Let us please become focused either at the heart area or in between the eyebrows; become fully focused there to feel the Divine’s presence.
aavhu bhainay gal milah ank sahaylrhee-aah.
Oh my sister-friends, due to God’s design, due to His arrangement, we all are here tonight. Let us embrace each other with the most intimate hug. Let us meet as if you are part of me and I’m part of you; that without you I’m incomplete, and without me you’re incomplete. Everything in the universe is part of His creation. We are part of His creation. These are not just words; these are the utterances of God.
mil kai karah kahaanee-aa samrath kant kee-aah.
Let us sit together after hugging each other with utmost intimacy. Now let us sit together and talk about our Beloved Lord who is all powerful, who is all capable.
What’s the need to talk about our Beloved Lord? Why? With His grace, we are on a path of truth on which rare people in this world are brought to walk. It’s not for ordinary consciousness. It’s for evolved consciousness. We should be very awakened to understand what He is really saying behind these words. What is hidden in these words? What’s the need to talk about our Beloved Lord husband? What’s the need? Why?
Anybody? Why talk about Him? What’s the need? Why is it most important?
Sangat says: To bring him into our consciousness
Why? What is the need to bring Him into our consciousness?
Sangat says: To remember Him.
To bring Him into our consciousness means to unite with Him. Why to unite with Him? Because by separating from Him, we separate ourselves from the source, from our roots, and hence all the problems.
When we become separated from our source and we start living out of our minds, and mind is imprisonment of attachment, lust, anger, greed, ego. Then we start living in, in the prison of these cruel emotions. So, until and unless we reunite with our source, we cannot become peaceful, happy, content. If we are not peaceful, then that’s no life!
saachay saahib sabh gun a-ugan sabh asaah. ||1||
My true lord has all the virtues, and I have all the demerits. Where is the virtue in being egoistic, being angry, being lustful, being greedy, being jealous - all demerits. Because we became detached from our source and hence, He says, one becomes diseased.
Ji life rewards us with whatever we desire. If we desire money, then life rewards us with money. If we desire power, life rewards us with power. If we desire fame, life rewards us with fame. If we desire prestige, life gives us that. It’s simple!
But the highest reward of human life is to know who I am, to know the self, and the truth about the universe. What is this everything around me and to infinity? This is the highest reward. We can see that to be rewarded with the highest reward, you have to be one of the rare ones. That’s why He says:
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਪਾਈਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੇਹ ॥੨॥
virlay kay-ee paa-ee-aniH jinHaa pi-aaray nayh. ||2||
He says rare are the ones who happen to have ishq with the Creator because the reward is rare. It is the highest reward.
Our consciousness becomes diseased by becoming detached from Him. He says:
jo jo deesai so so rogee.
It’s a diseased consciousness’ properties to be greedy, to be egoistic, to be lustful, angry, jealous. He says everybody is diseased except the Guru, and He only calls the Divine as the Guru.
It is important that we ask ourselves, do I really want to change? Is this the most important task in front of me? How intensely does the desire to transform vibrate within me? Or is it there but very feeble, feels suffocated, and can only last for a short period of time. And then again, we go back into the same old misery, and fall back into our old habits. We should be very conscious, very awakened about our state of being. Is the number one priority for me, to receive the highest reward from life? Is the desire to be peaceful, to be loving, to be egoless, humble, compassionate, is that desire to realize the true self, the soul, so alive, throbbing, intensely vibrating within me or is it suffocating? We have to sit down and evaluate ourselves. Nobody else is going to do this for us. It’s up to us which reward we want to receive from life.
Dhaarnaa:
kitay a-ou-khay a-ou-khay laiNdee tay nahee saaH, nee bhainay ichhaa badlan dee
Oh my sister-friends, is the desire to transform, to realize our soul; is it vibrant within you, or is it feeling suffocated?
Dhaarnaa (end)
Ji, please remain focused in feeling the Divine. We have to become permanently united with Him, with our source.
Until we free ourselves from the mind, we are going to remain shackled in that prison. If we want the worldly desires, the worldly rewards, then we have to turn to the world and the world will teach us. There are many types of schools in the world: how to earn more money, how to be successful in politics, how to become famous. But, if we want to have the highest reward, then we must do what God or the Guru asks us to do. Unless we become humble, free, and pure; our body, our consciousness becomes free and pure of all types of intoxicants, there is no possibility of moving an inch towards our true self. It’s very perilous! Life is a very risky business. We can have the highest reward - God, or we can go back empty handed and we’ll be thrown back into the world that go back you have nothing in your hands. Maharaj Ji says that:
gur kee karnee kaahay Dhaavahu.
gur kahi-aa saa kaar kamaavahu.
In various hymns Maharaj Ji says to do what the Guru asks you to do. Your ego will not let you break your old habits. Then He says, make the Guru your best friend; make the Guru all your relations - parents, children, spouse, friends, everything. He says that by remaining in the holy congregation, we become humble. In the world there is a competition; only here in the holy congregation, there is no competition. In the world, we feel alien; that I don’t belong to this world; I do not, I must not be part of the insanity of the minds. But here, we feel this is my world, which is peaceful, there is no competition, it’s beyond the physical, it’s about something so high. Just talking about Him makes me peaceful, makes me grounded. This seems to be my world. The dust of the feet of the holy congregation is so precious. He says:
tayri-aa bhagtaa ka-o balihaaraa.
He says I’m a sacrifice to your devotees.
thaan suhaavaa sadaa parabh tayraa rang tayray aapaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He says, I’m forever a sacrifice to your loving devotees because you are dwelling in them.
sun meetaa Dhooree ka-o bal jaa-ee.
Oh, my Beloved, the dust of your devotees’ feet is the dust of your feet.
Until we gather the courage to go beyond the mind and become so egoless, it is difficult. But it’s not going to be difficult for us.
You are here from many countries around the world, and you must have experienced this. I experience it all the time that whenever we move, some other sangat is with us. So, the dust of the feet of the Divine accompanies us, stays with us, moves with us, wherever we go. How blessed, how beautiful, are these days which keep me drenched in the holy dust of the holy congregation’s feet.
Dhaarnaa:
Oh my mother, do you know which direction these days are coming from? They are so blessed.
Dhoorhee sach day paaNDhee-aaN dee nee, saNg rahay jioN saa-ay
As my shadow accompanies me all the time, so does the dust of the feet of His devotees.
We should remain awake and see what’s happening with us. Mostly we remain somewhere else, in the problems which we have created for ourselves.
jithay jaavaaN, jithay khalovaaN, milay hasdee maa-ay
Wherever I go, wherever I stand, that dust of the feet of His devotees meets me smilingly.
We meet each other so happily; actually that dust meets us so happily.
Once we become conscious, once we start waking up, we would be amazed at what’s happening with us and around us.
kih-rhay daysoN, kis bahaanay, kih-rhay raaheeN aa-ay
Oh my mother, do you know from which world, and through which paths these days have arrived? Also, what excuse are they making for being here? Maybe they are making an excuse that you do good deeds and that’s why we are here. I think these are all their excuses. Oh my mother, do you know from which country (obviously, this is not about the worldly countries) and through which route these days have descended upon me. And with what excuses?
Dhaarnaa (end)
I was saying that everything is in God’s hands. When this trip was being arranged, I said that there should be one week for France, one week for Germany, one week for Italy, one week for Bolivia, and 10 days in England. The tickets came and I just put them with my passport. I never realized but then Miguel called me and said: Baba Ji, I’m happy that sangat is going to be here for 10 days. I said no, no, it’s 7 days. He said no, 10 days. So this is God. It’s not that the travel agent made a mistake. No, God made him do this. I’m very pleased to be with all of you here. He has blessed us with a beautiful court of His. Let us please take maximum advantage of the next 9 days. We have to uproot our consciousness from the mind and firmly root it in the Divine. Each moment is so important.
aapan hathee aapnaa aapay hee kaaj savaaree-ai.
He says this is your affair to do, and only you have to, and you must do. So, please, we should not depend upon others that somebody else is going to do it for me. We should be very careful in walking the path of life. When we slip, we’ll find there is nobody to pick us up because everybody is so concerned about their own problems.
Dhaarnaa:
aas horaaN utay laa-eeN ko-ee naa
Oh my dear sister-friends, please do not have any hopes from others.
vay sambhal kay pair DhareeN, ithay digay noo uthaavay ko-ee naa
Please walk carefully because in this world, if you slip, you would find nobody to come and pick you up.
