ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਤੂ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaahu vaahu sachay paatisaah too sachee naa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Oh, the true king of the universe, You are saying that the word which is received from Guru, the sacred word, unites you with me.
What an arrangement you have made! You made this whole creation and put ego in the humans due to which they see themselves separate from your creation. But with the sacred word blessed by the Guru, one realizes the truth. The sacred word unites us with the Divine.
He says that through remaining with the Divine, and remaining united with the Divine, He would become merciful, and make you realize one day that there is no trace of you here, it is Him. You may not know it is Him, but you would recognize that it is. Some being looks out of these eyes, some being hears through these ears, someone walks with these legs, that I have been calling my legs. Somebody moves the arms back and forth when it walks; you may not know who but you would clearly see that it's not someone called I. Walking happens, even the talking happens, hearing clearly happens.
We have no idea how many times the tongue has to twist to make a sound, where the sound originates, how it changes to notes, and how those notes come together to sing. We don’t know. One day you would realize that you are the life yourself, and the life is nothing but a celebration.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
aapay vaykhai sunay aap gur sabad Dhi-aa-ee.
Let’s please become focused at the hirdaa or forehead and feel the presence of the Creator.
Dhi-aa-ee means remain in meditation. Remain in meditation - that is the way of living human life. Our true self remains in a meditative state. Meditation means where our consciousness does not wander around. The state of meditation is where the consciousness plays with itself like the ocean plays with itself. That is the meditative state. Our consciousness within, plays with itself by oscillating left and right, by rising up, or moving in circular direction.
Maharaj Ji says, remain in a meditative state and learn to live life in that state. When our true self walks, it just walks, it does not think like the mind does. When it talks, it just speaks what is coming naturally, does not think like the mind does. When it eats, it just eats, does not think like the mind does.
Dhi-aa-ee………Dhi-aa-ee……..Dhi-aa-ee Meditation at 14:12
Please feel the Divine’s power playing in the hirdaa. Push the hirdaa backward while saying Dhi-aa-ee. The word Dhi-aa-ee means meditative. Strike this word, strike the hirdaa, and then wait for a second and some power from there will raise the hirdaa frontwards.
Stay there.
ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਸਰਾਈ ॥
aapay kudrat saajee-an kar mahal saraa-ee.
ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਚਾਨਣੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
chand sooraj du-ay chaannay pooree banat banaa-ee.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਤੂ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
vaahu vaahu sachay paatisaah too sachee naa-ee.
As we start waking up, we would clearly see that everything outside looks fresh, new, and everything feels like it’s blessing me. The trees standing on the wayside give me shade, they bless me that may you remain alive like I am; alive, while feeling life. We see running water and feel that it’s blessing me to be cooperative, be humble, move towards the low grading, remain humble, keep moving. Keep moving! We look at the mountain and feel that the mountain is blessing us that may you evolve, rise upward within, and become still like me. You would recognize clearly that everything is a blessing because it’s Him, and He is ishq, and ishq is ishq.
Dhaarnaa:
ਨੀ ਬਾਗ ਮਾਏ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਦਾ….. ਜੀਹਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਣੀ, ਮੈਂ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ
nee baag maa-ay sajanaa daa….. jeeHday vich dunee, maiN, tay oh aap
This garden of my Beloved.
ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਜਿਉਂ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਪ……ਨੀ ਬਾਗ ਮਾਏ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਦਾ
aseesaaN dayNdaa jioN Dhee noo baap……nee baag maa-ay sajanaa daa
I feel that the entire garden is blessing me as a father blesses his daughter; as a father blesses his daughter, I feel the whole creation is blessing me like that.
We are looking at the way of life Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught to humanity during His third appearance; not just during His third appearance but now He is creating it like a constitution.
- He said that everyday we should ponder over the utterances of the Guru and meditate.
- Do good selfless deeds everyday without hoping for anything in return.
- The whole family and the things which Maharaj Ji has blessed us to use, we should have deep knowledge that they all are His blessings.
- Accept God’s will willfully.
- Serve the holy congregation and do the holy congregation everyday.
- Renounce the company of the people who are living life out of their minds and do not want to change.
- Remember that your soul and God are one and the same, and to realize that is the purpose of life.
- He says, there are four types of selfless deeds:
- He says, if you feel some family man’s work is stuck, and he is poor, then help him with money.
- If you are not in a position to help that person monetarily then ask the holy congregation to do that. This too is a selfless act.
- Give clothes to the one who doesn’t have enough clothes. Feed those who need to be fed.
- Leave your task and help the poor first.
- Remain humble.
- He says, like a seashell takes in a drop of water, and goes down and sits at the floor of the ocean, and transforms that water into a pearl. Just like that, keep the sacred word in your consciousness, and go down to the floor of the ocean, remain there, keeping the word in your consciousness, and you would be transformed into the true self.
- Never use any intoxicants.
- Life should be peaceful, still, and compassionate.
- For starting every deed, pray to God for its completion.
Yesterday, we saw that Saint Kabeer Sahib complained to the Divine, that oh the lord of the universe, I ground myself into henna paste and you never cared about that; you never applied that to your feet. Maharaj Ji Guru Nanak Dev Ji in his third appearance replies to Bhagat Kabeer Ji’s complaint.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਹਿਦੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
naanak mahidee kar kai rakhi-aa so saho nadar karay-i.
He says, oh my dear Saint Kabeer, how can one grind oneself, how can the mind grind itself. Mind’s desire is not to die, it’s desire is to become stronger, so no one can become egoless on his or her own self. Somebody else has to come and grind the henna and turn it into a paste. Someone from the outside has to come. The same way, someone from the outside has to come and kill our ego, and that is God.
So please very carefully listen to Maharaj’s answer to Bhagat Kabeer Ji.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਹਿਦੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
naanak mahidee kar kai rakhi-aa so saho nadar karay-i.
When He becomes merciful to you, He unites you with Himself.
ਆਪੇ ਪੀਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਘਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਲਾਇ ਲਏਇ ॥
aapay peesai aapay ghasai aapay hee laa-ay la-ay-ay.
Maharaj Ji says the Divine unites us with Himself, and while dwelling with Him, we start losing the ego, we start becoming humble. We can feel the state of our consciousness becoming humble. We are not doing it, otherwise everybody would do it. He says it’s His mercy; when He becomes merciful to you, He grinds you, turns you into a henna paste, and you become egoless.
And then don’t think that you were going to decorate His feet by being applied to His feet. It’s hidden in that; Maharaj Ji says: Kabir Sahib, don’t think your henna is going to decorate the lord of the universe. When He becomes merciful to someone, He grinds that consciousness into a paste, very humble. And then He applies that to His feet, not to decorate His feet, but out of mercy to give you such a great honor that He applied you to His feet.
See the truth; the real truth and that which is becoming the truth.
It’s all His job, it’s His job to grind us, it’s His job to apply us to His feet out of mercy. It’s not up to us to become henna paste, decorate Him, and do him a favor and beautify Him.
ਇਹੁ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥
ih piram pi-aalaa khasam kaa jai bhaavai tai day-ay.
Maharaj Ji says this miracle happens to whosoever does ishq with Him. He catches hold of that person and kills them, to make them pure ishq; not to destroy them but to make them pure ishq. He says that the cup of ishq is in His hands, it’s up to Him whoever He gives it to. Nobody on their own self can realize the true self or God. Right? He says it’s up to Him. If you are lucky enough to earn His mercy, He’s going to give you the cup of ishq, and that cup of ishq will keep you united with Him, and hence all the miracles.
All those saints who had become ishq, who were close to becoming ishq, Guru Nanak Dev Ji in His fifth appearance included all those saints utterances in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and wherever needed, corrected their utterances. He did so to many saints because Guru Granth Sahib Ji was supposed to be the Guru of the whole humanity, so it had to be perfect.
We must become unhappy with this egoistic I.

ਐਸ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ…. .ਲਗਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਲ ਹੁਣ…..ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਾਨੂੰ….. ਕਾਹਲੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਪਵੇ
ais maiN naal saadaa…..lagdaa nahee dil hun……nee maa-ay sanoo……kaaHlee jihee pavay
ਸੁਹਾਗਣ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ …..ਜਾਣਦੀ ਕੀ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ…….ਤੇ ਨਾ…..ਤਲਾਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੀ ਚੁੱਭੇ
suhaagan pareetaaN nahee jaan-dee kee hundee-aaN nay….tay naa….talaak pareet hee chubhay
This egoistic I, me, does not know what is ishq, does not know the ishq which makes you the bride of the Divine - suhaagan preet. “This I” has no idea what ishq is; that Divinely ishq which enables one to be the bride of the Divine. Neither does it know that nor does it feel any pain if God turns away. She is totally blind, unaware of the ishq and its glory, its power, its potential, nor does it feel the sting of the separation.
ਮੇਜਬਾਨ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ….ਨਿੱਤ ਹੀ ਏ ਵੇਦਨਾਂ ਦੀ……ਭੈੜੀ…..ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਵੈਦ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭੇ
mayjbaan banee ho-ee……nit hee ay vaydnaaN dee…..bhairhee….fir vee naa vaid noo labhay
Everyday the suffering the pains come to this I; it remains a host to the pain and sufferings caused by the ego. Everyday! And she never stops to ask: is there any other way of living? Is there any physician who can make me free of these pains?
naanak ha-umai rog buray.
Maharaj Ji says the disease of ego is the most painful disease.
mayraa baid guroo govindaa.
The True Guru is the physician who makes us free of that disease; disease of the ego.

It’s suffering everyday, but strangely it never looks for a physician who can cure it. I don’t want to live with this I.

We remain so intensely rooted in our own lives that we never really look around to learn. We see the news not to learn anything but just to give that toy of TV to our tired and unhappy insides. Young parents, please, you have a great responsibility on your hands to bring up the children, to help them become gifts for the world. I want to tell you a little story. There was a person named Joseph Kennedy and his wife Rose Kennedy. They were living in Boston, Massachusetts. They had four sons and four daughters. Joseph Kennedy was a politician and a diplomat and Rose Kennedy raised the children. I just want to read a few lines about how Rose Kennedy raised her children. One of her sons, John Kennedy, became President of America, the other son Robert Kennedy was almost a sure shot to become President but he was assassinated just before the election. The former governor of California, Arnold Scwartznager, is also the husband of Rose Kennedy’s granddaughter. Another grandson of hers, Robert Kennedy Jr., is running for the presidency of America now. Rose Kennedy once said: Whenever I held my newborn baby in my arms, I used to think that what I said and did to him would have an influence not only on him, but all whom he meets; not only for a day or a month or a year, but for all eternity - a very very challenging and exciting thought by a mother feeling the duty. Rose became such a natural and determined teacher of her children, leading them by discovery, stories, examples, and inspiration to fulfill their own destinies. Rest we will read tomorrow.

Maharaj Ji says, oh Nanak, the disease of ego is so painful; it is really bad.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾਂ ਤਹ ਏਕਾ ਬੇਦਨ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧੁਰੇ ॥
jah daykhaaN tah aykaa baydan aapay bakhsai sabad Dhuray.
Wherever I look, everybody is suffering from this disease.
Upon whom He becomes merciful, He blesses that being with the Divine nectar, Amrit, then unites that person with Himself, makes that person pure, egoless, and makes that being merge with Him.
Tomorrow that Divinely blessing, Amrit, is going to be blessed by the Divine working through the Five Loved Ones (Panj Pi-aa-ray). Amrit Sanchar; sanchar means irrigation. Those blessed souls’ insides are going to be irrigated with Amrit tomorrow.
Dhaarnaa:
How beautiful are the songs of love, His utterances! How beautiful! We should appreciate His mercy, which He is showering upon us in the form of love songs. Not everybody can hear them. It requires a certain amount of ishq in us. When someday, we really hear Him; we really hear what He’s saying:
ਰੂਪ ਵਟਾ… ਸੀ ਆਇਆ….ਅਸਾਂ ਢੋਲਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ
roop vataa…. see aa-i-aa……asaaN dholaa pachhaan li-aa
ਗੀਤ ਮਾਹੀਏ ਦਾ ਅੱਜ ਸੁਣਿਆ…….
geet maahee-ay daa aj suni-aa….
Today, I really heard His song, and it just shook my whole being!
ਨੀ ਮਾਏ ਉਹ…… ਇੰਝ ਲਗਦਾ…..ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਬਣਿਆ…..
Today, I heard a song of my Beloved, and it felt like He’s made of songs. He’s not made of flesh and bone like me; it feels He’s made of songs.
