focus at both the hirdaa (heart area) as well as the navel point, keeping the Waheguru word in your consciousness. Feel Maharaj Ji is pushing us upwards from the navel point to the heart area. Relax, let Him work on us. Please vacate the house so that He can operate upon us. As we become more relaxed, we would feel that Maharaj Ji starts pushing us upwards with a faster speed. Let us please become focused on the navel point and help the Divine to push us upwards.
Guru…..Guru….Guru….Guru…..Guru….Guru….. Meditation at 7:30
Please come to the hirdaa and feel the Divine’s presence there, and you would feel like you are running. Feel pressure there that you want to move on; you want to keep moving. Does anyone feel the urgency to move on? This is what the writer is saying in his letter, that I feel urgency at the heart that I want to keep running; I don’t think this is the destination.
We are pondering over Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s utterances during His first appearance, that is Sidh Gosht and other baanees, and also the hymns He sang during His third appearance. This is one of His utterances from His third appearance, Guru Amar Das Ji:
sachai takhat rachaa-i-aa baisan ka-o jaaN-ee.
Maharaj Ji says that the whole creation is His throne and He sits on His throne because He is in every heart, He is in every creation.
These utterances are from the baanee Ramkalee Kee Vaar. At the beginning of this composition, Maharaj Ji says:
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
raamkalee kee vaar mahalaa 3
ਜੋਧੈ ਵੀਰੈ ਪੂਰਬਾਣੀ ਕੀ ਧੁਨੀ ॥
joDhay veerai poorbaanee kee Dhunee
Veeraa Poorbaanaa was a warrior and he fought with the pathaans. Maharaj Ji says to sing the hymns in this composition in the rhythm that dhaadee’s used to sing Veeraa Poorbaana’s praises.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥
sabh kichh aapay aap hai gur sabad sunaa-ee.
Through remaining united with the Divine with the power of the word blessed by the Guru, the Waheguru shabad, and doing meditation deeper and deeper, I recognized that it is all Him; it’s all Him! Even His throne is He Himself! He dwells within us, He has created us, and He has created everything else outside. This is His throne, He sits on the throne, and He Himself is the throne. This is hilarious!
To the new sangat: I want to say that we all came through the same door where the journey started. Initially when we listen to or read Gurbaanee, we think it’s His throne, He created the creation; it has nothing to do with me. We think what Maharaj Ji is saying does not have much to do with me. He says recite paath and your affairs will be taken care of so I should do paath. That’s what happens in the beginning. After a long time, we realize that this is for me only. He is not just stating that this is His creation and He has created it. No! It is for me; it has everything to do with me.
Please understand this. We have two options - one is to live from the mind; that’s when we are, this is mine, I did this. The other way is to remain united with Him.
ਮਿਲਤ ਮਿਲਤ ਮਿਲਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੪॥੬॥
milat milat milat mil rahi-aa naanak kahan na jaa-ay. ||4||6||
Maharaj Ji says that in the beginning we meet Him for a small amount of time and the mind brings us outside. Then we stay with Him a little longer, and then even longer, and then a day comes when we remain united with Him all the time.
Maharaj Ji says, rise up in the blue skies where your sense of separate existence is eliminated, and you are not. Be courageous
Right now we are. Whosoever realizes that I am not, sees that it’s all God. What a trade! God, in exchange for this false I. But only the rare one does this. Either we live to be and remain in misery, worries, anxiety, in the cycle of birth and death, or we live to realize I am not and see that it’s all Him and then it’s just joy and laughter.
Until it does not becomes a noise within us that I don’t want to remain in this state of to be; I want to reach the state of not to be; until this does not become a noise within us, does not keeps us awake, and does not keep us moving upwards, our mind is going to keep our speed very slow. So, please keep checking in with your insides.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥
sabh kichh aapay aap hai gur sabad sunaa-ee.
ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਸਰਾਈ ॥
aapay kudrat saajee-an kar mahal saraa-ee.
Maharaj Ji says He has created the whole nature and everything is His mansion; within every mansion is His throne. But for humans, His mansion is a resting place so that they can come in, rest, and be peaceful; get away from the maddening crowd of the world and leave behind all the anxieties and worries. He says come within and rest. I did not create you to be stressful, worried, and all that; that’s not life! I created you to recognize that you and I are one. Come within and rest, and if you like to rest within with me, then slowly I would let you see your true self. But it has to be your choice.
Nobody ever spoke to humans by coming so close to them and saying that your insides are the resting place for you that He has created. Don’t think the way the world is living is the only way. This is the nature of ishq - compassion, humility.
Maharaj Ji says:
ਜਬ ਉਦਕਰਖ ਕਰਾ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
jab udkarakh karaa kartaaraa ||
ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਧਰਤ ਤਬ ਦੇਹ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
prajaa Dharat tab dayh apaaraa ||
He says initially the Divine expanded Himself, and to that expansion of His, we call space. Space is boundless, limitless. First He expanded Himself and His expanse is boundless. Then He created everything else in the space, within Himself. So, space is nothing else but the Divine Himself. The space is nothing else but ishq. We are sitting inside the ishq, we walk inside the ishq, we are existing inside ishq if we can recognize it. Through meditation, we would come to know the art or His mercy when He makes us embrace the whole universe. A stage comes during meditation when the Divine shows us that if you do this then you can embrace the entire universe.

ਤਖ਼ਤ ਮਾਏ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਦਾ….. ਜੀਹਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਣੀ, ਮੈਂ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ

What a wonderfully beautiful garden is His creation!
ਨੀ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਰਹੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ……ਘਰ ਇਸ਼ਕੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਏ ਅਸਮਾਨ
nee gal naal rahay lag kay….ghar ishkay daa haa-ay asmaan
The space, which is He Himself, keeps me in her tight embrace.

Yesterday, we saw that the Sidhhas questions and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s answers were:
What are you searching for? I am searching for seekers of God.
What do you trade in? I trade in the truth, God.
How would you take your companions on the other side? By uniting with God.
So simple. No big, complicated answers.
The next question by Siddhas:
kit biDh purkhaa janam vataa-i-aa.
How have you transformed from a mortal to an immortal?
kaahay ka-o tujh ih man laa-i-aa.
How did you make your mind still? How? Mind never becomes still. We do all those aasanaas, yogas but the mind never becomes still. How have you made your mind still?
kit biDh aasaa mansaa khaa-ee.
Everybody is full of desires. How come you have no desires? How? We don’t see it possible but I see you; the proof that one can become desireless, one can become still. How have you risen above the desiring state of consciousness?
kit biDh jot nirantar paa-ee.
What process did you follow that you have transformed yourself to the Divine light Himself?
Once, during His first appearance, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was walking with His companions Bala and Mardana, and He saw an astrologer reading someone’s hand and telling him something. Maharaj Ji said, Pandit Ji, these lines you are reading are changeable. If you do meditation, all the lines would change. They are just showing the direction of your consciousness. Change your course and the lines will change. So, what you are telling is really not the truth. The truth is to know His command; if we want to be peaceful then we should know what He says about how to become peaceful.
jhooth na bol paaday sach kahee-ai.
You are telling this person he would have this and he would have that, but nobody can have anything here except God. You are telling all lies; nobody can have anything here. The only thing, if you will, you can have is the Divine. Please don’t lie to this poor person. Nobody can claim anything in this world as theirs. Nothing is going to be of this person. Please don’t tell him lies.
ha-umai jaa-ay sabad ghar lahee-ai.
He says, what you are saying is out of your ego, that you exist separately. The person who is hearing you; his ego is hearing; but if through meditation we reach the state of egoless consciousness, then we would know which is our true house. That is the only thing that can be ours. Tell him that; that is the only thing one can have, their permanent house in the lap of the divine, the soul. This is our purpose - to reach that state where we find this is my house.

ਐਸ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ…. .ਲਗਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਲ ਹੁਣ…..ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਾਨੂੰ….. ਕਾਹਲੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਪਵੇ
ais maiN naal saadaa…..lagdaa nahee dil hun……nee maa-ay sanoo……kaaHlee jihee pavay
I am so uncomfortable with this egoistic I which claims I am, and I have this, and I have that.
ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਇਹ ਕੂਚੇ ਸਭ…..ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ ਗੈਰ ਜਿਹੇ…..ਤੇ ਇਹ…. ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਬੇਗਾਨੀ ਹੀ ਲੱਗੇ
eih shahir eih koochay sabh…..lagday nay gair jihay……tay eih….maiN vee baygaanee hee lagay
This world outside, these cities, these streets, they don't seem mine. I don’t feel I belong here. These are not my cities, these streets, these homes are not my homes, and even this egoistic I, I don’t think it’s me; this too is something else.
ਬਦੋ ਬਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ…… ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾਵਾਂ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ …….ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਾਡਾ…. ਅੰਦਰ ਰੁੱਸੇ
bado badee kisay noo……aapnaa banaavaaN jay maiN…..nee maa-ay saadaa….andar rusay
If I say to someone that you are mine, that thing is mine, then oh my mother my insides become unhappy. My insides say you are lying; nobody is yours, nobody can be yours, nothing can be yours. Even if unwillingly I force myself to tell somebody that you are mine then my insides become unhappy because this is not the truth.
