ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
In the very first stanza of Japji Sahib, in the very beginning of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Guru Nanak Dev Ji tells us: even if you become the ruler of the entire universe, you are still going to remain unpeaceful, unfulfilled. Even if you become the owner of all the wealth in the universe, you are still going to remain a beggar. He states these things. Nothing can make your inner noise stop in the world, no matter what you have and what you become in the world, period! You are going to remain in great turmoil, worries, and stress. Then, in the very first stanza He tells us the very purpose of human life.
ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
kiv sachi-aaraa ho-ee-ai kiv koorhai tutai paal.
He says the purpose of human life is to recognize the true self.
Then later on in Japji Sahib, He says:
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
ant na jaapai ki-aa man mant.
He says, nobody can ever understand God's purpose of creating this play. How beautiful! What is God’s purpose? Why is He playing the play? What is His purpose? Maybe to remain busy (Baba Ji laughs).
Think about this - 39 stanzas of Japji Sahib explain how this play began.
keetaa pasaa-o ayko kavaa-o
He says, God roared once and created all of this. He said it 550 years ago, and only 30 years ago this secret was revealed to Dr. Stephen Hawking which he called The Big Bang. 500 years later God showed that to man but Guru Nanak Dev Ji is saying this is how it happened. Then He says:
ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਪਵਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਪਵਨੈ ਤੇ ਜਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
saachay tay pavnaa bha-i-aa pavnai tay jal ho-ay.
He says that God first created very light gasses like Helium, then he created heavy gasses like Oxygen, and from these gasses he created water. Now we know water is H2O. How could He know? He must have been there when the play started. And who could be there when the play started? Could there have been anyone else but God?
Maharaj Ji says if you don’t have any purpose in life then your journey is going to be from your mother’s womb to the cemetery. But if you know why you are here and what your purpose is, then your journey would be from the womb of your mother to the womb of the Divine. He says this in the first stanza of Japji Sahib.
Rest is up to us. Some who come to know the purpose quickly come and sit in Maharaj Ji’s lap, and others come slowly and walk in so late. It all depends on how clear the purpose of life is to us. Very seldom does somebody have a very clear purpose. All of us are trying to balance this and that. All we need is a clear cut purpose. Then everything else will be put into their places.
Everybody is asking, what is my purpose of being here? The purpose is the same for all humans. It is another thing how we take that. Someone says, I have this talent so this is my purpose. That talent should be used in serving humanity and that can only happen if we first realize who we are.
Please study Japji Sahib. It explains everything - how the whole game started, how it is being run, what are the stages of reaching our destination, the answer to every possible question humans can have is there. Every question’s answer is in one small line and the answer is so deep; we have to unlock that line.
We have been asking the wind: O the blowing wind, please stop here, sit by my heart and tell me when you heard Him sing Japji, what type of vibrations you felt from Him? Tell me. We have been asking, and today we are going to see what the wind says.

ਸੁਣ ਅਰਜ ਨੀ ਵਾਏ…ਵੱਗਦੀਏ…..ਆ ਬੈਠ ਦਿਲੇ ਦੇ…. ਪਾਸ ਨੀ

The wind says that you seem to be a beautiful soul who has asked me these questions - which was the year, the month, the day, the season when He sang Japji. You seem to be such a beautiful soul. Nobody has ever asked me this; everybody seems so busy in their mundane lives.
ਨੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਤਰੰਗਤ….. ਸੋਹਣੀਏ…..ਉਹਦੀ ਧੜਕਨ ਮੇਰੇ….. ਵਿੱਚ ਨੀ

When His sound entered into my being, into my heart, and I started vibrating with His vibrations of His sound, I became so profoundly intoxicated and ever since I am so profoundly intoxicated, I have no idea which was the year, the month, the date.
ਅੱਜ ਤੱਕ ਨਾ ਪਰਤੀ….. ਹੋਸ਼ ਨੀ…..ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਰਹਾਂ….. ਗੜੁੱਚ ਨੀ
aj tak naa partee…… hosh nee…..vich nashay day rahaaN…….garhuch nee
Since then I have never come back to my senses; I remain in that state. I have just heard you; it feels like someone is talking to me from a distance. I am not in my senses.
ਕੋਈ ਯਾਦ ਨਾ ਦਿਨ….. ਮਹੀਨੜਾ….. ਤੇ ਨਾ ਖਬਰ ਹਈ ਉਸ….. ਰੁੱਤ ਦੀ
ko-ee yaad naa din…..maheenarhaa…..tay naa khabar ha-ee us…rut dee
ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਵਖਤੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਕਵਣ ਥਿਤਿ ਕਵਣੁ ਵਾਰੁ ॥
kavan so vaylaa vakhat kavan kavan thit kavan vaar.
ਕਵਣਿ ਸਿ ਰੁਤੀ ਮਾਹੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹੋਆ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
kavan se rutee maahu kavan jit ho-aa aakaar.

Bhai Gurdas Ji says:
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਬਾਬਾ ਗਾਵੀਐ ਵਜਨਿ ਤਾਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗੁ ਰਬਾਬਾ।
ghar ghar baabaa gaavee-ai vajan taal mirdaNg rabaabaa
Guru Nanak Dev Ji went to the holiest places of the Muslims, Hindus, Christians and lovingly told everyone what is the purpose of having a religion; what is the purpose of adopting a religion; what is the purpose of human life and how to achieve that purpose.
After Guru Nanak Dev Ji said this to the whole world, in every house string instruments and small drums (jorhee) arrived, and people started singing the glories of God. Every time they sang the glories of God, Guru Nanak Dev Ji would come to their memory that He made us aware of this. In every house, God’s glories started being sung, not only in the houses of mud or marble, but also the houses of human bodies. It was such an astonishing scene that this wave started.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਅਜਬੁ ਅਜਾਬਾ।
bhagat vachhal ho-i aa-i-aa patit uDhaaran ajab ajaabaa
People found Guru Nanak Dev Ji so strange, so amazing, so mysterious, and He loved very dearly those who loved God.
ਚਾਰਿ ਵਰਨ ਇਕ ਵਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਰਾਬਾ।
chaar varan ik varan ho-i saaDhasaNgat mil ho-i taraabaa
He made everybody sit on the ground at the same level, and he called that saadhsangat - the holy congregation. In order to remove this thinking of lower and higher, He said, nobody is higher or lower, it’s all Divine light.
ਚੰਦਨੁ ਵਾਸੁ ਵਣਾਸਪਤਿ ਅਵਲਿ ਦੋਮ ਨ ਸੇਮ ਖਰਾਬਾ।
chandan vaas vanaasapat aval dom na saym kharaabaa
As a sandalwood tree distributes its fragrance to everyone without discrimination, same way Guru Nanak Dev Ji was distributing His fragrance to everyone irrespective of their country, religion, gender, beliefs.
ਜਾਹਰ ਪੀਰੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਾਬਾ ॥
jaahar peer jagat gur baabaa
People started saying that He is the Guru of the whole humankind.
Throughout the ages, many distinguished people read Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message. Yesterday we saw what the Dalai Lama said. The current Secretary General of the United Nations says: Guru Nanak’s teachings remind us about the importance of recognizing Oneness and living a life of righteousness and serving others. The former President of America, Barack Obama writes: Guru Nanak’s legacy is a testament to the power of spiritual wisdom and love in shaping a just and inclusive society.
We should listen to His voice. It’s a good thing Guru Granth Sahib Ji does not have a human form otherwise many people in the world might have difficulty; nobody should have difficulty in listening to Him.
Tomorrow, a very beautiful day is arriving when Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists - they all will sit together, eat together, and talk about what we can do to infuse humankind with this truth, Guru Nanak’s truth.

ਬਲਿਆ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ….ਬਲਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ
bali-aa nee maa-ay……bali-aa vay lokoN
ਚਿਰਾਗ ਹੁਸਨ ਦਾ….ਬਲਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ
chiraag husan daa……bali-aa vay lokoN
O my mother, O people, the beautiful Divine light’s lamp has lit up.
ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਇਸਾਈ…..ਨੂਰ ਹੀ ਨੂਰ ਸਭ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ
naa ko-ee hindoo muslim isaa-ee…..noor hee noor sabh khirhi-aa vay lokoN
Nobody is Hindu, nobody is Christian, nobody is Jew, it’s all His Divine light. Sikh means one who wants to learn how to become truthful. So, we cannot say nobody is Sikh; it means nobody is there to learn how to become truthful. There is Hindu, no Muslim, no Christian, it’s all His Divine light. Recognize the beauty of everyone, it’s His Divine light manifesting.
It’s His Divine light blossoming everywhere. Everyone you see - it’s His Divine light blossoming. Don’t divide humanity into boxes. Do not destroy their beauty. Do not destroy their truth.
ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ….ਕੁਦਰਤ ਕਰ ਚਾਅ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ
ik doojay noo dayn vaDhaa-ee-aaN…….kudrat kar chaa charhi-aa vay lokoN
Only humans do not recognize that it is all Him. The whole creation recognizes it and is filled with so much love, joy, and excitement; they are felicitating each other. Felicitations! You are His manifestation! Another tree talks back to that tree - Felicitations to you too! You too are His Divine light manifesting! The whole creation is felicitating each other. How beautiful His creation is! How beautiful we are, because we are a part of His creation His creation is nothing but His manifestation through His creation. The whole creation is congratulating each other. One flower says to the dog: you know you are His manifestation! And the dog barks back: you are His manifestation too!
ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ….ਕੁਦਰਤ ਕਰ ਚਾਅ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ

In His Fifth appearance he said, that Divine light that lit up in 1469.
In His Tenth appearance, He said that Divine light is the light of eternal beauty of the Divine.
ਕਿ ਹੁਸਨਲ ਚਰਾਗ਼ ਹੈਂ ॥

ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਹੈਂ ॥
ki saahib dimaag haiN ||
The wisdom of the Divine lamp is the same as the wisdom of the Divine, because the Divine lamp is the Divine Himself. And what is there in God’s wisdom? It’s the treasure of truth.
ਸੱਚ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਵੀ….. ਆਖਦੇ ਇਹਨੂੰ….ਧੁੱਪ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ….. ਭਰਿਆ ਵੇ ਲੋਕੋਂ
sach khajaanaa vee aakhday ihnoo…..Dhup si-aanapaaN naal…..bhari-aa vay lokoN
It sheds light first and then talks. He says, look at the flower, it is laughing isn’t it? When it laughs, it’s fragrance comes out, it distributes fragrance.
But why does it distribute fragrance?
It is the Divine manifesting as a flower. The Divine Himself is the fragrance of ishq. He is going to distribute; He is a giver, it’s His nature to give. Your nature is to ask silly questions (Baba Ji laughs).
This Divine lamp is also called the treasure of truth, a treasure of illuminating wisdom; treasure of wisdom which illuminates our insides, and spreads the light outside to show us.
