Dhaarnaa (end)
The hymn which was being sung just now in which He tells us to plead to Him with all your being that kindly bring me back home and make me walk the path to Your home.
kar kirpaa apnee bhagtee laa-ay.
He says it can only happen with your mercy, O my Beloved, I have no power to do this on my own.
jan naanak parabh sadaa Dhi-aa-ay.
Maharaj Ji says that those who know the magic of bringing the True Guru into their lives; the magic what the Guru does - the moment we look at Him, the moment we think of Him, the moment we hear Him, we are transported away from our false self. He says they remain focused, because it’s the focus, it’s the meditation which transforms us with His grace. Meditation with the holy congregation is the highest profiting meditation because we sit in a sea of consciousness which is moving towards the truth and we are swept away along with that.
Let us please write this word, deep in our consciousnesses: Dhiaa-ay - to remain in the street of love, to dwell in the street of love. So please always our Dhi-aan, our focus, either at the ears to drink His utterances or to feel them in the street of love.
Singing: Maharaj Ji says:
gaa-o gaa-o ree dulhanee mangalchaaraa.
mayray garih aa-ay raajaa raam bhataaraa.
He says through singing God comes to you. Such a beautiful path! Nobody could ever imagine let alone hear about that. Nobody could imagine that just through singing God comes to us. Singing opens the door to our transformation. Singing also implies feeling our insides at the same time while remaining focused. The transformation makes us the person we aspire to be. In fact, we can never in our wildest dreams know who we are, that how beautiful He has created His creation. When we recognize how beautiful, how true, how humble, how full of thankfulness this being is, we become astonished, and then there is no person left behind; there is no he or she left behind. What is left behind is pure joy, pure happiness, pure intoxication.
While I was in Toronto, all of us promised to the self, to each other, with God, that I’m going to make a new file, a new notebook, the heading of which would be: My Today’s Foolishness’. And we would write our foolishness’ in those notebooks everyday, at the end of the day.
Until we recognize that I’m deficient, there’s a great need for me to transform, and those of us who did not start those notebooks, we should sit down and think why I didn’t? Do I really never make mistakes? And mistakes are not that we are going to kill somebody, or steal something. No, it’s just the simple things that today when I saw that person, my insides became a little unsweet, I became unloving just by looking at him, my mind showed me of the past; what a foolishness I did. I wasted ten minutes of my time, that time which I should have used to transform myself. God says that I’m living with this person day and night and I tolerate him. You don’t even live with him, you don’t even see him everyday, and you could not even tolerate his existence. You can see how close you are to me, to God.
We should go over those missteps we took and learn from that. Before going to sleep, we should revisit those foolishness’, ask for His forgiveness, and beg Him: please keep me with You throughout the night, please save me from myself.
In Japji Sahib, Maharaj Ji says:
ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
kiv sachi-aaraa ho-ee-ai kiv koorhai tutai paal.
Asking him that O my Beloved, how I can become the truthful, how I can become the very one you have created. Let us sing like each and everyone of us is the only person in the universe who is singing to Him, pleading to Him that my Beloved, please make me understand how do I become the one you created. What I have become is my own creation.
O my Beloved, how can I retrace my steps, go back and become the very one you created? The answer:
hukam rajaa-ee chalnaa naanak likhi-aa naal.
First recognize what is His command and then recognize what is His desire, and then go from there. Each line of Japji sahib; these are the questions and answers which the most accomplished Siddhas on this Earth at that time existed, asked Guru Nanak Dev ji. This is the most profound poetry about all this, and his answers are worth hearing.
And what is His command? His command is that I have created you, a human, a person. For the persons, it’s my command that they can either remain as humans or they can reclaim their true selves which are divinely. It’s your choice. Animals do not have the choice; they cannot transform themselves, birds cannot transform themselves; nothing else in the universe can transform themselves except humans. If we recognize what a human life’s blessing is. This is the command that you have the choice; you have been given the choice. He says understand what’s His command for you, because there is a different command for everyone. He says understand what is the command for you, and what is His desire for you. Command is that I have the choice; I can remain as this and that’s what almost the whole of humanity is making this choice. He says you have the choice, this is His command, and what’s His desire? You are foolish to ask this question. Would it be my desire that you remain like this: tense, worried, stressful, hateful, full of complaints; can this be my desire for my offspring?
My desire is for you to come towards me to know who you are. Start walking towards me. When we put Dhi-aan (focus), we are withdrawing our consciousness from that “I” and walking towards Him. And we must do it, continuously.
How amazing! What the Japji Sahib is:
Dhaarnaa:

O the blowing wind, please come and sit beside my heart, and tell me, what was the year, what was the month because it’s not certain. He did not let anyone know so we are asking the wind.
Which was the year, which was the month, which was the day, which was the time of the day, when he sang Japji Sahib, and what was the season? What was the moment?
nee kay-haa dard see oHdee avaaj mah….tay jaaN nimaa nimaa see hasdee
What type of compassion; what type of compassion-full voice that was when you heard Him singing? What pain He was carrying in Him for humanity, or was He happy that He was revealing this ultimate truth to humanity? What did you feel? We are asking the wind.
Was that sound full of pain, compassion, or was there a hidden laughter in that?
Dhaarnaa (end)
satgur kee baanee sat saroop hai gurbaanee banee-ai
The meaning of baanee is sound, Gurbaanee means that which came out of the mouth of the Guru. He says Gurbaanee, the sound, the utterances which came out of the mouth of the Guru, is the sound of ishq; uttered by God, sound of ishq. He says, you are that ishq - Gurbaanee banee-ai
He says these utterances are nothing but ishq, poem of ishq, and He created you a poem of ishq. Every step you are taking; not the step our body is taking but every step our consciousness is taking; is a line of the love poem He is writing if those steps you are taking are under His desire.
If you are living your life as I desire you to live, then you are walking towards Me, and every step of yours is the line of the poem of ishq.
zindagee daa geet haiN tooN….khud noo pachhaan vay
Even the worldly singers, when they sing, and some people swing to their songs, they dance, and enjoy, and become intoxicated. What’s happening there? It’s their mind which is dancing, not the soul. Soul’s dance is never outside, soul’s dance is within. That’s the mind dancing, and through dancing one becomes intoxicated, and vice versa. That happens to the mind, but this is a song of ishq, Gurbaanee. He says Gurbaanee is a song of ishq, and if you know how to hear it, how to drink it, how to receive it, then your soul is going to become intoxicated and you are the soul. Your soul will become intoxicated, and then you will know that Gurbaanee is intoxication.
God Himself is intoxication. So, when we talk about Him, we are talking about intoxication and intoxication is flowing to us. Please reflect deeply on these things. Please understand this next line.
ik nashaa lainaa ik…..khud nashaa ho jaanaa…..dohaaN ch farak huNdaa…..jameeN asmaan vay
Those who come to hear Gurbaanee, hear Him, they would find themselves becoming intoxicated, peaceful, inner joy, intoxication. That is to receive intoxication from somebody else. And when He says you are the nashaa (intoxication), there is a difference between receiving nashaa from another being and recognizing that I am the intoxication.
Even though we become peaceful here, we become joyful here, we become intoxicated here, but this is not our true self yet. This is not our true self yet because we are getting that from somebody who is away from us.
Please re-listen to this.
Poetry means, poem means which cannot be written as a story, which cannot be explained. Poem is a mystery. Poem should be left as a poem; that beauty should be left intact. We should not try to explain; the beauty is gone, and the explanation never takes place. Gurbaanee cannot be explained. Had it been able to explain, He would have written it as a story, love story. This is the beauty; real beauty is always a mystery. If someone’s inside becomes that beauty, we can witness a glimpse of it but we can never understand that beauty.
The difference between taking the intoxicant from outside and recognizing that I’m the source of the intoxication; I myself am an intoxicant. The difference between the two is as wide as the difference between the earth and the skies.
ik nashaa lainaa ik…..khud nashaa ho jaanaa…..dohaaN ch farak huNdaa…..jameeN asmaan vay
Please preserve this intoxication whatever amount He has put into us. Let us save it because this is the most precious wealth a human consciousness can ever have. The most precious wealth a human consciousness can ever have is the truth, and truth is the true intoxication.
All of us please, let us make our own groups and sit together everyday and go over that day’s Khajana Darshan, and tell each other what I understand. We would enrich each other by doing so, please we should do this everyday.
