2444 - Khajana Darshan June 27, 2022 – New York (English Translation)
ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
ਭਵਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸਭਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhavan suhavda dhart subhaagee raam
Beautiful is the mansion, so blessed is the place where the Guru has come and placed His blessed feet.
ਸਾ ਧਰਤੀ ਭਈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੈਠਾ ਆਇ ॥
sa dharatee bhayee har-yaa-valee jithay meraa satgur baithaa aaye
Where the True Guru comes, the earth, the building, the walls, and everybody in that becomes full of life. Everything in the universe that seems lifeless to us, like the walls, pillars, ceiling, bricks, God is in everything, and God is not silently present there, God is vibrating in everything. And Maharaj Ji says, when the True Guru, the embodiment of God, when his vibration arrives, His presence arrives, then everything around Him starts throbbing with life, vibrating with more vigorous force.
ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
dhan dhan hamaarey bhaag ghar aayaa pir meraa
So precious, so blessed is my fate, my destiny that my Beloved has arrived in my home.
sohey bank duaar saglaa ban haraa
Because of His presence within, the doors of the mansion are so inviting, so beautiful. Everybody in the mansion has become alive.
Let us please get out of this self-consciousness, and rise above it to where our true self is. The one who is aware of where I am sitting, how I am singing, lets rise above it and sing from our true self.
sohey bank duaar saglaa ban haraa
ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਸਗਲ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਰਾ ॥
meri sej sohee dekh mohee
My mind, my consciousness has been attracted by Him, and because they have been attracted by Him, they look so beautiful. Previously, when there was the world in my mind, it did not look good, but now it looks beautify because now in my mind, in my consciousness, His presence is being felt, it is being registered, and there is now world in it.
sagal sahsaa dukh haraa
Because my consciousness is now occupied with His thoughts, His presence; if not with His presence then at least the knowledge of His presence; all my worries and anxieties are gone because all those anxieties and worries were worldly.
Ji, there is a saying in Punjabi, “bade juddaN naal”, which means after fighting many wars. This building, the permits were obtained after 9 years. The building was purchased in 2013, 9 years ago, and it took a long time to get the zoning approved for a religious meditation center. After so many hearings, objections, conditions, after 9 long years, with His grace, we are blessed with such a beautiful space, where we are going to realize our true self, our soul, our Beloved, and finally melt into Him, and the game is over. The game is over, not by winning but by losing it. In the world, you are successful if you win. Here, you are successful if you lose. ਰੁੱਤਾਂ ਰਾਗ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਆ
ਅੱਜ ਕੁਲ ਕਾਇਆਨਾਤ ਨੇ ਗਾਇਆ
ruttaN raag milaap da gaayaa
aj kul kaayaanaat nay gaayaa
We are meeting after three years. Today, it seems everything, everybody, His creation is pleased; we are a part and parcel of His creation.
This morning, first it was sunny, then it became cloudy, and then it rained. So, just today, we saw so many seasons.
Singing is so important. First, we awaken our insides through singing, and then by becoming focused, we become capable of hearing, and once we become capable of hearing, that is the state when we are taken beyond the mind. When we are taken beyond the mind, then whatever the Guru says, we accept it without questioning, without having any doubts. If He says the whole creation is one, we would have a glimpse of oneness everywhere. This happens because the consciousness has become so pure now. If He says there is only One, we see its just Him, nothing else!
ਹਾਏ ਨੀ ਅੱਜ ਰਾਗ ਰੁੱਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਾਇਆ
haye nee aj raag ruttaN nay gaayaa
The seasons sang melodious songs today.
ਹਾਏ ਨੀ ਵਡਹੰਸ ਇਹ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ
haye nee vad-hans eh jo saarey
All these great swans who only eat the pearls of truth, who has made them come together and sit together.
ਹਾਏ ਨੀ ਕਿਸ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਾਇਆ
haye nee kis ehnaa mel karaayaa
Who motivated them to come and sit together, who ?
ਹਾਏ ਨੀ ਅੱਜ ਕਾਇਆਨਾਤ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ
haye nee aj kaayaanaat sharaabee
It seems everything is intoxicated. The drunk person sees everyone as drunk (laughter).
ਹਾਏ ਨੀ ਕਿਸ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰਸਾਇਆ
haye nee kis rehmat meeh varsaaya
Who has showered so merciful blessings upon us!
In Toronto we were trying to understand that our consciousness is affected by three things. First, spoken or written words. Beautiful and encouraging words, words emerging out of compassion, those words affect our consciousness positively and the reverse is true as well. Bad words, negative words, words that hurt others, brings our consciousness down. The pictures that remind us of the Divine; Guru Nanak Dev Ji uses so many beautiful scenes in the universe to show us God at work in the universe, in the nature; those pictures affect our consciousness positively. Third is music; the music for the mind awakens worldly desires; the music for the soul takes us beyond the mind, and that music has positive effect on our consciousness. There are words, pictures, and music which accelerates our transformation, accelerates our rebirth, and then there are words, pictures, and music that de-accelerates the process of rebirth. So, please we must remain very awake now.
The celestial music which we feel we are hearing through our ears, but in fact is being heard by our heart area. Celestial music is the only sound which is being produced as an unstruck sound in the universe. Every other sound is produced when two or more things collide. Celestial music is the sound arising from the heart of the Divine and it flows directly to our hearts. That is the only sound in the universe which gets heard by our heart area and not through the ears.
Because of COVID, for the last three years there has been no congregation. The words, pictures, and music that would take us out of the mind was absent, and we were stalled. Those of us who were even somewhat awake, if not fully awake, we saw the difference. None of us liked to fall down and remain in the blind well. We saw that life in the mind without Sangat is not a life. Worries, anxieties, there is no celebration of life. This is the celebration of life when we get together and walk towards our true self, our true home. In the worldly life, anything that you celebrate, that you enjoy, if you look closely, after that you would regret it.
ਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਲੱਗਿਆ
vay mainu tere baajh jyoonaa gunaah lagyaa
O’ my Beloved, without you, without the Holy congregation, I felt that to live that life was to sin. That life, living out of the mind, to me it was clearly a sinful life, where nothing beautiful would take birth and nothing valuable would arise from.
ਕਈ ਝੁੱਲੀਆਂ ਹਨੇਰੀਆਂ ਸੀ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਹੜੇ
ka-ee jhulliyaaN haneriyaaN see dukhaaN deeyaaN vehde
Many storms of pains and sufferings visited me.
ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਉੱਡ ਗਏ ਸੀ ਖ਼ਾਬ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਹੜੇ
hor sab ud gaye see khaab tere bina jehde
I used to have so many dreams that we are going to have this and that – all those dreams flew away during those painful days, except your dream.
ਤਰੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਹਿਲ ਨਾ ਜਰਾ ਵੀ ਹਿੱਲਿਆ
teri yaad vaala mehal naa jaraa vee hilyaa
The mansion of your memory did not shake at all, it remained still. That was the only thing that did not get affected by those unfortunate days. Only your memory, your remembrance remained. All other dreams took off.
ਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਲੱਗਿਆ
vay mainu tere baaj jyoonaa gunaah lagyaa
Please feel the vibrations within. That is nothing else but the presence of God. The beautiful vibrations in the street of the present. Please remain focused and while remaining focused, while feeling His presence, please hear.
Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਗੂੜ੍ਹ੍ ਬਿਮਲ
satgur mat goorh bimal
Maharaj Ji says that the understanding of the mind is not the true understanding of existence. Because it is not the true understanding, that is why the state of the mind keeps on changing. Today it thinks a person is good, tomorrow it says that person is not good. The mind’s understanding was false. The understanding which we receive from within is very profound and true; it never changes and is permanent. It does not happen through listening, but through hearing, through feeling the emotions in His words, through feeling the love in His words, the compassion in His words, the true understanding is received.
Maharaj Ji says in the holy congregation, through taking the rebirth, we come to realize our true self, our soul that is so beautifully imbued with her Beloved’s love. Because we were deprived of the holy congregation, so our speed was hampered.
We should remain in the vicinity of the celestial music (Anhad Shabad). To hear the celestial music which is being played in the universe, which initially sounds like saa, saa all around us, as long as we keep hearing that we remain in the womb of the Divine and from that womb rebirth happens. Now, let us stay in the world which is beyond the mind, and we are going to realize our true self, our soul, which remains permanently attached to her Beloved, God, and has the same love in her, the same virtues in her as God has.
ਤੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਜ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਵੇ
tay gallaaN nij dee-aaN aj challi-aaN vay
Today we started talking about our true self.
ਬੜਾ ਔਖਾ ਖਿਆਲਾਂ ਤੋ ਪਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਾ
barha aukhaa khi-aalaaN to paraaN jaanaa
It is impossible to go beyond the thoughts without the help of God. To go beyond the thoughts in the space where there is no traffic of thoughts, just pure loving consciousness.
ਜੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਉਹ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਵੰਨੀਆਂ ਵੇ
jo gaee-aaN oh hoee-aaN savanee-aaN vay
Those who went beyond their mind, they became so beautiful!
