Couple days ago, while the sangat from Toronto was returning, they said that Maharaj Ji’s utterances of ishq have blessed me with infinite peace, deep stillness, and the clouds of bliss around me all the time. Your songs of ishq have become my ornaments, my decorations.

Let us either wear the divine glasses, or focus at the heart area, or the forehead.

We started reading lines from a poem by a sangat from Bulandpuri Sahib, titled Dhan su tayraa thaan.

Oh, my Beloved, what else proof can I provide You that I am in ishq with You; my body, my consciousness, my soul, everything I have placed at your Lotus Feet, and my eyes are sitting in the begging bowls - my eye sockets are the begging bowls where my eyes are begging to behold You, my Beloved.

Oh, my Beloved, day and night my eyes remain unpeaceful. Please let them behold You so that they can become peaceful and holy.

Today, we are going to understand something very important.

Maharaj Ji is telling us you are Khalsa. Who is Khalsa?

During the tenth appearance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, He states:

pooran jot jagai ghaT mai tab khaalas taeh na khaalas jaanai

He states that when you are illumined with perfect Divine light, then you become pure, holy; and you in fact are holy. If there is no Divine light being felt or has not lit up within you, then you are not holy yet; you have not been transformed to your true self.

Kabeer Sahib says:

pari-o kaal sabhai jag oopar maahi likhay bharam gi-aanee.

He says the whole world gets swollen up by death including those who are meditating but still have delusions in them.

kaho kabeer jan bha-ay khaalsay paraym bhagat jih jaanee.

Saint Kabeer says that those devotees of the Divine become Khalsa, the pure ones, who are in ishq with Him and become ishq walking that path.

The Siddhas question to Guru Nanak Dev Ji is also: how come you have annihilated your mind and you have become the Divine light?

kit biDh aasaa mansaa khaa-ee.

kit biDh jot nirantar paa-ee.

Maharaj Ji answered:

satgur kai janmay gavan mitaa-i-aa.

anhat raatay ih man laa-i-aa.

mansaa aasaa sabad jalaa-ee.

gurmukh jot nirantar paa-ee.

He said that the True Guru lodges you in His womb, makes you hear the Celestial Music and the Divine light is then revealed. This is how we realize our true self.

Let us please understand this.

While bestowing the holy nectar, Amrit, sixteen times we are asked to say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. What does it mean? We know a little bit but not completely. Why did Maharaj Ji stress upon it so much to say this when you meet someone, say this when you are taking leave from someone. What is the story?

Maharaj Ji says:

He says, even though everybody is saying that in order to realize the true self, we have to become liberated from the mind, but do you know how to live while remaining liberated from the mind?

bhai kaa sanjam jay karay daaroo bhaa-o laa-ay-ay.

Maharaj Ji says that if one remains constantly in the fear of God, and that fear is not that I have done something wrong; wherever there is ishq, fear is going to be there.

naanak gurmukh paa-ee-ai jaa ka-o nadar karay-i.

gur parsaadee ha-umai chhutai jeevan mukat so ho-ay.

If we remain in the fear of God day and night, and we continuously keep taking the medicine of ishq, then the Divine becomes merciful upon you and your mind is eradicated; what’s left behind is Divine light. That’s what it is, whom you call “I” or “me”.

When we take Amrit, the Five Loved Ones ask us to say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh - five times when they put the holy nectar in the mouth, five times administering the nectar in the eyes, and another five times when putting Amrit on top of the head. What does it mean?

Maharaj Ji defined Khalsa as:

pooran jot jagai ghaT mai tab khaalas taeh na khaalas jaanai

He says, you are Khalsa. Think about it. If we were already Khalsa, would He say you are Khalsa. Would someone say, you have a human body? That’s obvious, we already have it. He is saying you are the Divine light, and the Divine light always remains one with the Divine as the base of the bubble remains one with the ocean.

Maharaj Ji is saying that in order to realize your true self your mind must go, and you cannot kill your mind because at the moment you are the mind; how can the mind kill itself? Somebody from the outside has to kill it. The Guru or Waheguru, it’s the same, when He becomes merciful, He kills the mind. So, in order to win this game of life, you have to kill the mind, and you cannot kill it, God kills it for you. That victory over the mind is not going to be your victory; that would be God’s victory, so Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

When we meet someone or depart, why is it His hukam that you must say Fateh to that person. Maharaj Ji, during His tenth appearance, asked us that whenever you meet someone, always say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh - remind him or her that you are in fact the Divine light but that is only going to be realized with the grace of God. That victory of the human game will take place because of the grace of God; God is going to kill our mind. When we depart from each other, we remind each other again that remember you are the Divine light.

When, with His grace, we recognize that this is not me or I; it is. But it is something mysterious. Maharaj Ji tells us this mysterious thing is the Divine.

so parabh door naahee parabh tooN hai.

At that stage, wherever you would look, you would see the Divine, nothing else!

kar fakar daa-im laa-ay chasmay jah tahaa ma-ujood.

When all you see is the Divine everywhere and you open your eyes and see someone in front of you, you won’t be able to say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Maharaj Ji will tell us the reason. What emerges at that point is:

namasatavai(n) akaale ||

namasatavai(n) kirapaale ||

namasata(n) aroope ||

namasata(n) anoope

namo , namo - I bow to you, I bow to you. You can try as hard as you want but you won’t be able to say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. You will fall at that person’s feet that this is the Divine! Fateh was to remind the person that he or she is Divine light but this is the Divine so what should I remind them of? Then, within ourselves, we keep bowing to everyone and fall at their feet.

A while ago, even before I met Vaday Baba Ji, one evening I was feeling a little sad so I drove to the Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. People were getting ready to leave. I started walking, and there were beautiful plants and flowers. I took this short trail and saw this rose bush with a single rose flower blooming on it. Before I knew it, I knelt down and bowed to the flower; I felt that it was God. I remained in that state for a little bit and then the mind took over thinking what people would say. That was just a brief glimpse; it wasn’t a permanent state. Even then you are not able to say Fateh but you just fall at someone's feet within yourself.

When we realize the true self only then we recognize what a priceless gift this remembrance to each other Maharaj Ji has blessed the whole world with. This jaikaaraa (Waheguru Jee Kaa Khaalsaa Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh) is not just for the Sikhs, it is for the whole world because the whole world is in fact Divine light. Only then we realize what a gift Maharaj Ji has gifted to the world; what an arrangement He has made through this jaikaara that we be reminded at every step that we are the Divine light.

aakhan jor chupai nah jor.

At that stage your tongue is completely in the hands of the Divine, under His control. Even if you want to say this, you cannot say it; you would only bow down and fall at the other person’s feet. This is the reason I am not able to say this jaikaara. A daughter of mine wrote this letter: Dear Baba Ji, I have a very humble request, I kindly request you to forgive me for asking this straightforward question, why you don’t answer Fateh.

Betay, I am so grateful to you. You are my daughter; we are one. I am so grateful to you that you asked this question and gave me an opportunity to explain. I am utterly grateful to you; please don’t feel that way.

Maharaj Ji says:

mayraa baid guroo govindaa.

jo jo deesai so so rogee.

He says, wherever I look, that person is diseased with ego, only the True Guru is healthy, and He is the true physician of the world. The worldly physicians can only help you with your physical ailments but this physician cures your consciousness.

Dhaarnaa:

Oh, my mother, my inside is not healthy. Please take me to the physician who can cure my insides.

har ko-ee aakhay jeevan mukat honaa

Everyone is saying that we have to become liberated from the mind.

khaalsaa gurparsaad naal honaa

But that can only happen with the grace of the Guru.

bhai kaa sanjam jay karay daaroo bhaa-o laa-ay-ay.

vaylay har oHday dar vich rahinaa

Remain in His fear all the time.

tay daaroo ishkay daa guraaN paasoN lainaa

Receive the medicine of ishq from the Guru; He blesses us with ishq. Maharaj Ji says that’s the medicine; that’s going to cure you.

injh jeevan mukat ho-ay rahinaa

This is how you live while remaining liberated from the mind.

vaykh kay-ho jihaa…..vaid aapnaa…..tay dasay kay-haa……hal nee maa-ay

Oh, my mother, how amazing is our physician, and how beautifully He cures our maladies.

mayraa….jee raajee nahee rahiNdaa…..vaid kol….chal nee maa-ay
