The fruit of meditation from past lives, some blessed souls received Amrit today, and their name is now on the list for rebirth of their consciousness. Many, many, congratulations to all!
Let us please focus our consciousness.
agam agochar alakh apaaraa
agam – who cannot be reached. We cannot meet God, He comes and meets us.
agochar – who cannot be seen with these eyes, cannot be heard with these ears, and cannot be touched with these hands. When we feel Him, our inside hands touch Him.
alakh – one who cannot be described.
apaara – one who has no limits like the sky or the universe.
Agam - O’ my Beloved, you, to whom no one can reach, whenever you become merciful upon somebody, only you come to meet Him. Agochar - You, my Beloved, who cannot be seen with these eyes, cannot be heard with these ears, and cannot be touched with these hands. So, whenever we feel His touch, it is through His insides. Even when we feel Him in our hands, He is felt under the skin. Apaaraa – infinite.
agam agochar alakh apaaraa chinta karho hamaaree
O’ my Beloved, please be concerned for me. Look at my state! I remain tense, worried, anxious, unpeaceful.
Please understand these conversations with Him. If a fire lights up within us that I have to do this – I have to meet my true self, I have to become like this! These utterances describe such a state. See how intimate the conversation is – please be concerned for me. One cannot tell a stranger that please be concerned for me – right ? See how intimate the relationship is. Maharaj Ji says that your relationship with the Divine must be so intimate that you can talk your innermost desires to Him without any hesitation. chinta karo – please be worried about me!
chinta karo hamaaree, chintaa karo hamaaree
jal thal mahial bharpur leenaa ghat ghat jot tumharee
You are in the waters, on the land, inside the land, in the skies, in the space – everywhere it is you! In everyone it is your Divine light.
bharpur – The whole universe is full of you. There is nothing in the universe except you.
leena means connected, in a way the ocean is a huge body of water but actually it is a collection of droplets, and those droplets are connected with each other, leen with other droplets. Similarly, Maharaj Ji says, You are in everything like those small droplets which are connected to each other. We are all connected - our true self can see it. Maharaj Ji says:
atma paraatma eko kare.
One can see that my atma (soul) and another atma are connected.
atma paraatmaa eko karey
antar kee dubidha antar marey
The duality that existed, dies within.
What a season, what a day, what a life it would be!
Maharaj Ji is saying that when you recognize your true self, you would also recognize that everyone is the same as who you are. Everyone’s real self is the same as yours.
We have been seeing how words – spoken and written words affect our consciousness. Words are preceded by thoughts and those thoughts are then expressed through words. That means our thoughts affect our consciousness. It changes our state – brings it down, keeps it where we are, or uplift us.
Our consciousness becomes affected by the spoken and written words. But the words are nothing but the audible sound of thoughts. In other words, whichever thought comes to us, that affects our consciousness, that changes our consciousness. Negative thoughts bring the consciousness down, positive thoughts uplift our consciousness. Please note this - one should never say, when I become my true self. His creation operates precisely according to His laws and stays within it. Maharaj Ji also calls this dar or fear. Nature is very innocent, it doesn’t see anything as good or bad, it just knows to stay within His hukam, His laws. If we say, when I get better, nature interprets that you don’t want to feel better now so I will let you be. Nature is very sensitive, reads our thoughts like an innocent child. We cannot say, I didn’t mean that I don’t want to get better. Nature says, you meant you don’t want to feel better now so I let you be. So, please be very aware. Living life without awareness (avesle) is wasting life. When we speak, we should see what my thought is, what words am I speaking. One should never say, when I get better. Instead, say, I am getting better, God is making me better every day, and the first thing we should do every morning is to thank Him with a deep realization that He is making me better, without any doubt! If you have doubts, nature would say you don’t trust me. If the patient doesn’t trust the doctor how can he or she be cured. Gradually, one day will come, when we have transformed so much that we will say, I have become better, even if we haven’t become better completely but that moment comes when nature says now I have to make you feel better! It is in our hands!
ja too mere val hai ta kya mohchandaa
tudh sab kich maino saupyaa jaa teraa bandaa
God has given us all of the powers in our hands, but we are not aware of it.
Please, from now on, we must remain very careful not to utter the negative words, not to entertain the negative thoughts. Suppose we are not well, we should never say, I am not well and when I get well, I will go to India – no! When the nature sees our thoughts that I am saying, I am not well, it does not tell the nature that I want to become well. This is the secret – how does the nature read us, and it reads us every moment! So, the first thing is to do ardas (prayer) to Him with all our being that please make me well. Then, from that moment onward, believe that He is curing me. Every morning we should thank Him for curing us and we must remain in an unwavering faith. One day, we will find so much strength in us that a thought would come that I am cured. Then, you most certainly are cured. The announcement has been made in the heavens, in His court, that you are cured!
So, we should be very careful not to talk about unnecessary things. Unknowingly, we hurt ourselves. As we get closer to our true self, we will see it. So, from now on, we are not going to say, wen I become my true self. Instead, we are going to say, I am becoming my true self everyday. Everyday, thank Him that You are taking me closer to my true self. I was lost and you are taking me closer to my true self. This will also make us feel compassionate towards others and life will be more beautiful. We will feel like helping others.
nee maye mera jee karda, gam kul sakhiyaaN de pee jaavaN
O’ my mother, I wish I could drink up all the worries of my sister friends. I want to see them happy, laughing, dancing within.
nee theh hoye andraaN ch, baal deevay deewaliyaN liyaavaaN
My sister friends who feel that their insides are nothing but all darkness, negativity, a feeling of defeat, I want to light up lamps and bring joy to their insides.
nee bevaastaa jehay moohaaN vaaliyaaN, lalaariyaaN dee hut lai ke jaavaaN
nee maye mera jee karda
and those my sister friends who feel so defeated in life and they have come to the state that I have nothing to do with anyone, everybody here is like this. Those who feel that they don’t have any emotions for anyone, I want to take them to the shop of this ishq and have them imbued with ishq.
Life demands determination. Those who have determination, nature gives them whatever they ask for. Nature creates opportunities for them; nature means the Divine laws. The Divine laws operate all around us and create opportunities. For example, nature is creating opportunities for us to meet our true self by bringing us to Sangat. This is how nature works, it creates opportunities.
I was saying that life brings with it good days and bad days, laughter and tears, days and nights, flowers and thorns. Life should be like that otherwise life would be dead. We should remain conscious of a couple things then everything will turn out fine.
sanmaan jioonde mandraN daa, bharosa rab te daleri vay
Respecting the human body, the human consciousness that God has blessed us with. Maharaj Ji gave us the Siri Sahib (one of the five articles of faith, the sword) is to respect this holy temple – that it is a precious temple, and I will do anything to save it. Our human body is an alive temple, an alive Gurudwara, an alive court of God in which we feel him. Firstly, we must have utter respect for our body and other bodies because they are living temples of God. Secondly, we must have unwavering faith on God, and third, be courageous.
eh tinnay sambhal rakheeN, chautha dheeraj zarooree ay
Please preserve these three and the fourth one is perseverance, patience. Be patient, it is necessary.
fer aukadaN zindagee diyaaaN, tera mukh lishkaungiyaaN
Then the difficulties of life would make your face shine.
Even though it was the same Divine light in all ten appearances of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after the first appearance, it was the Tenth appearance that shined the most – why ? Because the most obstacles came during that time. Obstacles and challenges are opportunities for us to shine.
te mushkilaaN vay sajnaa bakhshishaaN ban jaangiyaaN
Every hurdle, every problem, every difficulty in life, carries with it equal blessings.
tera mukh lishkaungiyaaN, oh tera mukh lishkaungiyaaN
