ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

॥ ਜਪੁ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥  ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥

There is a letter from Surrey, Canada. The writer says:

With the grace of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the holy congregation, I feel so light like air; that lightness is beyond description. All my life, I remained scared of darkness and sufferings, and I kept running towards the worldly pleasures, worldly comforts, worldly lights. Now I feel that it is the sufferings which usually bring us to the Divine and the worldly pleasures, worldly comforts, only give birth to falsehood. It’s true that the sun rises out of the darkness of the night but after giving that worldly light for twelve hours, the sun leaves us in the care of darkness. But when the Divine knocks at our door, He brings with Himself the Divine light where darkness or night cannot fall. Life becomes so beautifully silent, intense peace filled with Celestial Music, filled with contentment. How beautiful is His coming!  

Betay, thank you so much.

We should feel and evaluate the state of our consciousness regularly.

Now to the story:

ਆਤਮ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਮ ਮਹਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਸਿ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ

aatam meh raam raam meh aatam cheenas gur beechaaraa.

Maharaj Ji says whatever is seen are only the clothes that the souls are wearing; clothes could be human body, animal body, bird body, insect body, water body, tree’s body, any body. He says, what is seen is not the truth, it is transitory. It’s like a movie and a movie moves towards the end.

Maharaj Ji says what you are witnessing is a movie. A movie starts, and anything that starts is bound to end. Whatever you are seeing is a movie that is bound to end. What actually is, cannot be seen with these eyes.

Who am I? Maharaj Ji says it’s all God. The answer to your question is not that you are God, but that it’s all God.

 

ਸਭੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ

sabh gobind hai sabh gobind hai gobind bin nahee ko-ee.

Maharaj Ji says, it’s all God, it’s all God.

He says:

ਅਸਮਾਨ ਮੵਿਾਨੇ ਲਹੰਗ ਦਰੀਆ ਗੁਸਲ ਕਰਦਨ ਬੂਦ ॥

asmaan mi-yaanay lahang daree-aa gusal kardan bood.

He says, up in the skies a river is flowing. Its origin is from the blind well and it flows in the skies, starting from the lowest point in our body to the top of our head, in the present.

Let’s please feel this river. Mahara Ji calls this street of lovers or river of lovers.

ਅਸਮਾਨ ਮੵਿਾਨੇ ਲਹੰਗ ਦਰੀਆ ਗੁਸਲ ਕਰਦਨ ਬੂਦ ॥

asmaan mi-yaanay lahang daree-aa gusal kardan bood.

He says I have created that river so you can take a bath in it. So, when we rise upwards along that river of love, we take a bath in it.

ਕਰਿ ਫਕਰੁ ਦਾਇਮ ਲਾਇ ਚਸਮੇ ਜਹ ਤਹਾ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ

kar fakar daa-im laa-ay chasmay jah tahaa ma-ujood.

He says make yourself a very powerful fakeer, one who is just ishq and nothing else.

He says that those fakeers (ishkers) have different eyes; they don’t have worldly eyes. God gives them eyeglasses and through those glasses wherever they look, they recognize God.

See how He says these things!

He gives eyeglasses; it covers both eyes, not just one side.

Meditation at 26:22

With closed eyes, please feel one eye, either left or right. Eyes are closed; the eyelid is resting on the eyeballs. Now please feel both eyes resting in their sockets and their shutters are closed. Become totally focused on both of the closed eyes. Now just move outwards and feel the outer edges of the eyes; not the eyes but outside the eyes, just near the eyes on both sides of the eyes. Please come to the points outside the eyes, near the outer edge of the eyes, on both sides, and if we are doing it right then we should feel pressure on both sides of the forehead or head.

ਕਰਿ ਫਕਰੁ ਦਾਇਮ ਲਾਇ ਚਸਮੇ ਜਹ ਤਹਾ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ

kar fakar daa-im laa-ay chasmay jah tahaa ma-ujood.

Become more focused please, Just come there and Maharaj Ji would make you feel the pressure.

When all of our consciousness becomes focused at these points and we open our eyes, then you won’t be able to focus at anything. If you are focused on anything, those glasses are not being worn.

Right now we are feeling those points from a distance. Gradually, the consciousness is going to sit on these points; it will see from those points like it sees from within the eye. We need glasses because there is “I” in our eyes. That “I” looks out - who is mine, who is my friend, and so on. When there is no “I”, we won’t need any glasses. Then these eyes, wherever they look, would see God. These eyes, not my eyes!

Dhaarnaa:

ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਤ ਪਾਵਾਂ…..ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਵੇ…..ਤੇ ਤੂੰ…..ਰੱਖੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਅ

aakhayN taaN maiN baat paavaaN …..aj ik sajanaa vay……tay tooN…..rakheeN us baat daa naa

ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਸਭ ਕੁੱਝ…. ਸਾਫ ਨਹੀਓਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਵੇ….ਅੰਦਰ…. ਭਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ

jinaa chir sabh kujh….saaf nahee-o disdaa vay….andar…..bhardaa huNgaaraa ko-ee naa

Until we start recognizing it’s all Him, we are going to remain entangled in our own little worlds. He is saying, I am not just saying something; whatever I am saying you can have direct experience of that.

ਆ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ…..ਨਜ਼ਰ ਬਣਾਈਏ ਆਪਾਂ……ਉੱਥੇ……ਐਨਕਾਂ ਲਾਊਂਦੇ ਆ

aa aashikaaN dee nadee jaa kay….nazar banaa-ee-ay aapaaN…othay…ainakaaN laa-ouNday aa 

Let us go to the river of lovers. Our Beloved is telling us that he has this river flowing upward. He says, there you are fitted with those eyeglasses - the glasses of aashiks (lovers).

In Punjabi it is said that I have had my vision corrected. So, let’s go to that river of lovers and have our eyes corrected.

Let us please check, and we must check all day, that we are wearing divinely glasses all the time, and we can do it all the time - while walking, driving, eating, all the time. Please practice and gradually this thing is going to come inside the eyes and we won’t need glasses anymore.

Everything is changing so fast. Our mind is always looking for the next thing, the newest gadget, and so on. But new gadgets won’t bring us true happiness. New cars can take us from one point to another but the real house of peace is here in the holy congregation. The one who is going to take us to the house of real peace, happiness, contentment is sitting on the throne - Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Young parents have big responsibilities on their shoulders. They are to lay the foundations of the lives of their children, and the mother has maximum influence on the children. So, please let us remain very alert to this fact. Perhaps there are some very big souls in those little bodies. Parents have a very important role in shaping the children’s lives. It shocks me and also makes me sad but I don;t say much. Sometimes I hear some people saying that they come to Darbar Sahib on Sundays and even that is missed sometimes. How can anything happen this way? The foundation of these children’s lives are in your hands. Please make sure they are built on the truth.

The nature of truth is very simple; it doesn’t have to wear masks. Yesterday, on the way back from Indiana, we started talking about Jimmy Carter who was the President of America after Nixon. Jimmy Carter was a very humble and simple man, a peanut farmer from the state of Georgia. He also wrote in his book that I never felt I have become someone, I felt I was still a farmer. His wife, Roselynn Carter used to cook every day for her family even though they lived in the White House. They had learned something from their parents and wanted to give those values to the next generation. We can only give to others what we have. If we don’t have something, how can we give it to others.

I was telling what I myself experienced. My mother, God bless her wherever she is; she would wake up very early in the morning, take a shower, and churn yogurt. It used to take time because it was a big pot. While doing that she would sing Japji Sahib and other bani’s that she has memorized; she would sing so lovingly and so presently that everybody in the house, every child in the house, the first voice that child would hear would be of Japji Sahib. With her own hands, she would grind the grains to make flour just for the day. Vegetables were brought home from the fields just for the day. There is nothing better we can teach our children than laying the foundations of their life with truth. If the foundations are that solid, everlasting, the building on that foundation cannot be shaky. You are wise but I wanted to share what I was feeling.  

Now, to Siddh Gosht.

Siddhas are asking Guru Nanak Dev Ji:

ਆਦਿ ਕਉ ਕਵਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਕਥੀਅਲੇ ਸੁੰਨ ਕਹਾ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੋ

aad ka-o kavan beechaar kathee-alay sunn kahaa ghar vaaso.

We have been told by Him that God Himself expanded and created this space; the space is nothing but God Himself. He expanded Himself into the form of unlimited space and created His creation within it. You are saying that He is dwelling in each and everyone, in all His creation. But where was He dwelling before He started this play? Even when there were no skies, no space?  

Maharaj Ji answers:

ਆਦਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਕਥੀਅਲੇ ਸੁੰਨ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਲੀਆ

aad ka-o bismaad beechaar kathee-alay sunn nirantar vaas lee-aa.

He remains deep within Himself and He does not need any space.

What we feel within, does it need any space? It is not crystal clear to us yet. Space is needed if that thing has to move around. If it is going to remain in one place then it does not need space. We cannot understand this yet.

Maharaj Ji says that God was deeply centered within Himself. Please understand this. This question has never been answered and Guru Nanak Dev Ji answers it. What does this show? Guru Nanak Dev Ji is known as the Divine Himself. But let’s see one thing here - how does He know where God was dwelling at that time? How does He know? Can anybody else know other than God? No!

Dhaarnaa:

ਮਾਏ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ….. ਨੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ…. ਛੁਹਾਇਆ

maa-ay nee maa-ay…. nee saanoo ishq nay hath…. chhuhaa-i-aa

Oh, my mother, ishq has touched me.

ਸਹਿਜ ਪਾਕੀਜ਼ਗੀ….. ਸੁਭਾਵ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਦਾ….ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਰੂਪ…..ਸੁਹਾਇਆ

sahij paakeezagee…..subhaav ishq daa….tay mukh sharDhaa roop……suhaa-i-aa

The nature of ishq is to remain utterly still, peaceful, holy, and His face is faith.
