Bhai Jaythaa Jee is responding to the Pandits’ pleas in Akbar’s court. The complaint by the Pandits that Guru Nanak Dev Ji does not believe in the different castes, where the highest caste are the Hindus, number two are the warriors, number three is the traders, merchants, business people, and fourth is the laborers. Bhai Jaythaa Jee explained that the whole of humanity are children of the same God. God did not divide humanity into classes or castes. By doing so, some people have the pride of belonging to a higher caste and others have inferiority, a feeling of being the low caste. This way a person can never love another person, humanity cannot have love for each other, and they can never meet God either.
The next question was that Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s disciples do not worship the statues of gods. In response, Bhai Jaythaa Jee said: Mahatma Buddha said that all these are all souls but he never realized God. So, all Buddhists do not believe in the being of God; they believe that there are only souls. After Mahatma Buddha left his body, since then his disciples have made his statues and worship them. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is showing the people that the Divine is alive, source of life, everlasting, never-changing, is dwelling within everyone. He is making people feel God within them. So, who will worship dead stones when you remain in the presence of the living Divine.
After hearing this, Emperor Akbar declared the verdict and told the Pandits that God and His lovers are one; there is no difference between the two. We should never start discussing things like these with them. After this, the pandits left and Bhai Jaythaa Jee left for Goindwaal Sahib.
Now, let’s read the last paragraph of the poem written by the sangat from Bulandpuri Sahib.
sanoo taaN pi-aaraa tayraa…..takhat hazaaraa……jithay….charh-dee savayr tayray raNg dee
daykh kay deedaar tayraa……nashaa saanoo charhee jaavay….lor jihee charhay…jivayN bhaNg dee
Beholding You makes me intoxicated
Maharaj Ji says:
rainaa-ir maahi anant hai koorhee aavai jaa-ay.
rainaa-ir - means a flowing river.
asmaan mi-yaanay lahang daree-aa gusal kardan bood.
rainaa-ir maahi anant hai koorhee aavai jaa-ay.
He says the river that is flowing in the skies, there is God in that river. Those who do not feel Him are going to remain in the cycle of birth and death.
Please feel that river rising upward, going up to the top, then it pulls us down and again takes us up; continuously flowing. Come to the point below the navel point or at the navel point, and feel something rising upwards. He says, there is God in this river. This river is alive because of God; this river is moving because of God. This river is river of ishq ( ishq chanaa ) because of His presence in this river.
rainaa-ir meh sabh kichh hai karmee palai paa-ay.
He says, every noble, beautiful, wondrous virtue is in this river but you can receive it only if He becomes merciful to you. So, feel this river with a begging state of mind, begging Him to bless you with those virtues.
While singing rainaa-ir meh, start from down below and come up to the navel point. Then a short stop at the navel point when you say meh, then at the throat - sabh kichh hai, then above the throat - karmee palai paa-ay.
rainaa-ir meh sabh kichh hai karmee palai paa-ay.
naanak na-o niDh paa-ee-ai jay chalai tisai rajaa-ay.
Maharaj Ji says the nine treasures of virtues are in that river where your consciousness becomes totally blissful, full of love, intoxicated, complete contentment, compassion, humility, no fear of death, immortality, and all that.

When I was in Germany, sangat from Belgium used to visit. One of them wrote this letter:
Dear dad Baba Ji, Grateful I am for a place in the holy congregation. Every day the opportunity for Khajana Darshan, for hearing the Celestial Music, made me very happy. Thanks to my visit to Bochum, Germany, I realized the presence of God. I am very happy and grateful for the life I live. I met people in the sangat who are very happy. I feel so much appetite for expression of growth which I experienced there. May all of you be healthy and happy. Your daughter.
How beautiful are these souls!
Dhaarnaa:
sun vay manaa nahee-oN injh vay kareedaa
hothaaN naaloN dil noo, alag nahee kareedaa
Oh, my mind, please never separate my heart from my lips. I must speak my heart.
raat noo milan daa see…..vaadaa naal jeeHday
I had promised that I am going to realize my true self during this lifetime. Maharaj Ji calls it a night until we realize the truth.
jagaa kay oHday nainaaN vich chaavaaN vaalay deevay
You promised your true self that you would realize her during this lifetime, and your true self became so excited and full of joy with your promise.
fir raat badal lainee….kadee injh nahee kareedaa
Oh, my mind, you promised me that you would make me meet my true self during this life and now you are saying that I never said during this life. We do this, when we postpone things to tomorrow.
Dhaarnaa (end)
Ji, little children learn everything from their parents. Anyone who has been successful in this life, their mother had a big role to play in their success. Abraham Lincoln, who was the President of America, came from a very poor home. They did not even have a lamp at home. He made a hole in the wall so that some light from the neighbors lamp would seep through and he studied using that light. He said, I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me; they have clung to me all my life.
When Ronald Reagan was the President of America, there was an assassination attempt on his life. One bullet hit him, the security people pushed him into the car and took him to the hospital. He wrote later on that when I was hit with the bullet, the first thing that came to my mind was my mother’s prayers for me, and I did the same prayer. She used to say that everything happens for a reason; we may not understand the why of many things, but if we accept that as His will and go forward then one day we would recognize that everything happens for a reason. He was a very humorous man. When they took him to the hospital, he asked the doctors - are you Republican? They said, Mr. President, today everybody is Republican.
Where did these people get this strength? From those prayers.
Mothers should pray for their children everyday and let them overhear you pray for them. This would be one of the greatest supports, greatest strengths, during his or her lifetime.
Now, for the sangat who could not be here.
Dhaarnaa:
koloN langh-dee-ay nee vaa-ay….saaday sajanaa noo saadaa salaam aakhanaa
Oh, the wind blowing towards my friends who are not present here, please give my respects to them.
nit maNg-day haaN tayree-aaN khairaaN……vaylay subah shaam aakhanaa

oHdee-aaN ambaraaN day haan dee-aaN rahmataaN…….tay oh vee nishkaam aakhanaa
Please tell my beloved friends that His blessings are infinite like the skies, and He blesses those blessings out of His love for us, for no selfish reason.
