After Emperor Akbar partook langar with the sangat, sitting on the ground, then Guru Amar Das Ji called him in, and the Emperor bowed down to the third appearance of Guru nanak Dev Ji with utmost humility. Maharaj Ji gestured him to sit before Him and very lovingly Maharaj ji reminded him that an Emperor of a country is the protector of all the habitants of the country, and the Emperor should never stoop down to the narrowness of religions and castes; for him everybody should be equal and we should always remember that Allah’s presence is in everyone and fear of Allah should dwell in us. There was deep silence there; a majestic environment filled with spirituality, divine hood. The Emperor became so attracted to Maharaj Ji that he could not take his eyes off Maharaj Ji’s face. Then he begged Him, oh the Divine Government (sarkaar), I want to do something for this court of yours; so many people are eating from here every day. Maharaj Ji said, don’t worry, God is sending us everything we require; there is never dearth for anything. Akbar pleaded with Maharaj Ji again but He did not accept anything. Then Akbar went back and he registered the land of twelve villages to the court of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. he sent the paper that you own the land of these twelve villages. But that paper was put in a small cabinet in a wall and it remained there. Maharaj Ji never took any land from anyone. Then, as long as Akbar lived, he used to send 120,000 rupees per year to Goindwaal Sahib at the function of Vaisakhi.
Let us bring our consciousness at our ears; at one ear or at both the ears. Please become fully planted there.
akhree likhan bolan baan.
akhraa sir sanjog vakhaan.
Maharaj Ji says whosoever meets God, it happens through words. The Guru is pleased at him and says, your affairs have been taken care of! It’s only words, right? sanjog means noble union. When God unites with someone it happens through words. The Guru is pleased at him and utters blessings; they are words.
akhraa sir sanjog vakhaan.
vakhaan means to utter.
The Guru utters words and because of those words one meets God, provided one earns those utterances.
This is very deep. If we heard what was said yesterday then our life would have changed, something would have changed inside. But if nothing changed then we must not have heard it.
Why don’t we hear Gurbanee? Maharaj Ji uttered four paurhees on this, stressing that you can’t hear, so please hear, hear (suni-ai, suni-ai). Why don’t we hear?
When someone says a word, those words become vibrations and reach our ear. If the information in that word is worldly, then those vibrations are going to go from our ears to the mind. If the information in the word is not worldly, then the vibrations from those words reach the ears and from the ears they go to the heart. This is how God has made the arrangements; it’s His hukam (law). When we hear some voice, if it is about worldly affairs then it is going to go to the mind. If it is of the divine’s world then it cannot go to the mind; the only path open to it is the heart. But if our consciousness is worldly then that consciousness is not going to let it into the heart. Now what happens? The non-worldly vibrations strike the ear; the mind won’t let it go to the heart, and it cannot go to the heart so it just dies in the ear and we never hear it. That is why we cannot hear Gurbaanee. That is why Maharaj Ji gives so much importance to hearing. God is going to meet the one who can hear.
When we become the truth, even if someone talks worldly, the vibrations go from our ears to the heart. For the world, it will be worldly information but for you it will be divinely. Heer Ranjha is worldly for the worldly people, for you it is not; for the worldly people the body is theirs, for you it is the property of God.
Similarly, when we see a written word, if it is worldly information, the vibration from that word is going to go to the mind; if it is related to the divine world, then the vibrations from that word will go to our heart. If the consciousness is worldly, then vibrations cannot go from the eye to the heart because the consciousness is worldly so those vibrations die in the eyes and do not go inside. If we read Gurbaanee and it does not affect us then this is the reason. If we recite Gurbaanee and it does not affect us then this is the reason because nothing went inside. It can only affect us when the vibrations go inside.
hohu saavDhaan apunay gur si-o.
He says become alert, fully awake if you want to hear me, otherwise my voice is going to die in your ears. If we are alert to Him, then the vibrations of these words shall reach the heart, and we will feel that at the heart.
Please stay there, and if we are hearing then these vibrations will strike our heart.
There is a letter:
Baba Ji, today when I was listening to Khajana Darshan, Gurbaanee, I started feeling them in my heart; my heart came alive. I was listening through the ears, but my heart was dancing. I was able to talk to my heart as a human being. I could feel the shape of it like a cloud, with a lot of movement within, something was moving.
That was the Divine.
jaisaa satgur suneedaa taiso hee mai deeth.
As I had heard about the Guru, I have been blessed with His darshan, with His blessed vision. He is exactly like I had heard about him.
vichhurhi-aa maylay parabhoo har dargeh kaa baseeth.
The Guru becomes a mediator between a seeker and the Divine. He makes the seeker meet the Divine because He is the mediator, He has the power.
What does the mediator do? One party says, please help me meet Him; the other party says help me meet them as well. The Divine says, make Me meet the one who is seeking Me.
har naamo mantar darirhaa-idaa katay ha-umai rog.
The Guru does not leave us alone until we become firmly planted at the hirdaa (heart area). In doing so, He makes us egoless because when we become planted at the hirdaa, we start dwelling with the Divine continuously, and thus, we are made egoless.
naanak satgur tinaa milaa-i-aa jinaa Dhuray pa-i-aa sanjog.
The Divine makes one meet the True Guru and then the True Guru makes us meet the Divine. This happens to the ones who were blessed right from His court.
gur jogee purakh mili-aa rang maanee jee-o.
gur har rang rat-rhaa sadaa nirbaanee jee-o.

This dust is alive because of Him, because of His fragrance, and His fragrance is ishq.

Please feel Him at the heart.
A very innocent, warm hearted, pure soul from Washington wrote this letter when returning from Barsee.
