2599 - Khajana Darshan July 4, 2023 – Michigan

ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

॥ ਜਪੁ॥

ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥  ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥

During the third appearance of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the king of India was Akbar. Brahmins went to him in Agra; Agra used to be the capital of India at the time. They complained to Akbar that Guru Amar Das Ji was forcefully occupying their lands. Akbar got the information from the Governor of Lahore who conducted an inquiry and found out that the allegations were baseless. So, nobody listened to the Brahmins. Hindu religion was greatly threatened by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They became nervous and were making all kinds of allegations on him. They prepared a plea and in those days Akbar was in Lahore, the capital of Punjab at the time. The Brahmins went to Akbar with the plea that Guru Amar Das Ji is totally wiping out the Hindu religion, and you being the king are the protector of all faiths so please protect our religion. The Kind sent his messenger to Goindwal Sahib to Maharaj Ji with a respectful invitation that Brahmins have various types of allegations against you. If you feel like answering those, please do that, and if you can’t come or don’t want to come here, then send somebody to Lahore to see mee. Guru Amar Das Ji called Bhai Jetha Ji (who later became Guru Ram Das Ji) and asked him to go to Lahore and instructed him to not be afraid of anyone be it a king or anyone else. Whatever they ask, give them a complete answer and satisfy them. Bhai Jetha Ji said I know your hand is on my head and nobody can harm me. In Lahore, Bhai Jetha Ji first went to Chunamandi, his birthplace, and sent a message to the court of King Akbar that Guru Amar Das Ji has sent me to answer the questions. Akbar sent his messenger to Bhai Jetha Ji and advised him to talk very respectfully and invite Bhai Jetha Ji to the court. The Brahmins had also gathered there and Bhai Jetha Ji came to King Akbar’s court. Tomorrow we will see what happens there.    

ਕਰਿ ਫਕਰੁ ਦਾਇਮ ਲਾਇ ਚਸਮੇ ਜਹ ਤਹਾ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ

kar fakar daa-im laa-ay chasmay jah tahaa ma-ujood.

Let us wear the glasses of the aashik’s (lovers) of God. Please become still at the outside of both eyes; we should feel pressure there.

ਕਬੀਰ ਕਸਉਟੀ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਝੂਠਾ ਟਿਕੈ ਕੋਇ

kabeer kasa-utee raam kee jhoothaa tikai na ko-ay.

The touchstone of the Lord is so pure that no false person can pass the test. Touchstone of God is such that no false person can stay there. What does this mean? Maharaj Ji says if your heart's not in it, if your heart is not here, if you do not have the intense longing, then you will not pass my test. My test is that if your heart is into it then and only then you would stay with Me, and if you are false and your heart is not into it then you won’t stay with Me for long because you are not true.

He says only those who truly want to know the mystery, the story of who I am and what is all this creation, will stay with Me.

If we are staying at both sides of the eyes, and following where Maharaj Ji is taking us - upward, backward, or any other direction, then we would feel in which direction He is pulling us and follow that. If we look closely, Maharaj Ji will pull us from both sides of the forehead and connect those two points to one point. Can you feel that? Then, whatever direction He is pulling us, we must follow that.

ਕਬੀਰ ਕਸਉਟੀ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਝੂਠਾ ਟਿਕੈ ਕੋਇ

kabeer kasa-utee raam kee jhoothaa tikai na ko-ay.

ਰਾਮ ਕਸਉਟੀ ਸੋ ਸਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਰਜੀਵਾ ਹੋਇ

raam kasa-utee so sahai jo marjeevaa ho-ay.

If we uproot ourselves totally from our own worlds, and come within to feel Him and stay with Him, then we are not alive towards the outer world or our world - He says that person passes the test.

marjeevaa - one who is totally dead as far as the outer world is concerned, and totally alive as far as the inner world is concerned. When we are in that state of consciousness, Maharaj Ji puts us into His pious womb because we are willing to stay there. He does not forcefully put anybody into His womb; only the ones who are totally willing, are made to lodge into His womb.  

There is a letter from a daughter of mine in Toronto. She says I come running to Darbar Sahib. I get out of the car and run to the court of Maharaj Ji and as soon as I enter, a deep realization grips me that I am here with my own; I am here with the ones who have been forgiven and blessed. How fortunate I am!

Another daughter of mine from Washington writes to me. She says that when I talked to you for the first time on the phone, I said that I just want the lap of the Divine and you said that the Divine is very merciful. I did not know what mercy really means. Now, when He has lodged me into His holy womb, He put this thought in me that look you only asked for my lap, and I have put you in my womb. How really merciful He is! How can anyone talk about His grace.

We must understand this story very well. We came into this world from our mother’s womb. Who was that? Then, what happens after we are lodged into the Satguru’s womb? Here, we are only going to get some pointers but in order to truly understand this, we have to sit alone and hear the Khajana Darshan again and again.

Dhaarnaa:

ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਤ ਪਾਵਾਂ…..ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਸੱਜਣਾ ਵੇ…..ਤੇ ਤੂੰ…..ਰੱਖੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਅ

aakhayN taaN maiN baat paavaaN …..aj ik sajanaa vay……tay tooN…..rakheeN us baat daa naa

In Japji Sahib, Maharaj Ji says:

ਕਰਮੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ

karmee aavai kaprhaa nadree mokh du-aar.

When He becomes compassionate to us, He blesses us with a human body’s cover. He says the human body is the robe of your soul. When He becomes compassionate to a soul, He blesses that soul with a human body, and when He becomes merciful, then giving rebirth He merges that soul into Him.    

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ

naanak ayvai jaanee-ai sabh aapay sachiaar.

He says the period of human life is the only window in His creation when you can recognize that it’s all Him and become dissolved in Him. We are passing through that window and we must recognize the urgency, the importance, the only chance to get out of the cycle of birth and death; it’s the only chance, only window.

Dhaarnaa:

ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ…..ਵੱਖਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਂਦ ਮੇਰੀ….ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਂ ਦੀ……ਕੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂ

janam toN pahilaaN nahee see….vakhree ko-ee hoNd mayree…jadoN maaN dee… kukh vich saaN

Before we are born, we are not individuals. Please understand this very well.

ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਂ….ਸੋਜਣੀ ਉਹਦੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ…..ਇੱਕ… ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੀ ਉਹਦਾ ਸਾਂ

There are many parts within us - heart, lungs, spleen, intestines, kidneys. All those are parts of us. When we are in the mother’s womb, we are a part of her body.

I was not separate from my mother when I was in her womb. I was one with the womb of the mother; I was just a part of her body.

Please listen to this again and reflect upon it. All our inside body parts are connected to our inside. The child is connected to the mother’s inside; it’s not separate.

We have to see the whole story that when the Divine decides to bless someone with a human body, how the story starts, and how it finally with His grace, ends, where it is just Him.  

Now, Siddh Gosht.

Yesterday, we saw that Siddhas question was: Where was God dwelling when He created this drama, His creation?

The next question:

ਗਿਆਨ ਕੀ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਕਵਨ ਕਥੀਅਲੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਕਵਨ ਨਿਵਾਸੋ

gi-aan kee mudraa kavan kathee-alay ghat ghat kavan nivaaso.

Siddhas are asking Maharaj Ji how you become acquainted with God. You say He is dwelling in everyone; how do you become acquainted with Him? Please explain to us.

Beautiful question! These questions do not arise in us because we are stuck somewhere else outside in our own worlds. We don’t take this seriously. We listen to Maharaj Ji and obey Him; when we come here, for 10-15 minutes we sometimes feel that my world is nothing but misery but as soon as we leave from here, our own worlds take over again.  

ਗਿਆਨ ਕੀ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਕਵਨ ਕਥੀਅਲੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਕਵਨ ਨਿਵਾਸੋ

gi-aan kee mudraa kavan kathee-alay ghat ghat kavan nivaaso.

ਅਕਲਪਤ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਅਲੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ

akalpat mudraa gur gi-aan beechaaree-alay ghat ghat saachaa sarab jee-aa.

Maharaj Ji says the things you have made your own are only thoughts, that’s not the truth. After doing meditation, you realize that this was just a thought that these children are mine - God created them, gave them bodies, made the body parts, is sitting within operating it and making it grow; God is increasing their understanding, so who am I to claim ownership? It’s just a thought!

Maharaj Ji says that your world, who you are claiming to be “your world”, is in fact a thought, just imagination. You are saying this is my son, this is my daughter; you are imagining it, it’s not the truth. It’s just imagination, just a thought! When you become acquainted with God, you get out of the world of imagination. You are not living now, you are in a dream state where you keep imagining, dreaming. You are living in a dream world, that this is my land, my apartment building, and so on.

kalpat means something that is imagined, having a thought. akalpat is the opposite of that.

When you become acquainted with God, you stop living in a dream land, in an imagined world, which is not true.  If we say this is my heart, even that is not true because some power created the heart, some power is running it; how can I claim this is my heart. Let’s say, because it’s in your body, you say it’s your heart. But how can you say that person is your son like you say your heart - that’s not within you, that’s not a part of you. How can that apartment building be yours? It’s not a part of you!

Maharaj Ji says:

ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਗਾਵੈ

hai ko-ee raam pi-aaro gaavai.

He says, is there anyone who can sing His name and say it’s all God, it’s all God!

I keep saying the same thing over and over again because I know how difficult it is to wake up. Once you wake up, it’s all downhill from there.

ਅਕਲਪਤ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਅਲੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ

akalpat mudraa gur gi-aan beechaaree-alay ghat ghat saachaa sarab jee-aa.

Answering the Siddhas question about how to become acquainted with God, Maharaj Ji says the True Guru blesses you with the sacred word, and through the sacred word we unite with the Divine, and by uniting with the Divine, we come to know the truth that nothing outside can ever be mine. You come to know this truth once you start having acquaintance with God. 

Truly, from your heart, those of us who want to dissolve in the Divine, please raise your hand. Are you ready to pay the price? Thank you! Then, it is so easy! The price is to become united with Him right now and remain united with Him. Actually, it is not a price! I just have this dream; once we learn to remain united with Him inside, and keep increasing it every day, life is going to become so beautiful!

Dhaarnaa:

Who is God? Ishq!

ਮਾਏ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ….. ਨੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ…. ਛੁਹਾਇਆ

maa-ay nee maa-ay…. nee saanoo ishq nay hath…. chhuhaa-i-aa

Oh, my mother, ishq Himself has touched me.

ਖਾਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਉਹਦੀ…ਜਾਂ ਬੋਲ ਵੇ ਉਹਦੇ….ਹੈ ਇਬਾਦਤ ਰੂਪ…… ਸਬਾਇਆ

khaamoshee oHdee….jaaN bol vay oHday…..hai ibaadat roop….sabaa-i-aa

To have ishq with God means to worship Him with our hearts. Guru Granth Sahib is ishq too. When He speaks or He is silent, He is the embodiment of ishq, worshiping His own creation because He loves His creation.
