2502 - Khajana Darshan October 7, 2022 – Malaysia (English Translation)
Transliteration Key for Gurbani
ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
Let us please focus at the hirdaa, which is behind the heart.
We have seen how the Satguru has so many meticulous faces. Sometimes He talks to us as a brother, sometimes as a sister.
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
aavhu sant milhu mayray bhaa-ee mil har har kathaa karahu.
ਆਵਹੁ ਭੈਣੇ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਆਹ ॥
aavhu bhainay gal milah ank sahaylrhee-aah.
Sometimes He becomes the saakee (the one who pours the drink). Another face of the Guru is that He talks to us as a sister friend.
Why does the Guru take up so many faces to talk to us ? What is the reason ? The reason is that we are so awake to the outside world, all of our consciousness is used to understand and dwell in the outside world. We are totally asleep to the inner world.
The most difficult task in this universe is the task of the Guru. His task is to convince the people who are in deep sleep; deep sleep towards the inner world, and totally awake towards the outer world; they do not offer any part of their consciousness for the inner world. The Guru’s task is to awaken these people and to make them aware that there is another world within.
We can see why it is taking us so much time on this path. With His grace, a rare one is fortunate to feel bairaag (detachment from the world). Bairaag happens in sangat and it is only after bairaag that their inside agrees.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤੀ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥
jin kinai paa-i-aa saaDhsangtee poorai bhaag bairaag.
Until then, we do paath (ecite Gurbaanee), simran, sangat but a lot of our consciousness is focused outside because we have developed that nature over many lifetimes. People are living as robots. They are not present where they are. If they are walking, they are not there, they are thinking about the office, home, or children, or something else. They are eating, but they are not there. They are taking a shower, but they are not there. They are changing clothes, but they are not there. Robots, robots in such deep sleep! To awaken robots, we can imagine how difficult that is! To convince them that there is another world, and that world is much better than this. The mind would not question the Guru out of respect and fear but it is very difficult for the mind to accept that.
Another dearest merciful face of the Guru is that of a sakhee (sister friend). Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਖੀਹੋ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sakheeho sahaylrheeho mayraa pir vanjaaraa raam.
Please stay at the hirdaa, and when we say Waheguru, rotate counterclockwise around the heart area with your consciousness. Eventually we will feel Maharaj Ji’s power rotating there.
Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru
Please feel with humility in your consciousness; let the hands of the consciousness be folded and head bowed. In the beginning you will feel His presence very faintly, like a light breeze. Please remain there:
ਸਖੀਹੋ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sakheeho sahaylrheeho mayraa pir vanjaaraa raam.
Oh, my dear sister-friends, my Beloved is the merchant of truth.
When we feel the Divine, that means our consciousness is connected to Him at that time, which is why we feel Him.
har naamo vananjrhi-aa
This consciousness trades in the truth. As it remains connected with the Divine, He puts His virtues into that consciousness. The Divine is detached, He is ishq Himself, and does not need love from others; He is very peaceful, joyful. He keeps putting these virtues into the consciousness that is connected to Him.
ras mol apaaraa raam
He is transferring His virtues into me; beautiful, precious, intoxicating virtues that are priceless! Even in that state of intoxication I remain alert.
mol amolo sach ghar dholo
He has made her priceless and she stays with the Divine in His home within.
parabh bhaavai taa munDh bhalee
Whomsoever my Beloved becomes pleased with, He calls her in and makes her attached to Himself and transfers His virtues, qualities, and then she starts dwelling in the house of the Lord. We have become so accustomed to living in the worldly houses that we don’t even believe that there could be such a house.
With great fortune one starts hearing what the Guru is saying, and after hearing one cries, that all my life I kept coming to the Gurudwara and thought I was reaching somewhere, but alas!
Dhaarnaa:
ੳੱਠੋ ਵੇ ਮੇਰਿਓਂ, ਸੁੱਤਿਉਂ ਰੱਬੋਂ, ਕੀਤੀ ਜੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਕਿਉਂ
utho vay mayrioN, sutioN raboN, keetee jay dayree kioN
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਹੰਝੂ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਹੌਕੇ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਬਿਰਹਨ ਬਾਤਾਂ
kithay nay hanjhoo, kithay nay haukay, kithay nay birhan baataaN
Where are the tears of the pain of separation, where are the deep sighs, and where is the talk of painful separation.
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ ਦਿੱਲ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਵੇ ਅੜਿਆ, ਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਤਾਂਘ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤਾਂ
kithay hai dil dee peerh vay arhi-aa, tay kithay taangh mulaakaataaN
Where is the pain of the heart in His separation, and where is the deep longing to hold meetings with Him.
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ, ਆਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਿੱਖੀਆਂ, ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲ ਚੀਰਵੀਆਂ ਬਾਤਾਂ
kithay nay chithee-aaN, aapay noo likhee-aaN, vich dil cheeravee-aaN baataaN
Where are the letters which you wrote to your true self because you are separated from your own self ? Where are the letters which you wrote to her, and the talk of heart piercing pain ? Where are those ? How come it didn’t happen to you ?
ਘਰ ਦਾ ਚੇਤਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ, ਦੂਰ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਗਇਉਂ ਕਿਉਂ
ghar daa chaytaa kioN naa aa-i-aa, door hee door ga-ioN kioN
ਲਾਲ ਜੀ, ਦੂਰ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਗਇਉਂ ਕਿਉਂ
laal jee, door hee door ga-ioN kioN
How come you never remembered your true home and kept going far and far away from it.
Please stay at the heart.
Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
satgur mili-ai tarikutee chhootai cha-uthai pad mukat du-aar
During a 24 hour period, our consciousness goes through three stages. One is when we wake up in the morning, when everyone wants to go outside, work, and make money. Then in the evening, one thinks about what to eat, where to go, who to meet - this is the second state. The third is deep sleep at night.
Maharaj Ji says that these three states have been firmly established and perpetuated because we are so used to living in the outside world. If the consciousness is one, then how can it change; if it is true, pure consciousness how can it change ? It changes because our consciousness is impure.
The fourth state is when we dwell with the divine within - the state of peace, joy, bliss.
Maharaj Ji says:
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
satgur mili-ai tarikutee chhootai cha-uthai pad mukat du-aar
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
gur tay maarag paa-ee-ai chookai moh gubaar.
Maharaj Ji says that when we meet the Guru, He shows us the path. The attachments made us blind; all we saw was a house, a couple people who we were attached to, our work, and nothing beyond it. The Guru shows us the way of living human life. Then He takes us within, makes us meet with the Divine, and then our consciousness goes beyond the three states and reaches the fourth state which is our soul, which dwells within. This is what we came to do in this life.
Dhaarnaa:
ਜੱਦੀ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੇ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਰੀਂ ਵੇ ਉਦਮ ਪੂਰਾ
jadee hak hai tayraa vay kaamayaabee, tay ohnoo paun la-ee kareeN vay udam pooraa
It is your birthright to succeed in realizing the truth. In order to do that, let us do every effort possible.
ਬੇਇਨਸਾਫ਼ੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕੈਂ ਦਾ, ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਰੱਖੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ
bay-insaafee nukasaan naa hovay kaiN daa, es gal daa rakheeN tooN Dhi-aan goorhaa
But please be alert that we remain fair to everyone. And never ever any damage should occur to anyone from our hands.
There is a letter from a sangat:
Baba ji, when I meditate and focus on my heart, my feeling of Maharaj Ji always comes back at my forehead. Like Maharaj Ji keeps saying to focus there, and there only. I try so hard to focus at my heart, but I can’t. May I ask why?
It is easiest to focus on the forehead because the mind dwells there. So, the mind has no problem staying here. Most of the time our focus is up here because of the eyes, ears, tongue, but our consciousness is stuck at the bottom. Focusing at the bottom is very important. Until all the consciousness is freed from the blind well, we cannot go inside completely, and we won’t be freed completely. Another thing is that it is of utmost importance that we learn to focus downward too, at the heart, navel point, pubic bone, at the end of the spine, so that we remain connected to the world while living up in His palace. Then we would remain connected to the world, and we would be able to feel others’ pain. It is a very interesting phenomenon. If we become so used to living up, we would not feel anybody’s pain. Because feeling happens at the heart area, and if we remain above the neck all the time then our connection with the world’s feeling would be severed.
Our insides keep crying for the consciousness to come within and dwell there. Peace, bliss, happiness, and intoxication abounds there. Our consciousness keeps crying for its native land, its native atmosphere, which is within.
Dhaarnaa:
ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਿਆ ਰਾਹੀਆ, ਦੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾ ਜਾ ਯਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ
mayray aapnay days di-aa raahee-aa, do gallaN sunaa jaa yaar dee-aaN
Oh, you the one who dwells within, please tell me something about my Beloved.
ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਵੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਾਰਣ, ਤੇ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵੇ ਰਾਹਵਾਂ
kiho jihaa vay vaataavaran, tay kiho jihee-aaN vay raaHvaaN
How is the atmosphere there, and how is the inner path ?
ਸਾਹ ਵੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਗੁੱਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਕਿੰਝ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਕਰੇਂਦਾ ਛਾਵਾਂ
saah vee jithay gum ho jaaNday, kinjh ishq karayNdaa chhaavaaN
How is that path, where there is a sweet comforting shadow of the ishq on those inner paths, and the breath almost disappears.
When we become intensely attached with the Divine within, our breath becomes very shallow. And if we become totally absorbed in Him, our breath can stop; nothing will happen to us because neither our soul nor God needs the breath.
Maharaj Ji says that if we become established at the hirdaa and dwell with God, our consciousness becomes so joyful, and so alive, and it blossoms.
ਸਭ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
sabh dinas rain gun uchrai har har har ur liv laag.
ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹਰਿਆ ਬਾਗੁ ॥
sabh tan man hari-aa ho-i-aa man khirhi-aa hari-aa baag.

ਕਿੰਝ ਖਿੜਦੀ ਹੈ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਓਥੇ, ਜਿਉਂ ਬਾਲ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਵਾਂ
kinjh khirhadee hai surtee othay, jioN baal god vich maavaaN
And how does the consciousness blossom there, like a baby in his mother’s lap.
ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਵੇ ਫ਼ੁੱਲ ਆਪੇ ਦਾ, ਜਿਨੂੰ ਵਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰਦੀਆਂ
kiho jihaa vay ful aapay daa, jinoo vaavaaN vee pi-aardee-aaN
And how does the flower of my true self, my soul, look ?
ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਿਆ ਰਾਹੀਆ, ਦੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾ ਜਾ ਯਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ
