ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
॥ ਜਪੁ॥
ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ। ॥ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ॥
gaa-ee-ai raat dinant gaavan jogi-aa.
Maharaj Ji says that whoever we make our idol, we start becoming like him or her gradually. He says that we should only make the Divine our idol because our true self is just like Him.
ਤਉ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਤਉ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਮੂ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਕਿਤੀਆਹ ॥
ta-o bhaavan ta-o jayhee-aa moo jayhee-aa kitee-aah.
Whomsoever you like oh, my Beloved, they become like you. And me, there are millions wandering around like me.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ਤਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਗਿਆ ॥੨॥
jo gur kee pairee paahi tinee har ras bhogi-aa. ||2||
He says those who fall at the feet of the True Guru drink the Divine nectar - Divine in the form of nectar. That nectar takes us into the skies and makes us intoxicated. It takes us into another world which is far away from this world.
He says God makes us fall at the feet of the Guru, our mind can never fall at any feet.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ਤਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਗਿਆ ॥
jo gur kee pairee paahi tinee har ras bhogi-aa.
Oh my Beloved, only You can make one fall at the feet of the True Guru, and they are the ones who drink the Divine nectar.
I receive many letters in which you say that I heave sighs. It is a sign of blessings. Two of my children wrote:
Baba Ji, how do I put these feelings on a paper? I simply cannot. I can try but these words cannot explain these feelings I’m having right now. I cannot stop crying, I cannot breathe, my heart is aching. Why? Because I’m in ishq with him.
He grabs your hirdaa out of love so that you cannot go outside and start wandering aimlessly like fools.
How do you thank someone like Him? It’s impossible, I feel like I’m going crazy. Right now, in this moment, I’m filled with shukraanaa, gratitude.
In another letter, the writer says:
ਨਾਮ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਦਾ ਲਵੇਂ, ਸਾਹ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ
naam jadoN ishq daa lavayN, saah lainaa hee bhul jaaNdaa
When you utter the word ishq, I forgot to breathe.
ਸੁਪਣਾ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੈਣਾਂ ਦਾ, ਜੀਅ ਕਰਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਜਾਂ
supnaa jo tayray nainaaN daa, jee kardaa pooraa kar jaaN
How I long to fulfill your dream.
Please focus at the hirdaa. Maharaj Ji says:
akhree naam akhree saalaah.
akhree gi-aan geet gun gaah.
akhree likhan bolan baan.
akhraa sir sanjog vakhaan.
ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jin ayhi likhay tis sir naahi.
He says that the state of your consciousness is as it is today.because of the choice of the words you have been making - in hearing the words, in speaking the words, in singing the words, in reading the words, in looking at the words.
ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਦੁਇ ਕਾਰ ਚਲਾਵਹਿ ਲੇਖੇ ਆਵਹਿ ਭਾਗ ॥
sanjog vijog du-ay kaar chalaaveh laykhay aavahi bhaag.
Please understand the importance of the words we speak, we hear, we read, we think. Even our thoughts are words. Because of the choice of the words, we are either going to become one with the Divine, or become separated from Him. Because of the choice of words, you are going to meet blessed souls; because of the words you are going to meet with others who argue; because of words you are going to get some things and then because of words you are going to lose those things
ਆਵਹੁ ਸਿਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਹੋ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
aavhu sikh satguroo kay pi-aariho gaavhu sachee banee..
Oh my dear Sikhs, you, the beloved of the True Guru, come sit here, and sing the utterances of the Truth.
ਬਾਣੀ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
baanee ta gaavhu guroo kayree baanee-aa sir banee.
baanee means sound. Gurbaanee means Guru’s sound.
He says sing the utterances of the True Guru - this is the highest sound; the sound which impacts your consciousness the most. Please understand this. God is saying this. He says utterances of Guru Granth Sahib Ji impact your consciousness the most.
If we are fully focused and we are awake, then we will feel the utterances, the Gurbaanee creating very pure vibrations at our hirdaa.
ਬਾਣੀ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
banee ta gaavhu guroo kayree baanee-aa sir banee.
Please hear the next line.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
jin ka-o nadar karam hovai hirdai tinaa samaanee.
Whomsoever He becomes merciful to, His utterances strike at the hirdaa, and the hirdaa absorbs those vibrations, and those vibrations are nothing but God in the form of vibrations.
He says that the utterances of Guru Granth Sahib Ji go directly to your hirdaa and become absorbed there. Then He says:
ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਪਿਹੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
peevhu amrit sadaa rahhu har rang japihu saarigpaanee.
He says, you know what becomes absorbed in your hirdaa? It is the Divine nectar - ishq!
Please see the place of Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s utterances among all the languages of the world. Do you see the value of Gurmukhi now? We must help our children, even those who are older, learn Gurmukhi. If we don’t have this, then whatever remains even animals and birds have that. If our children don’t know Gurmukhi, they will not be able to understand and connect with Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and if we don’t have Guru Granth Sahib Ji then what is left?
akhraa sir sanjog vakhaan.
ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jin ayhi likhay tis sir naahi.
What is the hint here? When He says that no word affects God, what is He saying? He says you can reach that state, that’s what you are here for.
Dhaarnaa:
ਮੁਸਕਾਨ ਵੇ ਗੁਲਾਬੀ ਜਿਹੀ……ਤੇਰੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵੇਂਦੀ ਰਵ
muskaan vay gulaabee jihee….tayray geetaaN vichoN vayNdee ravay
Oh my Beloved, many times I find that Your utterances smile at me, wink at me.
ਵੇ ਸੱਚੋ ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸ ਮਾਹੀਆਂ…..ਭਲਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਰਵੇ
vay sacho sach das maahee-aa……bhalaa saanoo kee oh kahiNdee ravay
Oh, my Beloved, please tell me the truth; when Your utterances smile at me, what do they tell me? I can’t read them, please tell me.

Just now, keertan was being sung that whosoever takes amrit, they are going to become very fortunate. These are just words, right? But those who let these words enter their insides, their fate is going to change. Just words!
I read letters because there is a lot we can learn from them. Between Purab and Barsee, a couple from Bolivia came to Bulandpuri Sahib. While returning they gave me a letter that I want to read:
Our dear Baba Ji, it’s such an honor to stay in Bulandpuri and have the chance of experiencing ishq. My walls are coming down because of the power of God. I cried with all my heart when I felt how much I was missing our Beloved. I was like a kid looking outside wanting love. Sometimes, I even felt homeless before coming here, not belonging anywhere. At first when I arrived here, I felt the same, like I would be so different from others because of the culture.
Now I see this is a process of purification of my mind and heart. I was trying to understand with my mind and that was misleading me. Now I’m filling the hole that was in my heart with God’s love. We want to stay here and keep going deeper with God. I wish we would sit together again to share some more. I would love to know and feel how I can root myself into God.
Baba Ji, we came to India to look for God, and we went to so many different places all over India. We met all kinds of Saadhoos, Gurus, Rishis, and finally here in Bulandpuri we have found that Guru. We have found God, the great Guru as people say, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I’m so blessed to find the Guru.
We are so blessed to have Guru Granth Sahib Ji as our Guru. We honor the mission of Guru Nanak for the unity of all humans. I have a lot of devotion in my mind, and this experience is healing my heart with love. We love God; we missed Him so much. We feel more and more part of the sangat everyday. God’s love is healing our heart, I’m under reconstruction and I need tools to take care of this new version of myself.
Dhaarnaa:
ਵੇ ਸੋਹਣਿਆ…..ਮੰਜਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੂਰ….ਕਦੋਂ ਆਉਣੀਆਂ
vay sohni-aa….manjalaaN nay door….kadoN aa-ouni-aaN
Oh my beautiful friend, we are moving towards our destination but the destination is faraway. When do you think we will arrive there? This is also a begging to the Divine that please take me to the destination.
ਵੇ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਤੱਕਣੀ….ਸੱਭੋ ਕੁ੍ਝ ਕਹਿ ਗਈ
vay nikee jihee takanee….sabho kujh kah ga-ee
Just a short glance of Yours that You threw towards me said so much.
ਹੋਕੇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ….ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪੈ ਗਈ
hokay nimaanee jiNd……pairaaN utay pai ga-ee
And I fell at your feet.
ਕਿੱਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਇਹ….ਕੇਹੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ
kidaaN daa pi-aar ih……kayhee-aaN kahaanee-aaN
What a love, and what a love story!
ਵੇ ਸੋਹਣਿਆ…..ਮੰਜਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੂਰ….ਕਦੋਂ ਆਉਣੀਆਂ
vay sohni-aa….manjalaaN nay door….kadoN aa-ouni-aaN
Dhaarnaa (end)
ਤਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਜਲਾ ਲਖ ਦਾਤੀ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
taa mukh hovai ujlaa lakh daatee ik daat.
He says to be blessed with Amrit is to be blessed with not one blessing or two blessings but like hundreds of thousands of blessings.
jaa ka-o gur har mantar day.
so ubri-aa maa-i-aa agan tay. ||3||
Maharaj Ji has put a condition. He said those who have been blessed with the sacred word by the Guru, they will be ferried across. Then, what happens after He gives you the sacred word?
sant parsaad har jaapee-ai.
Then out of mercy, He makes one meditate upon the sacred word
satsang har man vasai.
He blesses one with sangat, holy congregation.
dukh darad anayraa bharam nasai.
He eliminates the ego. All doubts and illusions are erased.
To be blessed with Amrit is to be touched by ishq within. The eyes become touched by the Amrit, the top of the head, our thinking process is touched by the ishq.
Dhaarnaa:
ਮਾਏ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ….. ਨੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ…. ਛੁਹਾਇਆ
maa-ay nee maa-ay…. nee saanoo ishq nay hath…. chhuhaa-i-aa
Oh my mother, I have been touched by ishq! Do you know what ishq is?
ਇਸ਼ਕ ਗੀਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਦੂ ਮਾਏ…..ਨੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਝੋਲ ਪੁਆਇਆ
ishq geet daa jaadoo maa-ay….nee kisay virlay jhol pu-aa-i-aa
The sacred word Waheguru is the song of ishq. Rare are those who are blessed with the song of ishq. Miracle! Waheguru word is a miracle; it’s a miracle of ishq.
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
