Transliteration Key for Gurbani
Let us please become focused either in between the eyebrows or at the hirdaa (heart area). Fully focused, so that we feel the presence of the divine. Our consciousness should be filled with utter humility, love, and longing. Initially we will feel a slight presence of a power because we cannot tolerate the intensity yet.
Dhan uh pareet charan sang laagee.
Maharaj Ji says that the consciousness gets attached in the world - attachment to people, places, things. But there is preet with His Lotus Feet. Preet is a very exalted word - par + reet - to live according to someone else’s reet, someone else’s nature; to feel the divine by becoming like Him - His nature is infinite love, humility, and gratefulness.
He says that so truly rich is the love with the Lotus Feet of the Divine. To fall in love with God is to have an enormously rich true wealth.
Those of us who can, please bow the forehead of your consciousness at the point we are focusing, because that’s where He is going to appear, that’s where His Lotus Feet are going to reveal themselves.
Dhan uh pareet charan sang laagee.
kot jaap taap sukh paa-ay aa-ay milay pooran badbhaagee.
Let us please understand this. We keep asking Maharaj Ji that please let me recite Your name. Maharaj Ji says that feeling Him brings more peace than reciting His name millions of times without feeling Him. If we are not feeling Him and keep reciting Waheguru Waheguru, it will help to keep away any negative thoughts, but for God to reveal Himself and for our consciousness to see Him (feel Him), that is what brings true peace.
aa-ay milay pooran badbhaagee.
Maharaj Ji says that the Divine Himself comes to meet the one who is blessed to meet Him because of his previous lives meditation and deeds.
Maharaj Ji says that the ones whom God comes and meets Himself, are truly fortunate
aa-ay milay pooran badbhaagee.
Ji, for new sangat, please spend some time hearing first. This singing is different. First, reach a place where thoughts are absent and then start singing. Please stay there, firmly connected with the Lotus Feet of the Divine.
There is a letter from a son of mine:
Dear dad, I want to share an experience with you. Today I woke up late and then felt guilty. I sat by the table and started writing Japji Sahib on paper as I wanted to start memorizing it. At first I wanted to write one stanza a day and learn that but I kept writing as something in me kept going. Every time a pauri would finish, reading the first line of the next pauri would make me so hungry to continue. I kept going until the sixth pauri and then continued reading to the end. While reading, I realized that my bad feelings about waking up late were connected to my fear of losing God, which is a good thing. As I continued reading Japji Sahib, every time I lost track of a pauri, I would go back to the point where I was last focused. I started feeling centered at the heart very strongly. I kept feeling that and reading Japji Sahib. Continually reading, tears would well up from within but I could not make room for them to flow freely yet. Still my feeling of upliftment continued as I kept on reading. I lost the feeling of my body and my position of gravity. It felt like I was a presence in the room. It felt great and a little uncomfortable as well because I had no feeling of balance which usually accompanies the feeling of gravity. As I continued reading, I suddenly became aware of a sound in my ear surrounding me. I cannot describe it other than it was white noise.
White noise means the writer also felt the presence of the Divine light. Please focus at the ears and feel and hear the sound of saaN, saaN, or little bells, or a flute, or a drum. Keep doing Moolmantar from ikoNkaar up to nanak hosee bhee sach. If we recite the word Waheguru, the mind can wander but if we remain with the Moolmantar, the mind cannot go anywhere because it has to remember the lines.
Dhaarnaa:
uchee pahaarhee, ik anokhee, ajlee chamkaaN maaray vay maahee-aa
There is a high hill which is so strangely beautiful; it means our head. The hill is shining with the divine light.
The question is - is that the Anhad Shabad ? Yes, that is the Anhad Shabad.
os pahaarhee ko-ee goundaa suneedaa, bol nay ishq, shiNgaaray vay maahee-aa
On that hill somebody is singing and His utterances are adorned with ishq.
geet ohday saanoo jaapday nay jioN, soohay pi-aar fuhaaray vay maahee-aa
To me His singing seems like mesmerizing love fountains.
Somebody is singing there up on the hill, and the song seems so mysterious; the words of the songs seem adorned with ishq and the words of the song seem like fountains of pious love.
Please keep hearing the Anhad Shabad.
Then, the writer says:
…then a high pitched frequency started to appear in my right ear.
That sound feels like a train approaching from a distance. The sound keeps getting louder as if the train is coming close to you and then it becomes so loud that your inside starts trembling. It makes you stunned and appears when you are least expecting it. If you expect it or try to remember it, it won’t come. It makes you tremble and leaves you slowly and leaves you stunned. You are very fortunate my dear son. Please keep hearing the Celestial Music now and keep uttering the Moolmantar within.
After finishing Japji Sahib, I went to my bed to sit on it and continue to listen to that sound. I have heard that sound before but never so intense and continuous.
geet ohday saanoo, jaapday nay jioN, soohay pi-aar, fuhaaray vay maahee-aa
kaday kaday oh, goundaa goundaa, lamee-aaN seetee-aaN, maaray vay maahee-aa
Sometimes while singing He starts blowing long lingering whistles like a train coming towards you.
oh seetee ohday, dil choN niklay, hath jaan noo, paavay vay maahee-aa
We are seeing the Satguru’s merciful formless forms. One of his forms is ishq, then we saw that one of his forms is that he is the destroyer of illusion.
so satgur Dhan Dhan jin bharam garh torhi-aa.
so satgur vaahu vaahu jin har si-o jorhi-aa.
Another merciful formless form of the True Guru is that He makes us worthy of God’s touch; fills our consciousness with love, humility, and gratitude. Then He becomes the mediator and unites us with God. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful is the True Guru who unites us with the Divine by making us worthy of God’s touch.
Then He says:
jaisaa satgur suneedaa taiso hee mai deeth.
vichhurhi-aa maylay parabhoo har dargeh kaa baseeth.
If the Gurbani didn’t tell us how to be humble and everything else, could we ever meet God ? This miracle happens in the sangat. On our own, even if we stay in the Lotus Feet of Guru Granth Sahib at home, it won’t happen because He has drawn the line that if you don’t dwell in the holy congregation, I am not going to come to you. I have my divine laws.
So, He makes us worthy first and then unites us with God. Those who are becoming worthy, one of those sangat shared some lines that we have been reading.
kujh hor maNg naa rah ga-ee tooN daulat mayree
tainoo saambh saambh main rakhdee dunee-aa toN choree
ik vaar tooN kiDhray kaih dayvayN, eh kamlee mayree
I keep you hidden from the world and keep waiting that maybe once for all you say that this silly is mine!
kaday naal gal day laavay, rooh tarhapdee mayree
kee maNgdee dil dee peerh vay, aavay samajh naa mayree
A continuous pain remains in my heart; I don’t know what she is asking for; maybe you know.
Ji, life and time do not wait for anyone. Tomorrow there is Amrit Sanchar. Those who have not taken Amrit, should take it. If after getting a human body, we do not free ourselves from the cycle of birth and death then this life is futile. When the worldly consciousness leaves the body, while it is leaving, there are tears in those eyes; she cries when leaving the body and sees clearly that I am alone now, no one is going to go with me; even this body is not going to accompany me. At that moment everything becomes clear that all the things I worked for were futile; nothing is of use to me at all; I can’t take anything with me, nothing can help me now; I have wasted the life that was given to me. May we all be spared from that, and taking Amrit is important for that.
When we hear the Anhad Shabad, we are lodged in the womb of the Guru and the Guru sculpts our consciousness. That consciousness sees everything correctly, understands everything correctly. We are the light of ishq, a light that is filled with ishq.
tooN surgaaN daa surag honaa
Oh, my beloved friend, you are going to become the heaven of heavens.
aa babalay dee kukhay vasee-ay
kal aapaaN vee muhabat honaa
Come let us dwell in the womb of the Guru while hearing the Celestial Music, and we are going to become ishq tomorrow!
