ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥  ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਤਿ ਸਬਲ ਹੈ ਛਡੇ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ

Please focus your consciousness (dhi-aan). Everything is going to happen with dhi-aan.

We saw the other day that most of the youth asked the question, what should be done about stress. Please understand this very carefully. In order to hear what Maharaj Ji is saying, we have to really focus our consciousness otherwise if we listen to it in the car or while doing chores around the house, nothing is going to go within, there will be no understanding. If we understand the truth of life at a young age life can be a joy otherwise it remains burdened with fears and worries.

Maharaj Ji tells us in detail the reasons for our sufferings and then the solution. What is the reason that our lives are not as they should have been, why is there no joy, that carefree nature ? Especially the youth, please understand these things very clearly and then we must take the medicine for that.

Please know that dhi-aan (focusing your consciousness) is a must for transformation. Those of us who can, please focus at the back of the neck, at the root of the neck where the neck meets the body. There is a little raised bone there; please focus at that bone. Unbelievable treasures are buried there. If you wish you can feel that with the hand so you know where to focus.

Maharaj Ji says:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਖਰਚਿਉ ਖਾਉ

satgur mili-ai ultee bha-ee nav niDh kharchi-o khaa-o

Maharaji Ji says that the consciousness wanders outside all the time - looks outside, hears from the outside, smells from the outside, touches something outside with the hands. But when the consciousness meets the Guru, it changes its direction, it starts looking backward to its home, towards its country.

The other meaning of ultee bha-ee (changing direction) means that as long as the consciousness is outward facing, within us it keeps falling downwards towards the blind well. But when it meets the Guru, it starts rising upward.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਖਰਚਿਉ ਖਾਉ

Maharaj Ji says that when the consciousness starts returning towards its home, its country, it starts encountering the most precious treasures, the treasures of Love, the treasures of peacefulness, the treasures of contentment, the treasures of feeling deeply grounded.

Please understand this. The way God has designed this human body, with seven holy tanks, rivers, palaces; this is the land, the country, of our consciousness. When it is driven into exile by us and we keep the consciousness outside, it becomes irritated and distressed. And what does one do when they are distressed - they rebel!

Please understand this. This consciousness belonged to the inside, it was used to the inner environment, the temperature, the peace, contentment, grounding - that was her nature. We brought her outside and now we have to face the consequences. Outside is not her natural state - on the outside everything is either too cold or too hot, there is no Celestial Music, no Divine Light is felt, there is no peace. It is a world of fake lights, everything is fake! Because we have taken away her country, her own home, the consciousness rebels! Where it used to have love, now it has hatred. Where it used to have peacefulness, it has anger, where it used to have the nature to give to others, now it grabs. Earlier it was in ishq with the One, and now it rebels and develops attachment with a couple people. The consciousness rebels and we have to face the consequences. This is why there is stress! Because we are the consciousness, and we are living in an atmosphere which is totally unnatural to us, how can we be peaceful, how can we be loving, how can we be sharing ? And instead of sitting down and listening to Maharaj Ji and finding the reasons for this stress, and facing the stern reality of this, we say let us go somewhere and have a good time.

We don’t reflect on these things. Imagine if we used to live somewhere and were given exile and could never return. How would we feel? This is the state of our consciousness!

The way Maharaj Ji has designed the human body, it is for our consciousness to grow and blossom from within. It was going to grow and transform and dwell in the high palaces but that opportunity was taken away from her. Is there any chance for anybody to remain loving and content while the consciousness remains outside ? Especially my young daughters and sons, please understand this, and then do what Maharaji Ji says so that your lives can become the lives of beauty, the lives of peace.

Youth, please make notes of Khajana Darshan everyday. It will be very beneficial.

Dhaarnaa:

ਆ ਬੈਠ ਨੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਕੋਲ ਮੇਰੇ, ਗੱਲ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰੀਏ ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ

aa baith nee sakhee-ay kol mayray, gal dilaaN dee karee-ay do gharhee-aaN

ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਦਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਆ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰੀਏ ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ

murh kay aa-oun dee aadat nahee sami-aaN noo, aa ihnaa naal turee-ay do gharhee-aaN

As long as we remain outward, we remain in the land of death. Whichever moment is put before us, that never comes back, that never gets repeated. So, let us take the maximum advantage of each moment.

ਗ਼ਮ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਪਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਆ ਸਾਂਭੀਏ ਇਹ ਅਨਮੋਲ ਘੜੀਆਂ

gam zindagee day sabh paraaN karkay, aa saambhee-ay ih anmol gharhee-aaN

Let’s go beyond the worries of life, and take care of these precious moments.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਖਰਚਿਉ ਖਾਉ

Maharaj Ji says that the consciousness that has come within, then spends the treasures of love, the treasures of peacefulness, the treasures of contentment, the treasures of feeling deeply grounded. But it doesn’t matter how much these treasures are spent, they never exhaust.

ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਸਦ ਵਜਦੇ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ

anhad Dhunee sad vajday unman har liv laa-ay

Maharaj Ji says that when our consciousness returns back to its home, it finds the Celestial Music being played there all the time. “anhad Dhunee sad vajday - while listening to that Celestial Music and remaining with God it becomes deeply intoxicated (unman).

For new sangat, we have to bring our consciousness home and meet the Divine. This is the most important thing and should be prioritized. As soon as we prioritize this, Maharaj Ji is going to shower His blessings and we will start to feel His tender presence within us.

To begin with, stay focused at your ears and hear the sound of saaN, saaN. That is the beginning stage of hearing the Celestial Music. When you sing, feel your insides moving and vibrating.

ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਸਦ ਵਜਦੇ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ

anhad Dhunee sad vajday unman har liv laa-ay

Maharaj Ji says there are two types of intoxications. One is when the consciousness gets intoxicated when it reaches its home within. When it is outside, it rebels, and because it’s nature is to be intoxicated it finds the wrong type of intoxication. Maharaj Ji says:

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੋਇ

maa-i-aa mad maataa rahi-aa so-ay

What does the consciousness do when it rebels ? Where its nature was to share, now it starts collecting things, and it gets intoxicated looking at all the things it has collected. The consciousness is in foreign land, it rebels, and is drugged. One type of intoxication is wrong, it brings misery and death. The other intoxication is when it is in its home within. Maharaj Ji says that the consciousness needs intoxication; you can choose which type of intoxication you want to drink. What happens when one is angry - the consciousness gets so intoxicated that it loses all sense. Rebellion! maa-i-aa mad - mad means intoxication. One is the deep intoxication in its home within (unman) and the other is the intoxication from looking at the things one has collected in sleep  - money, position, and so forth.

ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਮੂਸੈ ਕੋਇ

jaagat rahai na moosai ko-ay

Maharaj Ji says, one gets robbed - robbed of the treasures of peace, contentment, grounding. Only the rare one who is awake does not get robbed, rest everyone gets robbed.

ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ

so jaagai jis satgur milai.

Maharaj Ji says only those who are destined to meet the True Guru, wake up.

ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਓਹੁ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕਰੈ

panch doot oh vasgat karai

When this consciousness comes outside, it is captured by the five robbers - anger, greed, lust, pride, attachment. In this foreign land, the consciousness is given a certificate that you are a resident of this city now, and are not allowed to leave. Maharaj Ji frees us from these bondages and brings our consciousness inside, back to its native country.

These are the two intoxicants - the negative intoxicants in the world, and positive intoxicants within, and both are nets as well. The one who drinks from the inside gets stuck in that net, and the one who drinks the negative intoxicants on the outside gets stuck in the outside net.

Dhaarnaa:

ਦੋ ਸ਼ਰਾਬਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਲ, ਨੀ ਦੱਸ ਮਾਏ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਪੀਣੀ

do sharaabaaN tay dovayN hee jaal, nee das maa-ay kihrhee peenee

Maharaj Ji says:

ਜੋਗੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ

jogee garihee pandit bhaykh-Dhaaree

ਸੂਤੇ ਅਪਣੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ

ay sootay apnai ahaNkaaree

Maharaj ji says that the jogi’s and the worldly people, and pandits, those who pretend that they are spiritual but in fact they are not. He says, “ay sootay apnai ahaNkaaree”, that they are in deep sleep and they are very egoistic. As we go within more and more, we won’t become great and special. Instead, we will start becoming more and more like a common man. The one who wants to be big and famous can never become peaceful. The outside intoxicants fill one with pride and ego, while the inner intoxicants bring humility.

ਇੱਕ ਹਲੇਮੀ ਤੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ, ਨੀ ਦੱਸ ਮਾਏ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਪੀਣੀ

ik halaymee tay doojee haNkaar, nee das maa-ay kihrhee peenee

Dhaarnaa (end)

Yesterday we witnessed that one face of the Guru is that of a brother; He addresses us as a brother. And then another face of His is such a profound, pure, loving face, as the face of a sister.

Maharaj Ji says:

ਆਵਹੁ ਭੈਣੇ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਆਹ

aavhu bhainay gal milah ank sahaylrhee-aah.

Oh, my sisters, come and let us embrace each other closely, let’s hug so tightly.

Ank means body part. My arms are your arms’ sister friend; my neck is your neck’s sister friend.

ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਹ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਕੰਤ ਕੀਆਹ ॥

mil kai karah kahaanee-aa samrath kant kee-aah.

Let us sit together and talk about the all-powerful beloved husband Lord of mine; His love stories with us. He dwells in the palace on the top of the head but he came down to the blind well to free me.

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤੁਸੀ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਕਿਨੀ ਗੁਣੀ

jaa-ay puchhahu sohaaganee tusee raavi-aa kinee gunee

ਸਹਜਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀਆ ਮਿਠਾ ਬੋਲਣੀ

sahj santokh seegaaree-aa mithaa bolnee

The Guru says that I went to the ones who are wedded by the Divine, and I asked them, what type of virtues do you have to be His soul bride ? They told me that they left their foreign land, came home, and started living within, and the Divine decorated them with peacefulness, with contentment, and sweet speech.

This is how our consciousness becomes when it stays in its home.

Dhaarnaa:

ਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਲੱਗਿਆ

vay mainoo tayray baajh jioona gunaah lagi-aa 

ਬੀਜ, ਇੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੋ ਸੀ ਤੂੰ, ਦਿਲ ਸਾਡੇ ਬੀਜੇ

beej itaraaN day jo see tooN dil saaday beejay

You had planted the seeds of Divinely fragrance in our hearts and then you irrigated them with love, with joy, and then you disappeared for some time. And those seeds, those newly germinated seeds dried up, and at that place the weeds sprung up.

ਚਾਵਾਂ, ਡਾਢਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਤੂੰ, ਫਿਰ ਓਹੋ ਸੀਝੇ

chaavaaN daadhi-aaN day naal see tooN fir oho seejhay

Then with love and joy you irrigated them.

Maharaj Ji says:

ਕਬੀਰ ਚੰਦਨ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਵਾ ਭਲਾ ਬੇੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਓ ਢਾਕ ਪਲਾਸ

kabeer chandan kaa birvaa bhalaa bayrheha-o dhaak palaas

ਓਇ ਭੀ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਬਸੇ ਜੁ ਚੰਦਨ ਪਾਸਿ

o-ay bhee chandan ho-ay rahay basay jo chandan paas.

Maharaj Ji says that the tree of sandalwood is surrounded by weeds but with its presence, with its fragrance, even the weeds become fragrant like the sandalwood. But if the sandalwood is removed, then they again become the same old weeds, useless weeds.

ਬਿਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਢਾਕ ਤੇ ਪਲਾਸ ਉੱਗਿਆ

bin tayray othay dhaak tay palaas ugi-aa

ਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਲੱਗਿਆ

vay mainoo tayray baajh jioona gunaah lagi-aa
