ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਇਆ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ॥
pahilai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa hukam pa-i-aa garbhaas.
Maharaj Ji says: Oh, my merchant friend, just like a night consists of paihraas (each pahiraa is 3 hours), the same way human life can be divided into four stages. The first stage is when the Divine sculptures the child in his mother’s womb.
Please bring your focus at the navel point and feel the heat there as well.
ਉਰਧ ਤਪੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਖਸਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

Please understand this carefully. Who are we? We are how He sculpted us to be. Maharaj Ji says that in his mother’s womb, the child is upside down with his head downward and the feet upward, and his consciousness is a consciousness of prayer (ardaas). It doesn’t mean the child is praying for something, but that the state of the consciousness itself is a prayerful consciousness, supplicating consciousness. The consciousness of our true self is - ishq, gratitude, and supplication.
ਖਸਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਉਰਧ ਧਿਆਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
khasam saytee ardaas vakhaanai uraDh Dhi-aan liv laagaa.
The body is upside down but the child is absorbed in feeling the Divine (liv). Liv means ishqful. When ishq develops within us, that’s when liv starts to happen i.e. one starts becoming absorbed in feeling the Divine. He says the consciousness of the child who is in the womb of his mother is a prayerful and ishqful consciousness. Please understand this; this is the nature of our true self.
ਜੈਸੀ ਕਲਮ ਵੁੜੀ ਹੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jaisee kalam vurhee hai mastak taisee jee-arhay paas.
Maharaj Ji says that the Divine writes on the child’s forehead the nature of his consciousness, the nature of his deeds; what he did in his previous lives, what type of consciousness, and in which direction he is going to go. The Divine doesn’t write that this child will be a general, but He writes that this consciousness is military like. Later, what that child becomes is a different thing.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਇਆ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ॥
kaho naanak paraanee pahilai pahrai hukam pa-i-aa garbhaas.
When a child arrives in this world, we see that some smile while others cry, some are more calm while others are unpeaceful. Why? Because the nature of their consciousness from past lives accompanies them.
ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
doojai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa visar ga-i-aa Dhi-aan.
Previously, the child used to be one with the inner Divine light, Celestial Music, and feeling the Divine vibrations - he was one with God. Now, his focus is broken from God and he starts to develop some awareness about the outside. Earlier, in the womb, the child receives oxygen and blood from his mother; he would feel the mothers heartbeat, or when she walked or talked - his consciousness was engaged in that. The child had no knowledge that I am separate. When the child arrives in the world, we have seen how the Divine cradles him from the outside with Divine vibrations, and shows him lights of different colors, or makes him hear the Celestial Music from within. But now his focus is broken from God.
ਹਥੋ ਹਥਿ ਨਚਾਈਐ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਨੁ ॥
hatho hath nachaa-ee-ai vanjaari-aa mitraa ji-o jasudaa ghar kaan.
kaan means Lord Krishna. When Lord Krishna was born, his mother’s name was Jasudaa; she used to very lovingly play with him. Similarly, the mother, aunt, grandma, big sister play with the child. The story is very deep; please understand this with all your consciousness. This is about us and we must not revisit that path again. We have a beautiful choice. The child is picked up by the near and dear ones, they speak with the child, and make his focus broken with the Divine.
ਹਥੋ ਹਥਿ ਨਚਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮਾਤ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਤੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
hatho hath nachaa-ee-ai paraanee maat kahai sut mayraa.
All the relatives pick up the child, play with him. Mother says he is my son, sister says he is my brother, aunt says he is my nephew. Please see the story. Now, mine and yours has started. Earlier, this child had never heard these words; he was never aware of the words I, you, me, mine.
ਚੇਤਿ ਅਚੇਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
chayt achayt moorh man mayray ant nahee kachh tayraa.
Maharaj Ji says the world has made you forget who you truly are.
achayt - you forgot.
chayt - you should have remembered that you are one with a power; something that plays with you in the form of vibrations, sometimes it would show you different color light shows, flowers of light, music and now these people have made you forget that. They are saying you are theirs.
Nothing belongs to you here. The mother who is saying you are hers; neither she is yours, nor you are hers. You are innocent; you are in the hands of all these people now. Let’s see what the story becomes.
Previously we have seen that after a few days of age, the child starts to recognize this person who is his mother, and he starts feeling something else too.

ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਦੱਸ…ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਅ ਦੇਕੇ….ਘਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਬਿਠਾ

Everybody starts calling the child who is only a few days old; they start calling him by his name so the child gets to know what his name is. It has been taught to him that you are separate; as he grows up he understands that I am separate; my name is so and so, my sister’s name is this. Ego was put into his consciousness. There is no ego in our true self. Ego is something which makes us believe that I am separate from everyone. This child is being made to realize that he is separate, his name is different. Ego was put into the child’s consciousness.
Now what happens with this child. He is sent outside; even in earlier times when there were no schools, children were sent to holy places to study. So, this child is sent outside to study. What is he taught? He is going to become an engineer, or a doctor, or some other profession; his personality is shaped; the world moves his consciousness in a specific direction. A teacher has a certain perspective and a certain way of talking; a police office has a different perspective, a different gait, an engineer is different, and so on. The world makes the personality of the child. Personality means a separate person. We are all doing that to our children; the whole world is doing it. Then the world - parents, teachers, and whoever the child comes in contact with, they start giving the child a particular personality. It could be the personality of a teacher, a military man, a farmer, a sadhu - the child is given a different personality by the world. This is where the entire story changes. He was one with the Divine. Now his connection with God is completely broken and he is told that you are separate and you have to become this (engineer, doctor, and so on).
ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਬਣਾਈ ਫਿਰ……. ਜੱਗ ਨੇ ਸੀ ਰੱਲ ਮਿਲ……ਕੋਠਾ….ਅੰਬਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਬਣਾ

The child was one with the Divine, one with the Infinite. Being one with the Infinite, the child himself was infinite. Now, he is told that you are 5 feet 8 inches tall, not infinite like the skies.
His consciousness is taken so far out in the world that it no longer remains in his consciousness that I was one with the Divine. He is made to completely forget that.
praanee - one who breathes.
Maharaj Ji says that the human body is God and He has made a play. He breathes, and says that as long as I breathe this person is, and once the breath stops it is going to die. Maharaj Ji says, God doesn’t really need breath to survive, nor does He breathe; it’s just a play.
Doctors know that the heart, lungs, and kidneys do not stop working for even a moment from the time the child takes the first birth to the time he breathes his last. They don’t say that God runs it; they say it is an autonomous system (works on its own) - Baba Ji laughs. If it works on its own then who stops it?
The story is very deep. It is of utmost importance that we remain awake and help innocent children. We should do all that we can to keep their nature as close to their true self as possible. The true self is so loving; we should make children’s nature very loving by giving them love. When we love the child, he or she is going to love us back, then love him even more and he will love us even more. But there should be no attachment. Ishq does not get attached; it is not ishq’s nature to say that this child is mine. Ishq never occupies anything. God dwells within us, does ishq, but never possesses us; He says, you can go in whichever direction you want. So, we should give pure, pious love to children. We don’t have to buy them things to show them love; that is cheating with that innocent child. The child will see love in us; the way we talk, see our eyes, how we behave, how we conduct ourselves. Children learn from their parents so we must become truly loving, truly giving, truly humble. It is going to happen with meditation but until we become like that we must remember that; just by remembering it, our nature will change.
In the mid 1900’s there was a very popular contralto singer. Her name was Marian Anderson. She was abundantly gifted. She sang for the KIng and Queen of England, Presidents of America and many other famous people. When she was old, she was interviewed by this person who asked her: what has been the most precious day of your life. He thought she would mention some days when she sang for the King of England or President of America. She said, when I became a mother myself, I looked back and remembered how my mother loved me, that showed me how to love a child - that was the most precious day of my life. How beautiful!
ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਿਹਾਵੇ ॥
hohu kirpaal su-aamee mayray santaaN sang vihaavay.
Oh, my Beloved Lord, please be merciful to me that my whole life, I remain in the holy congregation. Oh, my Beloved, bless me with the boon that all my life is spent in the holy congregation. It is a supplication. Please feel that the Divine will come running forcefully. We will feel His presence not only at the forehead but everywhere; vibrations in the form of His presence, His movement, or heat within.
ਤੁਧਹੁ ਭੁਲੇ ਸਿ ਜਮਿ ਜਮਿ ਮਰਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੁਕਨਿ ਹਾਵੇ ॥
tuDhhu bhulay se jam jam marday tin kaday na chukan haavay.
Those who forget You put themselves on the path of reincarnation. They never become peaceful, they never experience what ishq is, what humility is, what sense of gratefulness truly is. The sighs from within them never cease.
He says give me your hand and then never doubt whether you are going to be saved or not. If I cannot save you then who else will.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹਛੰਦਗੀ ॥
jis no too parabh val tis ki-aa muhchhandgee.
He says one who has God on his side, what’s difficult for him!
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਗੀ ॥
jis no tayree mihar so tayree bandigee.
Whosoever you are merciful to, you bless him with meditation, with worship. Spiritual powers keep chasing him but he doesn’t even look at them.
Dhaarnaa: (at 57:47)
ਨਾਅ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਤੇਰਾ……ਮੇਰਾ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਬਣਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਅ ਕਰਦਾ
naa suni-aa jadoN daa ishq tayraa….mayraa ishq banan noo jee kardaa
ਮਨ ਲੋਚੇ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਚੰਨਾ…….ਗੈਰਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਅ ਕਰਦਾ
man lochay mash-hooree tay moh chanaa……gair-haazar hon noo jee kardaa
The mind wants fame and wealth and love but I want to run away from those.
ਨਾ ਵੇਖੇ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਵੇ…..ਇੰਝ ਰਹਿਣ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਅ ਕਰਦਾ
naa vaykhay tay naa ko-ee Dhi-aan dayvay….injh rahin noo barhaa hee jee kardaa
I long for that nobody should look towards me or give me any attention. Nobody should care for me. This is our true nature, our soul’s nature. It does not want anyone to give it attention. It is only concerned with her Beloved.

We are now learning how to remain peaceful for the rest of our life. Nothing should be able to disturb our peace.
ਸਹਜੇ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਥਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਜੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਬਾਦਿ ॥
sehjay gaavi-aa thaa-ay pavai bin sahjai kathnee baad.
Maharaj Ji says, whosoever remembers me with sahaj (peaceful and still insides), I come within them very strongly.
While returning back from India after Purab 2022, one of my daughters handed me this letter. She wrote some beautiful lines, addressed to God.

ਬਾਬਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਹਿਲੀਂ ਵੇ….ਅਸੀਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਉਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਾ ਚੱਲੇ
baabal tayray mahilieeN vay……aseeN pi-aar udaaree-aaN laa baithay
Oh, my Beloved Father, I have been taking flights of ishq here in your mansion.
