ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
akhree naam akhree saalaah.
akhree gi-aan geet gun gaah.
akhree likhan bolan baan.
Maharaj Ji says you are here on this planet to transform yourself from human consciousness to divine consciousness, and you are surrounded by words everyday. With words we talk; with words we hear; we write words, we read words, we sing words. Maharaj Ji tells us how the words affect our consciousness.
God showed man a long time ago that when sound is generated, vibrations are produced, and those vibrations produce sound. It’s so amazing that we speak some words and they are released into the atmosphere in the form of vibrations. Those vibrations enter into a human ear or animal ear and then Maharaj Ji again converts those vibrations into words when the person hears you. That’s how we hear the words.
We know that the spoken word affects us; humans know that. But what Maharaj Ji is saying here is that even the written words affect your consciousness. This was never known to humanity. Only lately, during the late 20th century and in the beginning of the 21st century, scientists in Japan have been given the knowledge by the Divine that even the written word emits vibrations. What happens is that when we see a written word, the vibrations arising from that word enter into our eyes.The vibrations from the word carries the information that is contained in that word and those vibrations enter our eyes. Maharaj Ji has this arrangement that the information received by the eyes can either be received by the mind or by the heart. If worldly information is written, then that information goes to our mind, and if the information emitted by the words is non-worldly, then that goes to our heart.
Couple months ago, the airlines put on a sale for tickets. Within one day, all seats were booked. It was worldly information and it spread so fast. Since it was worldly information, it goes to the mind. Gurbani is not worldly. The vibrations from Gurbani enter our eyes and go straight to the heart. No one knew this until 20 years ago that written words emit vibrations. There are boards outside. The vibrations from words written on those boards enter our eyes and they are much more powerful than the spoken word.
Maharaj Ji is making us understand that don’t think these words are for nothing; don’t keep talking aimlessly and dont hear futile things like we see on phones and screens these days. Every word affects our consciousness. It’s not child’s play.

ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ॥
sach Dhi-aa-in say sachay jin har kharach Dhan palai.
Dhi-aa-in means to focus the consciousness and feel the Divine.
Maharaj Ji says those who focus their consciousness and feel the Divine, they also become the truth. Once we become the truth, even the most worldly conversation won’t seem worldly to us. Our consciousness then hears in a different way, understands in a different way, sees in a different way.
When the worldly consciousness sees something beautiful, it thinks I wish this was mine. When a consciousness that has become truth sees something beautiful, it says Wah Wah in amazement - Wah, Wah! Nothing remains worldly when the consciousness becomes the truth.

ਜਹਿ ਦੇਖਾਂ ਤਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਮਹਿਰਮਾ….. ਜਹਿ ਦੇਖਾਂ ਤਹਿ ਤੂੰ

There is a letter and the title is: Story of a Seeker.
Dear Baba Ji, 10 – 15 years ago, I started wandering around in the quest of the real purpose of life, and to find the real path.
Somehow, this person went to many other places as well.
Recently, with Maharaj Ji’s mercy, He showered his blessings and I was able to start listening to Gurbaanee.I started getting a little feel of the glimpse of the holy utterances soaked in nectar of true love. Even though I can’t understand all of it, I can feel them touching the surface of the heart, bringing it back to life again. Baba Ji, now I realize that if I ever want myself to be called your son, I can’t lose this battle. Baba Ji, I promise you, I won’t lose this time. I will give everything I have to get reborn again within this lifetime. I’m making this strong statement not because of the confidence in myself, but because of the confidence in Him. Initially I came to you just to ask the address of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Maharaj Ji tells us how to find that address.
Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ॥
sach Dhi-aa-in say sachay jin har kharach Dhan palai.
How beautiful! He says everyday we are spending our consciousness to get something in return, mostly worldly things. But those who spend their consciousness to collect the true wealth, who is God, He says they are also godly. But one day, with His grace, we would realize that we are not only godly, we are gods. No, we are not gods; this thing whom we call we, is God. The day we will empty ourselves, we will see this is God - look at what is happening inside God, Look God is speaking, and so on. We will clearly see that but it requires full commitment.The one who willingly forsakes the world, He gives them that blessing. We are doing it somewhat forcibly right now. Isn’t it?
ਸੋ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਲੈ ॥
so satsangat sabad milai jo gurmukh chalai.
He says, the one who undertakes the journey of life, the journey of breaths, by following the understanding imparted by the Guru; the Guru says remain in the holy congregation. In the holy congregation, Guru gives you the sacred word, Waheguru. Then keep the sacred word in your consciousness and meditate in the holy congregation. One who does that, Guru Gobind Singh Ji meets them. This is how you find His address.
sach kee kaatee sach sabh saar.
kaatee means scissors.
saar means steel.
Maharaj Ji says Divine is like the steel, but whosoever comes to Him lovingly, genuinely, He becomes scissors of steel for that person, and removes the falsehood from that person; what’s left behind is truth.
ghaarhat tis kee apar apaar.
He says Divine is such a surgeon that who reshapes you, reforms you, transforms you from falsehood to the truth.
What kind of scissors are these? Scissors of ishq! Those who have ishq, He makes them cry as well; makes them feel pain and asks - do you want to go further?
We were seeing when a child is born, what actually happens? Yesterday, we read:

ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਤ ਪਾਵਾਂ…..ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਵੇ…..ਤੇ ਤੂੰ…..ਰੱਖੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਅ
aakhayN taaN maiN baat paavaaN …..aj ik sajanaa vay……tay tooN…..rakheeN us baat daa naa

ਪੁੱਗੀ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਮੁਹਲਤ…. ਗਰਭ ਚ’ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਵੇ……ਜਬਰੀਂ …..ਜੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸਾਂ
pugee see jaaN muhlat…. garabh ch’ rahin dee vay……jabreeN….jag vich ghal ditee saaN
I never knew that there was a time limit to stay in my mother’s womb. And once that time was up, I was sent into the world forcefully. Nobody asked me if it was my choice.
ਅਣਸੋਚੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਜਦੋਂ…… ਵਰਤੀ ਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ….. ਜਿਉਂ ਪਰਲੋ ਭੁਚਾਲ ਗਿਆ ਆ

The child never thought that one day, he would have to leave this most protective, most warm place full of love, mother’s part, mother’s womb. That was unimaginable! When the child enters into the world, for him it’s like an earthquake that is going to end his life.
ਨਿਕਲੀ ਸੀ ਡਾਢ ਐਸੀ…….ਜਿੰਦ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਣੀ…..ਜਿੰਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਕਦੇ ਸਕੇ ਨਾ ਭੁਲਾ
niklee see daadh aisee….jind jioN nikal jaanee….jinaa sunee kaday sakay naa bhulaa
daadh means abrupt eruption of cry at the top of our voice.
Whosoever listens to that first cry of a child, can never forget that but we deliberately forget that because it bothers us. It has happened with all of us but we have been so trapped in the colorful lights of the world that we don’t know anything about where we come from, who we are, and where we are heading.
When the child enters into this world, his first breath is like he was drowning and he almost died, and then suddenly he was given oxygen. He feels like he’s going to die!

Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਰਵਰ ਹੰਸ ਧੁਰੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਲਾ ਖਸਮੈ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
sarvar hans Dhuray hee maylaa khasmai ayvai bhaanaa.
ਸਰਵਰ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹੀਰਾ ਮੋਤੀ ਸੋ ਹੰਸਾ ਕਾ ਖਾਣਾ ॥
sarvar andar heeraa motee so hansaa kaa khaanaa.
Maharaj Ji says swans eat only diamonds and pearls, the most precious food, and the Divine shows swans that tank. The same way those humans who are merchants of truth, God makes them meet the true holy tank, that is the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੌ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰੇ ਪੈਯਾ ਪਰਵਾਣਾ ॥
naanak tin kou satgur mili-aa jinaa Dhuray paiyaa parvaanaa.
parvaanaa means certificate.
Maharaj Ji says that those blessed ones whom I’m going to make them meet the True Guru, I inscribed a certificate on their forehead that you shall meet the True Guru. How beautiful! He says I give them the certificate before they go to the world; I write this on their foreheads that a True Guru shall meet you. We are those blessed ones, on whose foreheads he had inscribed that certificate.
Dhaarnaa:
ਸੁਣ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਮੇਰੀਏ….. ਮੈਂ ਜੋਗੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਇੱਕ
sun nee maa-ay mayree-ay, maiN jogee mili-aa ik
Oh, my mother, I have met a Yogi, he’s called Satguru (True Guru).
ਮੇਰੀ ਸੂਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੈਂ ਨੀ……ਰਹੇ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਨਿੱਤ
mayree soolee mayree maiN nee……rahay boldee nit
Our ego is our noose, our hanging. We are hanged; death happens, not to us with His grace; death happens to those who have ego in them. The ego keeps talking - I, I, me, me….
ਇਹ ਜਖਮੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਚੁੱਪ ਨੂੰ…..ਤੇ ਵੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇ ਸੱਚ
ih jakhmee kardee chup noo…..tay vays noo dasay sach
Our soul is still, quiet. When the ego talks, our soul is wounded. Our ego makes us believe that you are the body, while the body is the robes on my soul.
ਕਰਮੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
karmee aavai kaprhaa nadree mokh du-aar.
The body is the robes on my soul, and the ego tells me this body is you, that’s all you are, this body, while I’m something so mysterious.
ਬਿਨ ਜੋਗੀ ਦੇਵੇ ਕੌਣ ਨੀ…..ਹਾਏ ਇਸ ਕਮਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਤ
bin jogee dayvay kaun nee…..haa-ay is kamlee noo mat
Without the Satguru Jogee who would tell me what’s true, and what’s false.
Please come at the forehead, in between the eyebrows.
sach Dhi-aa-in say sachay
In 1566, India was all of today’s Pakistan, all of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Ceylon; it was that big, and Akbar was the emperor. Akbar was returning from Lahore to Delhi and Goindwaal Sahib was on the way. Akbar was aware of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s glory. From Bhai Jaythaa Ji, he had also heard the glory of Guru Amar Das Ji, the third appearance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after which Akbar told the pandits in his court that these people belong to God and there is no difference between God and them; one should not argue with them. Also, one of Akbar’s very wise ministers, Todar Mal, had told him that people worship Guru Amar Das Ji as the light of the sun, the light that enlightens our insides.
Akbar was returning with his forces, horses, and elephants because he had come to Peshawar near Lahore to suppress a mutiny. When he came close to Goindwaal Sahib, he got down from his elephant, took off his shoes and started walking barefoot. His servants quickly spread a silken cloth on the ground in front of him. When Akbar saw the cloth, he removed it and asked them to not spread it. He walked barefoot to Guru Amar Das Ji’s court to offer his prayers. When he arrives, he sends a message inside that Akbar is here. He did not say that Emperor Akbar was here. He sent the message that Akbar is here to pay my obeisance. Maharaji sent back the messenger and said, please ask the emperor to sit in line with the holy congregation, sit in pangat and eat with them first and then I’ll meet him. The Emperor bowed down to the instructions; he sat on the floor amongst the very poor, some very dirty clothed beggars and ate with them. Nobody had ever imagined that an emperor would do that. So, Akbar bowed to the Divine Jot (Light). We’ll see what happens next.

Pita Ji, I’m eternally grateful; every Barsee is full of grace, but this Purab and Barsee made me feel on top of the world, not out of pride but out of the feeling that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s message of love and peace has been gracefully planted. Seeing all the sangat sitting together once again and being able to sit amongst His saints; all the sangat are His saints; made tears of joy well up within me. When you were telling my brothers how they had blossomed, then part of me wondered if this child too was able to grow freely in His garden, and I remembered a dhaarnaa you once sang sometime ago.

ਲੈਕੇ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਝੋਲੀ ਆਈ….ਲੈਕੇ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਝੋਲੀ ਆਈ
laikay surtee dee jholee aa-ee….laikay surtee dee jholee aa-ee
Oh my Beloved, I have come with my consciousness as a begging bowl.
ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ…..ਇਹ ਮੰਗਣ ਦੁਆ ਆਈ
tayray pi-aaraaN dee fasal javaan hovay……ih maNgan du-aa aa-ee
I have come with my consciousness as a begging bowl. May the crop of your love within me come to blossom.
